Dr. Pooya Hamdi, Senior Scientist, RWTH Aachen University, presents "Progressive Excavation Disturbance Zone Evolution During and Post Mine-by Tunneling (PRECODE): Insight into a New Underground Research Laboratory for Nuclear Waste Disposal."
Speaker Bio: Dr. Pooya Hamdi's research focuses on rock mechanics, rock engineering design and numerical modeling applied to various areas including rock slope and landslide analysis, tunnels and deep geological repositories. He is currently involved in the development of a new underground research laboratory in granitic rocks in Switzerland. The aim of the project is to study the spatial and temporal evolution of progressive excavation zone around tunnels using multidisciplinary monitoring system. The presentation outlines the current status of the PRECODE Project.
