Proja is cornbread. It is often mixed with projanica or projarom. Proja is made from coarsely ground corn flour, salt and water. In addition to corn, projanica also has wheat flour, and it is most often made with cheese and greaves. Other ingredients include yogurt, parmesan, cucumber, dried peppers and many more.
In southeastern Serbia, proja is known as moružnica and is part of the "Gastronomy of the Pirot region".
Proja is an important part of Serbian cuisine where it is served as an appetizer or with sauerkraut dishes.
Recipe:
300 grams of coarsely ground corn flour
1/2 bag of baking powder
300 ml of acidic water
1/2 cup oil
1 teaspoon salt
