TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED DC FAN
This paper presents the design and implementation of a temperature-controlled DC fan system for efficient cooling applications. The system utilizes a microcontroller-based approach to regulate the speed of a DC fan according to the surrounding temperature. The primary objective is to maintain a stable temperature within an enclosed space, such as a
room or electronic device, by adjusting the fan speed based on real-time temperature measurements.
The hardware setup consists of a DC fan, a temperature sensor (such as a thermistor or LM35), and a microcontroller (e.g., Arduino or Raspberry Pi). The temperature sensor continuously monitors the ambient temperature, converting it into an analog voltage signal. This signal is then processed by the microcontroller, which compares it to predefined temperature thresholds.
Based on the temperature readings, the microcontroller adjusts the speed of the DC fan using pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques. As the temperature rises, the fan speed increases proportionally to provide higher airflow and cooling. Conversely, when the temperature decreases, the fan speed decreases accordingly, conserving energy and reducing noise. The software algorithm includes a control loop that continuously monitors the temperature and adjusts the fan speed in real-time. The system is programmed to maintain the temperature within a specified range, ensuring optimal cooling efficiency while preventing overheating or unnecessary energy consumption.
Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the temperature-controlled DC fan system in maintaining a stable temperature environment. The system provides efficient cooling performance, adapts dynamically to changing temperatures, and offers energy savings compared to traditional fixed-speed fan systems. Overall, the proposed system offers a cost-effective and practical solution for temperature regulation in various
applications, including electronic enclosures, home appliances, and automotive cooling systems.
