My first was 98 S70 T5 and that got me hooked. Now have added 2 09 XC90 V8’s and my new love, a 95 850 T5R. Volvo for life.

that 850R has good bones and the black interior is nice.

It definitely does! The single stage paint has practically no dings in it, so it should come back well with proper correction, and the interior is pretty great like you said.

You guys did a great job in convincing me to NOT Buy a Volvo. As much as I've always wanted one, I'm not a Mechanic so I see nothing but a money pit. I've never had any luck with used cars so I guess I'm just going to keep plugging away at keeping my current ride going. The good news Is I paid cash for her 5 years ago, and the bad news is she's German so she's not cheap when I get work done. Good Luck fellas. Be Well and drive safe.

Fair enough haha! But to be fair, this car was bought completely sigh unseen and delivered, all for a fairly cheap price knowing the risk! We all own older German cars as well, so we get where you’re coming from. It’s definitely something to be prepared for! What german car do you have?

Subbed mate. Intersted to see how you get on. Had ab 850 T5 wagon a few years back and had sellers remorse since. Just got myself a phase 1 v70 T5 wagon with the manual box that needs head work but the rest of the car is great so worth it. 5 cylinders for the win! All the best from Scotland.

its kind of normal for these to have low compression after sitting for a longer time ... mine took like 2 minutes of cranking to start after 8 months once and then slowly more and more cylinders kicked in when the oil started to seal around the pistons ... probably the engine is fine

Wanted to tell ya to check the timing belt and the cams to be in correct place where they should be. The tensioner prone to lose up, and when the car parked on a hill, timing belt can jump over, and the compression goes with it. Sometimes the piston rings can stuck, 1 cm³ of oil in each cylinder usually solve the problem. Good luck fingers crossed :)

i just picked up a legit 850 '420' paint code car.. only one i've ever seen in America. factory 5spd with 90k mi.. i get it. Volvo.

@SlippyGrip amazing color and spec.. slicktop (so no headliner issues), 5spd, grey cloth (no dry/cracked/torn leather), yazaki odometer (also only one I've ever seen in America) which doesn't fail like vdo - mileage matches the carfax! 1995 so it still has the self diagnostics and the ABS module that never fails.. ive had 7 850s so I'm well versed on the best years/specs..

I love my 5 cylinder Volvos and have yet to get an 850. If you think this one is bad, I pulled an S60R out of a field that sat for a few years, and it’s in terrible condition lmao. This car isn’t bad other than the compression issue lol. Good luck on the build!

I think I remember that one, but no, this one was in Maryland, and it wasn’t up for too long, because I tried to pounce on it asap haha. Appreciate the view, make sure to check out the rest of the series on the car!

@@SlippyGrip I am definitely going to watch the series. My next project is to turn my $300 POS XC90 into a XC90 R. It will not have a K24 but I will upgrade to a 16T with a tune and what ever I can swap over from a S60R. Good luck with the 850R bro..
