@@exploready Well, I'm bummed that they made the Deadwood Green a one time release.....I wanted that one most of all but wanted to avoid the "first year lemons" and decided to wait to see if they worked the kinks out. Not a fan of the blue and would not be caught dead on the new "Army" themed 2023 models as I never served and don't want to remotely imply that I did. Poor choice, I believe, on HD's part. So, I suppose I'll have to go with my fallback which is Black. 😔
@@johnmyers8588 The Deadwood Green was a really nice color. You're right, it's too bad it was a limited release. Maybe 2023 will have something super impressive.
@@exploready As far as I know, the only option for 2023 is that "Army" green with the white star.....like M*A*S*H. I think it's foolish because Adventure bikes are a very niche market (for HD as of now).....even salesmen aren't interested in trying to sell them, but I would imagine even FEWER people would want the Pan Am in that color scheme. It"implies" that you served in the Army and I wouldn't want one just for that reason. Hell, I bought a USED road king and never noticed that there was an Air Force medallion on my clutch cover and I had a very give me hell about it. I thought he was just asking if I served and I told him no. Fast forward and he kept asking me to take it off. I took it off and have it to him out of respect for his service but it still passed me off. I didn't put it on there and never would have known had he not have pointed it out to me. So, no, 2023 is not an option. Besides, the green doesn't look the same thing as the Deadwood Green did .
@@johnmyers8588 I ordered a 2021 in Deadwood Green, and then added a 2022 in Gauntlet Grey. Got the dealer to agree to 'swap' the tank and fairing on the 2022 (grey) for the tank and fairing on the 2021 (green) and bought the (n ow green) 2022. Very happy with both the PA and the colour ... but very confused as to why H-D did away with the green as an option in 2022.
Forest/fire roads have been so fun to explore. So much more mellow than street. I find that I need a few minutes to 'wind down' to an enjoyable state of mind, as opposed to the 'go-go-go' mind-set I can get into on the road.
Frank, thank you! It's been fun to try something different with the videos. I'm running the TourATech GPS mount. The install was more involved than I thought it would be, but I'm happy with the mount. I'm running a ZumoXT, but I've also used the TourATech mount for a quadlock case and a phone (which worked great). Glad you're enjoying your Pan Am! Hopefully your off-season will be short.
I love the concept of making videos that show different places to ride, so I will be checking back to see what ends up in your Forest Service Project. I kind of started something similar in SW Utah riding a Tenere' 700. I made a few videos in the Dixie National Forest, but my videos turned out pretty bad, so I never posted anything. My thought was to show the beauty of the area rather than shredding trails on a Tenere'. While I consider myself to be a competent rider, my videography skills are pitiful. The last couple I made, I didn't even provide a narrative because my voice sounds like crap. With all that said, what model Skydio are you using? What microphone are you using on your GoPro? Thanks and keep making the FS project.
I'm running the Skydio2, and by no measure am I an expert on it. The video creation has been fun, and a labor of love. I've learned quite a bit posting each new video.
Can you tell me where you got the small bags you mounted to your engine guard? Love the videos and am looking at the Mosko Moto Woodland bags for my 2022 PAS. Thanks.
@@xlstreetglide2557 I've used the HD tank bag for the Pan Am, and also the Mosko Moto Nomax. I really like the Mosko Moto bag and their inclusion of a hydration bladder. It also has a lot more organized storage.
I appreciate the video. I'm researching my first bike, looking for something that will allow me to explore areas like this. Nice to see there are great places to ride so close to home (SE Denver). Thanks!
Do not buy a Pan America! They are mediocre bikes at premium prices with dealers that don't give a shit about fixing the bike or you! My 22 PA has been the biggest turd I've ever owned, buy a GS or an Africa twin, wish I did, 27k into mine and I regret every dollar and ever mile.
@@dmac5497 I have no experience riding. I've sort of narrowed my search down to either a KLR 650, a BMW 310 GS, or a Honda CB500x. I'm a little over 6' and 200 lbs, but I want something small and reliable to learn on, and be able to explore. No desire to ride in the city or on freeways, but something like Mt. Herman Road looks like a blast!
