that has been highly possible before plans for a coaster in old town where Hyperia is now have been thought of, if we werent getting a Mack Hyper, it was gonna be an RMC next to Swarm, plus there was plans to link Stealth up to Swarm and the RMC to save you walking all the way round to get there
Thorpe Park will get the first UK RMC. It will annoy a lot of people to say this but other than the theming and history, Thorpe is streets ahead of Alton Towers nowadays
It makes the most sense for them to get one first if Horizon isn't one. The only other park that could would be Pleasure Beach if they redid one of their woodies, but a lot of them are listed structures so I'm not sure how much opportunity there actually is for that
Alton towers is being manoeuvred into a “Family” theme park any new rides won’t be huge thrill attractions instead they will be ones the whole family can ride, the major rides will be as you say at Thorpe park where there are no planning councils stopping anything they can, so it’s cheaper and less stress to build there Thorpe park is also better located to attract tourists visiting London.
Yeah Thorpe Park has its fans. Personally I find it to be rough around the edges then theres the money issue as Alton Towers always gets the most cash thrown at it. I think about the major investments that they both have had in the last decade or so Thorpe Park - Swarm, Hyperia Alton Towers - The Smiler, Wickerman, Nemesis Reborn and still has project Horizon in the wings Eitherway its exciting times as ALL the theme parks will be pumping investment into the parks as Universal is threatening to appear with its Mario-land, world of wizarding etc (hopefully we'll see a velocicoaster in uk!!)
I agree about Towers always getting preferential treatment. I'm very excited to see what we'll get at Universal (if it happens), hopefully we'll get something on the same level as Velicicoaster or the duelling Mack coasters at Epic Universe
I meen much like everything at alton towers its not going to be massive unless they dig or blow up some stuff to get the hight 😂 i love towers but that treeline restriction is frustrating, the place is out in the sticks anyway how many people would it really bother to have afew big coasters
Hahaha it is infuriating, but I think they've actually managed to make the treeline restriction into a positive, because Nemesis or Oblivion wouldn't have been the same if they had an unrestricted height. I think one of the reasons why the rides at Towers have been so innovative is because they can't build big rides, so have to make them interesting another way.
It doesn’t need rmc treatment. It’s like converting El Toro, it is good as a wooden coaster and not too rough, so it doesn’t need RMC treatment. All RMC conversions have been from SBNO, rough or boring woodies such as mean streak into steel vengeance
Are they even building anything new this year? Only did Fire in the Hole last year? And Lightning Rod second refurb. Wait, single rails fall apart and become maintenance heavy? Source? Aren't the closed often because of wind but not that much due to downtime?
They're also building a set of duelling Raptor's at Walibi Holland for 2025. There's no official source, because its not really something the park or RMC would want to advertise, but I've heard that their 1st gen raptors had issues with the restraints, so they can't hit their theoretical capacity. The 2nd gens (Jersey Devil and Stunt Pilot) were both closed briefly in 2021 (the year they opened) to be inspected by RMC because they were getting so much downtime. If that's not a maintenance nightmare I don't know what is
Said from the start I think it’s going to be a trackless interactive shooter ride, like buzz light year / ratatouille. As proven by Disney & Universal parks they are a big draw for families have massive capacity and anyone can ride them.
The so-called journalist - I use that word very loosely - who wrote the article (or asked ChatGPT?!) spoke to another vlogger after they contacted the paper and admitted the report was written based on the Towers video you mentioned and the rumours, so nothing has been confirmed one way or the other about it being an RMC. The report was pure click-bait.
I recon if we want a good RMC itll be thorpe park that does it, as i doubt alton towers will be able to make a really good one unless they plant bigger trees with their height limit, there height limit is the tree line thats why some tracks have green parts to hide them, thats why i said "if they plant bigger trees" that will then technically increase their height limit making room for a taller RMC
Yeah, if alton does that for the RMC then we will have a good rmc but otherwise id say "dont get your hopes up since ir'll be a while before thorpe park does that with Hyperia / Project Exodus nearly done" but im not getting my hopes up for alton towers, however if alton towers makes it so its like a mineshaft theme and it has like this giant quarry in the ground to create room for large drops and places to get speed oh if they do that ill be hyped af
I’ve done steel vengeance at cedar point on the first few days of TT2 being open before it closed and steel vengeance was very fun and the uk really needs to get a RMC. don’t matter what lol just to have one 😂😂
i mean there's supposedly a 2nd intamin coming to the uk (according to the annoucement of drayton manor's coaster) alongside it coaster so im curious where that one will go, i kind of expected it to be project horizon but time will tell
Yeah, I think a lot of people were (and still are). The article which 'confirmed' Horizon would be an RMC has been proven as just bad journalism now though, so it's not off the cards. I would be surprised if Horizon wasn't an Intamin tbf
@@coaster_sharkit was part of the alton towers interview they did back in like october or something but im convinced its probably a joke but i want it to be a good ride!
Fire in the Hole is an indoor RMC don't forget. Judging by the recent online surveys, project horizon could be a Minecraft IP themed indoor RMC which I would suspect be similar to Fire in the Hole's ride experience. It is in a family area of the park and will be a family ride. It is delayed until 2026 at least anyway in terms on development beginning due to funding going to flat ride elsewhere within the park first i.e Project Ocean and then R-Cade's eventual indoor ride and an X-Sector flat ride.
I'm not sure how I feel about a Minecraft IP to be honest - I get that it's popular, has a distinct feel, and everyone wants a bit of the action considering how well the Nintendo worlds are doing, but I'd much rather see Towers do something original and get really creative with it, especially with how well Curse and Nemesis have been pulled off
I think the show building is too big for it to be that. I'm not sure how I would feel if it was though - probably a little disappointed to say the least
The bulk of it was Medusa Steel Coaster at Six Flags Mexico, which I mentioned was the smallest RMC Hybrid they've done, but there were a few clips of Untamed at Walibi Holland right at the start of the section as well.
@@coaster_shark I think the wait will be very long... we might see a couple of Wild Moose here in the UK and a single coaster but a Zadra....i hope but doubt now.
It doesn't mean that it isn't an RMC, just that it's not confirmed what it is yet - I couldn't find in the article where it said what the source was at the time, maybe they've edited it because they knew they made a mistake
