Hi Jayda, I was so happy watching your video. I am a Primary school teacher who will be soon retiring. This is such a great idea. I've made things and decided to make the same project but can't remember what yarn, hook, etc. Printing off the patterns and keeping the yarn label and things with it is so genius!! And adding pictures of the project would make this a wonderful book of memories!!! Just what I need...ANOTHER project!! Sometimes it's the easiest things the we don't think of that can make our life so much easier!!! Thanks Jayda!!

Love you sharing all of your wonderful ideas. I forgot about the adhesive tape dispenser thingy and I am glad to be introduced to washi tape! I recently got a nice selection of ‘patterned’ scissors that I will also use in my project journal. Something else I plan to include is a start date and end date of a project. And of course notes that may cause interruptions from completion on ideal date

I never thought of keeping a journal of my crochet projects until recently. Last week my grandmother in law passed away. And she told my mother in law and my husband that she wanted me to have all her crochet stuff. I didn't know this. She also told them she wanted me to finish a crochet project her mom started great grandma and she never got around to finishing it. So I said to my husband "I hope she has the pattern and yarn info with it". My husband had confidence in my crochet skill, (I dont) but he said " if she doesn't you'll figure it out"😬🙂. After that I realized keeping some sort of old school project journal will be handy for future generations. So that's my goal for 2022.

Puffy stickers! I was born in the 80's but more a child of the 90's and I had many a puffy sticker! Also shiny, fuzzy, and smelly stickers. I miss my old sticker album! Wish I had thought to journal when I started yarn crafting 12 years ago. Would be neat to look back on even now. I do have a binder full of patterns I've printed from internet, but it's more just pattern storage than a journal. And I can't keep up with it now because I don't have a printer anymore and nowhere to put one. I was planning to print a bunch on the library computers, but then Covid happened. Sigh.

Since I did see your older video on keeping a journal of patterns, I started with these black notebooks and hand writing the patterns in metallic pen colors. I have always liked how the different metallic colors pop off of black paper. I would love to see a video on how you place a pattern in your own journal🙂

Jayda I was just going through things and I thought I should get binders and rearrange them. I was at our Walmart and couldn't find 3" binders. I wanted to get the big ones that way less binders...maybe lol. Also those plastic cases are nice too. You gave me some good ideas. Thank you.

Jayda, this is perfect timing! I have just starting crocheting more than baby hats and I was trying to decide how to keep a record of what I have made. I plan to donate a lot of it. I took photos of my projects, typed up the patterns, including info on the yarn and hook size, and stuck them in plastic page protectors in a binder. I’m so glad you do something similar! I don’t scrapbook so my binder is rather boring looking, but it works. I think I will also keep the yarn wrapper and pieces of yarn as well. Great idea!

Thank goodness I came across this video: I am going to give away my very first blanket tomorrow, but I forgot to take a picture of it. Like taking a yearly photo of myself to record my ageing process, I want to record my progress in crochet. It is so easy to forget and not to notice those changes. I also plan to make dishcloths/small potholders with various stitches, with name and instructions of how to make it. One might also double as a swatch as/ I use a different yarn, which I also plan to record/put a label with the dishcloth, each inserted into a plastic pocket. Never having done any knitting I also need to learn about yarn so the dishcloths/swatches should help me. Putting a thin into each pocket and fixing the dishcloth to it sounds like a good idea: it should stop the dishcloth falling to the bottom and getting grumbled up, but enabling me to see the stitch pattern without having to handle the fabric too much.

I have been crocheting for 45 years I started when I was 5 years old wanting to do everything my grandma did. I wish now I had keep journals because I recently went to a yard sale and a lady had a blanket I made when I was 10 years old I gave it to my best friend and come to find out the lady was her sister and was cleaning out her house. When she found out I was the one that made it and why she decided to keep it to pass down in her family. She now had a story to go with it.

I would love to learn how to make a pattern, as well as journaling a new project. I am trying to make a crochet project for a piece my Gram made over 40+ years ago. She knitted it, but I can't knit to save my life. Tried for over 5yrs, and still can't cast on. I can, and DO like to crochet though, so want to make a crochet version of what she did. So help on pattern making would be a blessing. It is coming up on my 1 yr anniversary since I started crocheting after learning how from watching your videos. Think that it would be a great full circle. Thank you Jayda for sharing your knowledge!

Hey, I don't know if this will be helpful or not but I couldn't knit to save my life either a year ago. I began to learn loom knitting. After doing that for a while and studying the stitches, I finally learned the basics of what a knit stitch and purl are supposed to look like and was able to grasp basic knitting on the needles! You can find the looms super cheap second hand. Best of luck!

Jayda InStitches I did but not much I have acquired quite a bit of yarn this month a friend was destashing & it was my bday (month) 😂 But as for lens Mills I got lion brand homespun for about $2.30 a skein & patons Canadian for about $1.30. In May I grabbed enough Handicrafter Cotton huge skeins for a king size blanket that’s I’ve since made (whew) at $5 each. The trick is definitely to watch for the extra 50% off. 😁🧶💜

Great idea! (Ideas!). I was keeping everything in a big accordion type folder thingy. But wanted to revamp it. Well needless to say, I broke my wrist in July and I am unable to crochet or knit until maybe Oct. I've been feeling so unproductive, bored, and nothing to distract me from the aches and pains 😭 So I want to thank you for this video because I'm encouraged to revamp the whole way that I've been storing my patterns...Be productive and still be involved with crochet in knitting... Luckily I did not break my writing hand 😊

Jayda...You may have been a sweet Crow in a former life, but I was sure you were a" Kiddygarden" teacher. beads, I am basically a newbie to Knitting and Crochet, formerly beads beads, I just love crafting. I felt so defeated the other night, after starting a gorgeous start to one of Debi Dearest's quilts, but I wanted to make a Mandela and frame it. I got going great until it said something about a V stitch, which I am familiar with, but couldn't understand how it could be such a tall stitch when finished. I think it is the written word that throws me, when I watch you or anyone (almost) I can follow easily, but not reading directions..So I will be perusing all you professionals videos and hope it all rubs off.. love your stuff.

I just ordered this from Etsy. I have been planning a journal for quite some time and I have the binder, page protectors and several pictures of projects that I have completed. I have lots of patterns printed as well. So this will really motivate me to get started with the journaling. I will also check out the amazon essentials. That will help as I have Vertigo and alot of times I just cannot drive ...like yesterday and so far today. And yes, I would love to see how you journal so plz do that video as well.

Great ideas! I have some patterns in folders in a file drawer, and some in drawers. My question is: how do you store your crochet magazines that have patterns in them that you want to make someday? Currently mine are just stacked flat in a small cabinet.

Hi Judy! I have a few of those, I keep them on a shelf, tightly packed together (upright) so I can read their spies :)

Hi Jada Instiches you have a wonderful idea there. I was just wondering if you would release it as a craft magazine. Each issue/ volume has a new pattern and a gift to help build up the journal and help with organising your yarn stash and projects. First issue you get a binder and the labels and a few sleeves and content page. ECT. I would subscribe to ordering the magazine once a month.
