That was great to hear from Jason on his experience using the PS30 in both configurations. There is not alot info available on this topic and I was so waiting to hear his point if view. It is a personal preference for sure but hearing Jason explain pros and cons in a trolling setup as we do helps without a doubt. Thanks for the content Marc, great video!

Very informative. Running a 94 sv. Do most of my fishing in 150 ft. Or less. I've never hered much about transducer orientation and angles to maximize spread coverage.. learned a lot. Thank you. Appreciate the time and effort you put into this video. I fish for stripers in New York and New Jersey.. I regularly outfish charters with knowledge gained from informative videos on RU-vid.

Marc, Awesome information last year I made the switch to Garmin after 30 years with another manufacturer. I installed a 8616xsv in the dash a PS30 in the standard mounting and a GT51 through hull. Your videos have me excited to getting my PS30 on a flipped mount from Rytech for two reasons. one is the dreaded rooster tail and two is better separation of the ball and my bait’s. The timing on you information couldn’t have been better as I am in the process of adding a 943xsv and a fantom radar and a reactor 40 to my network. Spent an hour with my boat mechanic trying to come up with a solution to fix the rooster tail issue. Looking forward to more of you video’s. Thanks Team CJ

Thanks Marc, very interesting. Jason knows his stuff. It sounds like Garmin need a rotating Mount for the PS30. Would Jason share what he’s learned about downrigger weights as far as how different shapes and colors affect the fish?

Hi Marc! Great video... thanks!! I have a question you might be able to help (and others) with. I am an ocean-fisher in Southcentral Alaska. I purchased panoptics with PS30 and had it installed by our amazing local marine electronics business about month or so ago. You noted in you first intro video that you need to mount the unit "as low in water as possible." Our local experts follow the same guidelines from Garmin, and in first installation installed the unit too low, resulting in a very impressive rooster tail (I don't have swim step above the unit to break the spray). Still partially below the hull, they raised the unit some and substantially reduced the rooster tail ... but it still gives my outboards a unwanted saltwater spray. I would eventually like to eliminate this. In addition, like other users, I was frustrated by lack of forward view and saw many benefits of rotating the unit to greatly expand that. I worked Rytek and ended up buying RTG1500 (the 1501 had obvious benefits, but would require rewiring, and hoped too avoid the additional cost). RyTek noted some users mounted units angled forward and slight above back of boat when on step, to avoid the rooster tail and possible potential damage from in-water debris. I have two questions: (1) Is it necessary to mount the unit lower below water and will it reduce unit performance if you don't (e.g., more "noise" from swirling water)? it would be an easy way too eliminate the rooster tails at higher speeds. (2) Jason mentioned in this video that you can see fish and objects better at deeper depths with some "minor adjustments". What are those adjustments, and is there some place (Garmin or elsewhere) for one to learn about and get guidance in making these adjustments? I have found fish much harder to see at depths below 50 feet, and would love to improve the resolution. Many thanks in advance for your help! Keep up the great videos!!

You have me sold on the idea of putting a panoptix system in my north river boat. My main question is, if you flip the transducer around, won't that prevent you from marking fish in shallow water? Most of our salmon fishing in the pacific northwest in rivers is in 15-35ft of water.

Very good information. Like Keith below, I'm already wondering about flipping the PS30 back and forth from standard to flipped position as needed. I'm capable of designing and building the flipping mechanism needed to do this. Unfortunately the PS30 is new to me so not sure about how the software would handle that.

There would be no software issues …. Long term I plan to install an adjustable pole but in my case that requires a big hole in my swim platform if I want to keep it cantered at the back of the boat.

The Garmin unit has no idea we flipped it.

Would there be an advantage to run the flipped orientation on an LVS32? Mine is pole mounted so it is easy to turn 90 degree on the pole.

Hi thanks for all the info I run a twin outboard boat and just had a Ps30 installed was wondering with only runing two riggers due to having twin outboards do you think it would be more beneficial to run it flipped or normal (to pick up divers)
@KingsLandingSportFishing
@KingsLandingSportFishing 2 года назад
Personal preference…. I only have two riggers on my boat but I want to see in front of the boat as well as separation between my cannon balls, flashers and spoons. For that reason I’m flipping mine.

Kings Landing Sport Fishing thanks do you get any separation at all with it normal and say runing lures 20ft off the ball thanks again fish lake mi and not many pple have it and the ones that do are tight lipped and trying keep it a secret so just trying to figure it all out b4 boat goes in water

So just to be correct….I am ordering this now and just want to make sure I get the best for what I want to do. I’m salmon trolling like you….is the ps30 the best transducer to get? What about the new ps34?
@KingsLandingSportFishing
@KingsLandingSportFishing Год назад
There is not PS34. There is the LVS34 however most don’t recommend it for Salmon trolling. PS30 is used by majority of Salmon Trollers with Panoptix.

You won’t get much front or back view in shallow water. I’d recommend standard orientation in 12-18’
