In this video we take on another cool project. Swapping a V drive into this boat, and lengthening the hull to get more floatation and planing surface. Frank, Renee and Tim attack this project, pulling the motor and outdrive, cutting off the stern and getting the major glass work done to the outer hull.

Wow, love the hull extension. Would like to see more of that process.

Justin, how much does the layup overlap when joining the 2 hull pieces? Once the layup is done on the inside do you sand the joint on the outside thinner then re layup that joint to to the original thickness of the hull? or is all th ework done on the inside?

Good question, I will add that to the description. It's a QSB 6.7 425HP

Can you confirm is the drive a 660 or a 680?

2 drives in 200 Hrs? Who rebuilt the drives or were they sent back to the Konrad factory for rebuilding?

I'm not sure, but he did actually change from a single prop to duo prop.

Out drives do not handle commercial fishboat? Like trap boats. The forward and reverse, say 200 times per day, kills all of them, no matter who makes them

@Aluminium workboat project Jets are inefficient up to cruise compared to props. Imagine the simplicity of fixed shaft surface drive.

@stevecarlisle3323 4 года назад
@Juha Tuomala the surface drive performs well at low speed, as th prop is totally immersed. All these drives have their applications

Tony, these videos are part of our project spotlight series which is more "look at what we did." We do have a "How To" series, but honestly we don't produce enough content for that series. Mainly because of lack of time and resources, these projects are already happening and it's easy to shoot whats already going on in the yard. Setting up a how to video takes more time. As our channel grows, it becomes more apparent that we need to devote more resources. I'll be trying to make more how to's in the future. Thanks for the comment, stay tuned!

How many days did it take to do all the work in this video? This is one of my favorite RU-vid Channels. #boataddiction

It's hard to say exactly how many man hours. Renee has been working on this pretty steady for about a month. Frank has been in and out, juggling multiple projects, mostly working on another boat. Initially pulling the engine, laying everything out and cutting the stern was probably about a week for Frank and Tim. Then about a month of Renee building molds, laying up, sanding , laying up, sanding, building molds repeat. It's time consuming to build up all that structural glass.

@@SeaboardMarineIncVideos Thanks... working steady for a month is good enough.
