I am scheduled for a Dexa Scan on May 7. My 8th Prolia injection is June 14. Since Prolia is almost depleted within 6 months, should I reschedule my bone scan to late June?
I had 5 shots of prolia. Wish I had never heard of this drug. My last shot was xmas 2020. Sufferering from mouth ulcers and oral linchen planus as a side effect of prolia since. Very uncomfortable. Is there anything I can take to get rid of this infection. Extreme pain in my lumbar back and groin region which spreads down the inside of my thigh muscles to my knees. Very difficult to walk. Also suffer from extreme tight hamstrings Have to sleep with ice packs to get any relief. Spasms in my calf muscles and twitches in my feet. Prolia has ruined my health. Didn't have pain or ache prior to taking it. Was a regular walker prior to prolia. This is a seriously dangerous drug. Nobody should take same.
Thank you so much Dr. Brown. I loved this video. I am currently on Prolia but can't believe i ever got on it in the first place. I am very frightened. I have been strengthening my bones with exercise, supplements and diet. I am not going back for another injection. I have done three years. I am so sad I did this to my body. You are encouraging. God Bless you!
My wife was encouraged to get on Prolia in October 2016 after a DEXA scan revealed that her markers were on -3.5 having been on Actonel and other similar drugs up to that time to combat OP. Six months after the operation and having had ultra sound on Thyroid and Parathyroid Glands, to her horror a lump that has sprang out on the front of her neck revealed to be of suspicious substance. Her endocrinologist immediately suggested that she has her Thyroid and one of her Parathyroid glands removed before the lump becomes malignant i.e. cancerous. There is no question in our minds that since the lump or cist did not exist before the Prolia injection the culprit cannot be any other that Prolia itself.
I am a 60 year old female, started Prolia in 2016. Missed one injection in June 2020 ( as I was in another country helping my mother) was not worried regarding the missing dose, as I was told my bone density was greatly improved) 4 months after the missing injection of Prolia, had 6 fractures on my spine. Lost 6 cm etc..
@@vivacious-1970 I’m sorry you’re having such a rough time. I hope your pain eases soon. My doctor has been pushing Prolia on me for a while. When I ask about the horrible side effects associated with this drug, her response is… ‘Don’t worry, it’s very well tolerated.’ - I’m steering clear of Prolia based on your post and several others. Thank you, and again, I hope you’re feeling better soon.
@@DrSusanBrown I just got first shot month ago for every 6 months because was diagnosed breast cancer so I start hormonal therapy to block estrogen and also to prevent osteoporosis so I start feel jaw pain not a lot but reading reviews about side effects scare me like loose teeth or gum infections.
I just started Prolia last year! All of a sudden all my blood work was terrible! I am having IDA (iron deficiency anemia) The only thing that had changed in my life was the Prolia injection. I have had so many tests to see why I am losing blood, to no avail! I am seeing a hematologist and have had iron infusions twice. The EGD I had showed I have GERD, the medicine I take for that isn't great for my osteoporosis! I am revaluating and praying the Dr's listen to me! Oh, CT scans show no blood loss either! Thank you in advance for any reply you may give me!
Hi Ruthie, we are sorry to hear about this! Dr. Brown said that this situation is very interesting and it's possible that Prolia could be the cause, but you should talk to your doctor about this suspicion.
I have gastritis which is inflammation of stomach lining & I have had refluxcas well. I went through a particularly stressful month in April which set my stomach off. I did omeprozole 14 day dose to get things under control. I did some research & found that Aloe VerA capsules are great for stomach issues. I tried it along w/Ashwganda capsules for my stress & adrenal fatigue. Both helped tremendously. I also took digestive enzymes & went on a bland diet for a week or so. In addition, I take Vit. D 4,000IU/day, plus Vit. K2MK7. I am a very active 61 yr old & have had osteoporosis since my 40's. I have had no fractures except when I fell off my bike & put my arm out to break my fall. That was 8 yrs ago. It was a clean break & healed quickly. I had to have OT to get the ligaments & tendons working properly again, but no shattered bone. Go figure. I also take greens in capsule form or add to my smoothie. I go for Dexa next week. I wish they would do more than a Dexa & do the tribecular scans for actually bone strength despite being thin. I keep myself moving & active & will incorporate some heel drops & hopping as well as rebounding. I dug out my Urban Rebounder. I refuse bone drugs as you can still fracture while on them plus the crazy side effects. No thanks, I'll stick to my routine as I believe that though I have thin bones, I have a strong tribecular structure. I pray you find what you need, but I highly recommend Aloe Vera caps for stomach.
What is the mechanism by which Prolia lowers your calcium? I had to have my Ca tested 2 weeks prior to scheduled Prolia injection to insure I could take it, but it was NOT monitored during the period following the injection. I experienced extreme fatigue and weakness following the first two injections, but recovered. About 3 weeks after the Third Injection of Prolia, I was sent to ER with bradycardia and arrhythmia. I spent two nights in hospital on a monitor. I was released with the cardiologist telling me "There is nothing wrong with your heart. Your heart is strong! We do not know what caused your arrhythmia!" I just looked back at the labs that were drawn upon admission to ER and my Ca was 8.6, just 1/10 point above lowest range of normal for that lab. I looked back 5 years and saw my calcium was ALWAYS 10.2, 10.1 or withing 1/10 point either way. Why is calcium not checked post Prolia injection? My cardiologist told me to stop this drug. I have a sneaking suspicion that my calcium dropped below normal, the arrhythmia and HR 38-42 frightened me into calling my doctor, and by that time, my blood calcium was beginning to recover. It has been nearly two years since last injection and there have been no more episodes of bradycardia or arrhythmias, nor any fractures. Recent visit to the physician who prescribed this drug in the first place commented that "We're not doing that any more." I failed to ask her why. Thank you.

I am having a meltdown after being on Prolia for 8 years. On it since 68 because I had a hairline foot fracture, the only one in my life. I told the doctor I wanted it no more. Blood work done and all within normal range including parathyroid. Waiting for DEXA scan results.

Thank you!. I had a vertebae fracture at 58 years old. Found i had severe OP (-5.5 for example) and full body OP. I am completing a year of Evenity and offered Prolia or Reclast. Autoimmune issues like Sjogrens, PPI drugs, found to have mgus blood disorder and IBS since a child. I went from 100 lbs. To 80 on Evenity very sick, but will be done soon. I cannot walk and am in bed and chair throughout the day . Doing exercises in bed but no weight bearing. So wishing i did not have to take drugs as i am that rare bird intolerant or allergic. How do i decide which drug? I've studied both. Scary. I want to increase weight and PT that i can do aling with my medicine i think. Any thoughts are appreciated.
If not Prolia what pill would you suggest I have had ALL of the test done for Vitamin D and thyroid etc all came back normal. In my family is just a hereditary weakness. I have been on Risedronate Sodium for years and still losing bone Anything natural is not strong enough to help? Thank you. Sincerely, Jennifer ( broke two bones in my foot the last two years) Bone D was minus -3 something.
At 40 years old I did a open compound fracture of my tib/fib. It was done with a simple slip and fall. I hit a old broken antique table. I find out next morning during emergency surgery I have very advanced osteoporosis. Never had a clue. I have been on prolia injection for almost 5 years now. Recently broke my back falling down a handicap ramp. Now, wondering if prolia is even really working any more. Post surgical 4 weeks five level back fusion.
I have had only three doses of Prolia and want to go off the drug. I think the drug was prescribed on the basis of an inaccurate Dexa scan on a different machine than my usual scans. I don’t want to use Fosomax when I go off Prolia. I am in good health, quite fit ( aged 71) and have had no low trauma fractures at all. I wondered if my risks going off the drug are less because I have not been on the drug for long.

Hello Doctor I Receive Prolia shot every six months for Some reason I missed receiving the shot and doctors office told me that it’s been six months which I’ve never done that before but they didn’t send me any reminder I requested that they will send me a reminder and it didn’t happen and I request it again the question is that’s probably needs to be billed up in a blood again in order to be effective

I had my thyroid removed in 2003 due to thyroid cancer and am on synthroid. I also have Celiac. I was put on prolia for many years. My dr. wants me to go on a drug holiday. After seeing this video I am frightened to go off it but also concerned to stay on. The decision is very difficult.

I am taking Bone Strength by new chapter or garden of life Grow Bone. They contain algae calcium and strontium. Strontium causes the bones to absorb calcium.
Was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis six months ago after falling and breaking my wrist . Four months ago I was given my first Prolia injection, It wasn’t until after I had the injection that I was made aware of the horrible side effects. I went to see an Endroceonogist last week. She advised to continue on Prolia as my chances of breaking a bone is very high. I am sixty six years old. I go to the gym, I exercise and walk. I also take vitamin D and K2. Calcium in food. My next injection is due next month. I am scared of making a decision one way or the other. Can you offer any advice that may help me make this decision that can have a severe effect in my life one way or the other.
I am glad I did my own reearch after m dr recommended Prolia, which I refused. I was actually D3 and B12 low and prediabetic too. My OA was at the initial state. I know I got better just with improving my diet an increasing exercise with resistance training. I am not achy anymore, and my hip and knee do not hurt like they used too. I wll have another scan next year, but am not going on any drug for OA. I have never had a fracture, and I will be very safety mindful for the as I grow older.
Just watched this. I had adrenal cancer in 2003, which weakened my bones a lot. I’m on prolia now, had my 3rd injection. They keep telling me my bone density test is so bad. Had 2 hip replacements last year. Just saw a new endocrinologist . Thought she was good. Then she told me, i have to be on prolia for the rest of my life, or my bones get worse . then before. I broke my elbow 2014. I have thyroid problems, trying to get natural help, I’m losing tons of hair from the meds they gave me. I want to stop the prolia and don’t know how to tell her. I’m 62. Oh and my regular doctor tells me, now i have to take extra calcium being on prolia. But I’m not doing that.
On your commercial that shows the lady jogging in the park, why don’t you show her either picking up the pine cone in her path or at least kicking it off the walkway and not leave it for someone else to fall? “Love ye one another”
I have 5 Prolia injections and 3 weeks almost to the day after last 3 I have had severe bouts of Pancreatitis .. i am wondering if there is a connection between the injection and the Pancreatitis..
I have stopped ploria for 2 years and my bone density became worse than before . I was at osteopenia stage and now am in osteoporosis with high risk of fracture and Doctor put me again in ploria injection . I could not find why this happened although I exercise 4 times a week and take my vitamins and eat health ..

Thank you , have been on prolia for 8 years and didn't know about these terrible effects or that i had to stay on it ! I have low bone density but never had a fracture in my life, so i am wanting to stop prolia
Same as me but just had a DEXA waiting results. Had blood tests for red and white cells and platelets and parathyroid and all within normal range. I am not sure what the doctor will recommend for me to not get it any more. I have been taking for a few years now, D3, K2MK7, Boron, Magnesium glycinate, Vit C from acerola cherries, Zinc and some B vitamins. I felt like I betrayed and harmed my body even though I never knew the side effects and damages. Now I don’t trust PHarma meds at all.

Why is the transcript in a foreign language? I have been on Prolia for 5 years and it improved my bone density from osteoporosis to osteopenia. However I need to find a more affordable option that doesn’t threaten the bones in my jaw or unusual bone fractures. What is the safest way to do this? I am seeing an endocrinologist in September to discuss my options. What are some questions I should be asking?

I have only had one injection of prolia 7 .months ago. I don't want another injection of prolia. Will my bones be ok? My t score on my spine last November was -1.8. My hips were free of osteoporosis. Will my bones be ok without another dose? Please answer soon.
HI Geraldine, We understand how scary it can be when a doctor prescribes bone drugs. Thank you for reaching out with your question. As Prolia is a medication prescribed to treat osteoporosis, decisions regarding medication should always be made in consultation with your healthcare provider, as they have access to your complete medical history and can provide personalized guidance based on your unique situation. That said, a T-score of -1.8 for your spine and hips being free of osteoporosis is a positive sign. Lifestyle factors, including a balanced diet rich in bone-healthy nutrients, weight-bearing exercise, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, can contribute to bone health. If you would like to discuss your case directly, we offer online group Q+A sessions monthly called 'Office Hours' where yourself and others in similar situations can ask Dr. Brown your questions: shop.betterbones.com/products/office-hours-w-dr-brown?_pos=1&_sid=5a44b6dbc&_ss=r You can also learn more in our bone health online courses: shop.betterbones.com/pages/courses

I’m ten months out since last injection and am being warned that I must have another injection to prevent vertebral fractures. I truly dread another round Am I in danger if I opt out ? I am not prone to fractures and my diet is excellent as is my weight bearing exercise routine yet I feel like I am walking a tightrope of conflicting information

I have Osteo and right now now I am in a dilemma. I was able to get my density count to a better level a year of Actonel and then food only. They eventually put me on statins for plaque in my brain. My body couldn’t take it but for a year and a half I have been on one or another and then totally off. My bone density took a big hit. Now they want me on Prolia. I have refused so far. Will concentrating my efforts, drugless with a food program, be enough to pull the numbers back to sa safer level? I am 75.

I am 69, have had osteoporosis since my 40's & took Fosamax years ago, before it had a generic available. I took it 5 yrs as directed and maintained T scores but years after continued to lose more density. I had been monitoring my loss but no Dr told me about new drugs available to actually build bone until about 3 years ago. Thank goodness my new PC sent me to a specialist who recommended 2 bone building drugs. I took as directed, Forteo, a daily self injected shot for 2 years and BD test showedimprovement SPINE - 2.8 After Forteo -2.8 After Evenity -2.0. 2016, T score, TOTAL HIP -3.9, After Forteo -3.4 After Evenity, -3.2 2016, T score, FEMORAL NECK -2.9 After Forteo, -2.9 After Evinity, -2.8 2019 T score, L WRIST, After Forteo, -5.3 After Evinity, -5.7 Both drugs helped build bone and now I have to do something to maintain it. I am doing research on Bisphosphonates, pills, Fosamax, Actonal or Boniva or one- time IV Reclast . Dr said some have started another 1 yr of Evenity, after a year break. Not sure what I will do then but I am pleased with having BD improvement for now and will take something to maintain. However, leaning on NOT taking Prolia or Reclast as I want to be able to stop, without loss, at any time IF I have side effects.. If you have any suggestions or comments I would like to hear your advise. TNX, Sheryl

Wow; thank you for the information I like the idea of building new bones; not just maintaining osteopenia/ osteoporosis Asking what is the cause is a great question I think that is what is wrong with our medical system; the treat the symptoms and do not cure the root causes Thank you for sharing information
