I've been with my man since 2004 he won't marry me we don't have any kids. He puts down I'm a live in that hurts I've tried talking to him but it's no use.
@@jennyaldrich7456 I’m not a relationship counselor, but if that’s truly what you want and he doesn’t, maybe you both need to have an honest talk about if it’s worth it.. It was the opposite with my ex. She hated kids and wanted to live the high life which I couldn’t (and honestly didn’t want) to provide. I want a family and a regular life. We went our separate ways. It hurt because we were good together and best friends. But the differences were simply too much to deal with for a lifetime. Love and peace to you. Hope you find happiness
This is probably my favorite Clapton song. It is perfect. If one note is changed, it lessens the song. Perfect guitar work. Fantastic words. Eric's voice. And, yes, Marcy Levy's back up is also... Perfect. If I could only have one song to listen to for the rest of my life, this is on the short list.
Yeah, this song is flawless in every way. So soothing and ethereal and with Marcy's amazing backup voice it's hard to believe the song is about the end of a twisted relationship. Clapton's best.
You made me really listen to her. Simple short yet her voice is in perfect tone harmony, umm rhythm, sync? All the above? It is one of my favorite EC songs as well. Thanks for making me hear more than I did the last 100,000 times I listened to it.
Devastating lyrics set to a happy little tune. Weeping openly in the car the other day thinking about how it’s gone wrong with my wife of 20 years. The love of my life. Our granddaughter sitting in the backseat wondering why grandpa is crying…
This song touches the soul. It tells a universal story...promises end. Hearing it in a song confirms our shared experiences. So melodic and flowing. A masterpiece.
With a community in the mix for 7 generations you’d think couples cloud figure out what to do. Not having a community in place that knows to go to the couple and help them straighten things out is too common.
Never paid much attention to this song in my youth... it was just “a nice little song” played on the radio occasionally. Rediscovered it the other day when it was played on the intercom at the grocery store where I shop! Now, I can’t get enough of it!
Do a search for "Ripple" by the Grateful Dead. It's also a "nice little song" until you pay close attention to the lyrics. Then it changes your life and outlook forever. "Promises" does that too.
this must be played in supermarkets all over the place cuz thats where i heeard it yesterday. I tried to find the best location in the market to clearly hear it lol
This pretty song is NOTHING without the gorgeous backing vocals of Marcy Levy. Beautiful harmonizing. Beautiful composition. Their time and clear love for this particular piece of music, ring so beautifully clear in her backup vocals. This is something that no one anywhere does anymore. Anyone care to disagree? By the way, she also co-wrote Lay Down Sally. Yep! Happy stuff.
My Favourite song since age 21. I discovered it on Holiday in London. 1990. What an amazing blessing to have that song interwoven with falling in Love with London. Eric Clapton's Time pieces along with George Harrison's greatest hits and Queen 2 plus News of the World were rocked out all over Southern England. I loved my Sony Walkman! All cassettes for me then. Hope this brings a smile 🙂during a challenging time. 🙂🇬🇧♥️
@Sean Gill you're right tenderist (the way you spelled it) is not a word, however the way i spelled it "tenderest" is a superlative adjective , no charge for the grammar lesson today boys & girls...im feeling generous
This song reminds of my dad who passed away in 2016. One of the good memories I have. Probably haven't heard it in 30 years since I was a little girl. I love this song.
I love this song - very poignant. It demonstrates how sometimes people who love each other have trouble communicating with each other and so they have trouble.
The day after Thanksgiving. Listening to this song that I can relate too. Me and my wife split that days after Thanksgiving so many years ago. It still hurts and this is always my go to song.
I grew up with this album on cassette in my dads gf car.....this was absolutely my fav track....not wonderful tonight not lay down sally or cocaine.....this one!
My favorite part of this simple yet great song is the bridge at 2:00 through to the end of song, including his little "whoa" at 2:48 that my ears have never forgotten since the late-70's.
Causes bittersweet moments in how we ended a marriage. All he ever listen to from the back bedroom was an Eric Clapton CD while I listened to Men at Work from the front bedroom.
Young Choe The best thing happened after I had his sons move him out. My knight in shining armor was there for me! We are in an 18 year relationship. I found my very own Aussie from Land DownUnder!
Amazing - lockdown got me thinking of this song and took me an hr to remember it. Here it is. It got me through a rough couple of years - sooooo happy to hear it again.
I have fond memories of my mom picking me up as a toddler and dancing around to this song and Paul McCartney's "Another Day". I'm 21 now, and we still talk about those times every time we hear those songs in the car
When I was deciding to propose I heard Let it Grow and the words spoke to me. Now I am divorced and the lyrics to Promises have more meaning than ever.
I met a woman years ago at my job. She showed interest in me but I was unsure because I had just gotten out of a bad relationship. So I heard Hey Jude and that convinced me to go for it. She left me and moved to North Carolina to be with the man she was cheating on me with back in June. I heard this song for the first time in a while not long after. It certainly has a lot of meaning for me.
One of Eric's finest !!.....what a wonderful song from such a very talented artist......such a nice feelgood singalong song....la la la la la la la........god bless everyone and please remember to try and b kind to each other as good karma so important and love even more so....😇🥰😎❤❤❤
And I'd still love you If you'd just love me.... Sigh... Love this song....wonderful memories of mom playing this when I was a little kid...I remember always loving the voice of his background singer...it's crazy, but her voice was such that it reminded me of my grandma!! LOL!...I always pictured a sweet, slightly plump, middle aged granny singing backup...."La laaaaa, la la la la laaaaa"....crazy, I know!
I've been a huge Clapton fan for over 50 years. However this song, although being good, is far from my favorite Clapton songs, yet it has been truly significant in my life for 43 years! That sure seems like a long time when I think about it! Lol
This is a statement of who he is; a troubled songwriter trying to find love. In many ways it's more telling than any of his solos. There is an "easy acceptance" to the lyric of not caring that he betrays in the last line "i'd still love you if you'd just love me"
This song brings tears to my eyes it pretty much sums up what I went through with my first wife but everything turned out better in the end we both moved on with our separate ways
@@fumingriley Yep U r right Fuming Riley, it was taken from a Demo by Richard Feldman and Roger Linn, who Never Released their Own Composition. Eric did a lot of Covers though, especially J.J. Cale's Cocaine and After Midnight, but a lot of Blues Tracks by Legendary Artists as well. Cheers fm Damo.
wonderful poignant love song. you have to know his turbulent, passionate relationship with pattie boyd to understand the genius and the turmoil in many of his love songs
Beautiful brilliant 👏 harmonies by Eric....such a lovely feelgood song that just makes me feel such wonderful ❤ emotions ❤ ....God bless 🙌 ❤ b kind to each other ❤ 🙏 love animals ❤ and yourself ❤
Been there done that, I can relate! Lol. Although after 43 years, time has mostly dulled the pain. Yet there still remains hidden somewhere inside me...pangs, that deeply pierce my heart when memories of those days are brought to mind, as such this song has done! !
I remembered this song from way back and decided it would be a great song to sing at acoustic jams, but I am finding it very hard to sing because I tear up. The words are just so sad.
Nice, one of my favorites from EC. It has a nice rolling shuffle, great lyrics and backing vocals and a little slide guitar thrown in, pretty much perfection
As a little kid in the early 90s listening to this in my dad's car I always imagined the Sonic Green Hill Zone in my head, just rolling along in sunny skies, palm trees, and that beautiful sparkling blue water in the background...
Although retired, I drive in Sundays picking up medical specimens to be analyzed by our company. Just me in the car for 8 hours, with Pandora and a blue tooth speaker. Heard this today. Had forgotten about it. Will be adding it to my karaoke list for Wednesday night. Simple and in my range. Thanks EC
