For me, I definitely don't think Tommy could ever fill John's shoes. But he's totally wrong that fans don't like Circle of Snakes. It's a great record!
A personal note to Tommy Victor about his involvement in Danzig group.I absolutely appreciate you as a member of Danzig, I think you were a perfect replacement of any guitarist PERIOD. You have a distinctive style and for Glenn Danzig to request you for those albums & performances I honestly believe, as a follower and die-hard fan of all Glenn's work since I was introduced to his music in 1988, you could be considered a savior in the future of his career.Sincerely,Adam Carden Roth
Man- he is selling himself way too short- his work pretty much MADE the circle of snakes album. The main riff on 'When we were dead' was great. Skincarver was also great because of him. He added a lot of nuiance to Skull Forest. Just about every song on that album sounded like it could be the first closing credits song on something like a texas chainsaw massacre remake. He added a lot of modern kind of ambience to every song on that one. He especially sold himself short as to his work on Deth Red Sabaoth... I think his soloing on 'JuJu Bone' supplied the song with all its dynamic... he made a masterpiece of really slick and heavy rock/ metal with a slightly loose feel than just kinda grew out of the main blues riff. To me it was some of the best guitar work/ soloing EVER- but really outside of any genre... Tommy Victor is among the best ever at what he does in my opinion. He had to have had a much bigger part in the arrangement and kind of song structure of everything hes done with Danzig than he lets on...
No doubt ... as I said in some other video, Tommy has seemingly got some insecurities . John Christ is just a completely different player , just that .
"Circle of Snakes" is a dope record, and "Black Angel, White Angel" is one of the GREATEST Danzig songs fucking EVER!!! Lot of other good tunes on it like "Netherbound" and "Skull Forest". Tommy did good work with Glenn. We appreciate you dude.
great interview! Tommy Victor seems like a very down to earth guy. His work on deth red sabaoth was great. and Prong, in my opinion has been a very underrated band.

Man Tommy Victor is so cool, but I think he's right in most parts. Even though Circle of Snakes was quite cool, Deth Red Sabaoth was a lot better and his guitar style seems too far away from what Danzigs best stuff was. There a other guitarists that could support Danzigs songwriting better.

Tommy??? what are you saying??? We the hardcore fans love CIRCLE OF SNAKES. Some of the best DANZIG songs came out of that record - In fact last Oct. I told Glenn that my Fav. Danzig song is "netherbound" & "Black angel, white angel" is considered Top 10 Danzig best!
Deva Maria It's a GREAT album. There's tons of people that dislike Tommy's style, but he's done awesome albums with Glenn. Deth Red Sabaoth was INCREDIBLE.
Met Tommy and Raven a couple times during the Cleansing tour. Tommy was always cool, but Raven was downright friendly, offering drinks and food, sticking around and chatting, taking an interest far beyond what you'd expect from a guy in his 30s talking with a couple of teenagers. R.I.P.
I don't think he fulfilled John's role in terms of melodic solos, but the songs are insanely cool and the guitar tone is outright evil. I ended up listening to Tommy's albums way more than Danzig's first 4. Once I bought Deth Red Sabaoth, it was game over for me. Tommy floored me.
circle of snakes is great!!! only 2 albums by danzig are hard to love/hate are danzig 5 and 6! i like all the rest! skeletons is debatable new album at age 61 he did good, has a circle of snakes red ded vibe too....
All I know is that people are still singing songs that Danzig wrote. Creatives are hated by competitors, but as long as the supply is there, the demand will keep up. ;)
Met & talked to Tommy after the Prong show in Houston recently. Real nice, down-to-earth guy...And I also like and appreciate what he did in Danzig as well.
Tommy, you wrote “In My Veins”, which is one of the heaviest songs. I also enjoy your work with Danzig. Not sure where the negative feedback is coming from. People are idiots. Fuck ‘em
Circle Of Snakes is HEAVY! Yeah it had that Prong undertone, but it really gave Danzig a kick in the ass and for that it's one of the best, and my favorites Danzig albums!

Tommy has done way too many drugs I feel. Highly underrated musician for sure.
Circle of Snakes is a great album. Idk what Tommy is talking about as far as not being accepted. I luciferi and CofS were a great rebranding of classic Danzig, obviously not exactly the same, but it's still great. I was there for both tours, and they were amazing.
I don't know in the last part of the interview he says he will be recording another Prong album, But I think Glenn is going to busy with the MISFITS for a time .

Speak for yourselves. I agree with Tommy completely, and it's nothing personal, I've met and hung out with him on MANY occasions (I used to buy weed from his roommate, and occasionally him when he was in town, during most of the time he was with Danzig). I just never felt he was anywhere near Christ's level, and for the most part I hated the material that was released during his time with the band (which is really a problem with Glenn, as obviously he still writes everything that he releases). It's cool to see Tommy showing some humility here, but I think he's absolutely right about this. Barring a reunion of the original group, I'm pretty much done with the band, and have been for some time now.
