Met him in indianapolis years ago after a danzig show. He was winded and wanted to hit the road, but had time for some small talk and a crushing handshake 🤝🤘
Same here. I used to draw Freddy, Jason, Leatherface etc. in 5th grade. They made me go to a counselor and I was like, wtf, it's fake. I know the difference.
I think we all did, ha ha ha, I'd have caption on mine" One of the character's I drew had caption saying "Eat Shit and Die Mother Fucker!" and one of my teachers liked my art saw that picture and was shocked said "Eli!" I said what he showed me what he was refering to, didn't get into trouble though he was a good teacher, understood it was merely an expression of a then 11 year old, trying to add anger to the character. ha ha while at the time the said creature was tearing the throat out of his victim with his teeth.
Check out a cheesy '70s flick, ' snowbeast' scared the shit out of me as a kid, they hardly showed the monster but the fear factor was waaaay up.awful '70s hair & fashions, too!
Aw, hes a bit like a little kid at the end. Love it when metal guys show a bit of their softer sides. It puts even more life in the music 🤘🏻Thanks Glen!
I had the privilege of being a misfit's/samhain fan when they were originally in their hey day early to mid eighties and those years were the best for great underground music
I remember seeing Day of The Dead and how profoundly it affected me. Nothing was scary to me after that until I saw The Exorcist. That's the most horrific movie I've ever seen and I can't imagine how a movie could be any scarier.
Throwback to my parents getting calls from the school cause I wrote a story about a kid cutting out his parents tongues so they couldn't tell him what to do.. I wrote that as part of my SAT writing test...
Has Anyone noticed that if you painted stitches on Danzig's forehead, and put bolts on his neck, he wouldn't need any more makeup to play Frankenstien's monster?
Love all horror movies!! Classics and originals are the best in my book. I see he mentions Night of the Living Dead. Greatest movie ever made!! Love it so much, I own 5 copies including colorized version and was sweet to meet some of the original actors from that movie. Wonder if he likes the original Dracula movie with Bela on it or Creature from the Black Lagoon. My first movie was when I was 5. I saw Motel Hell. Made me not want to eat any meat sticks like slim jims for a long time. Glenn is a great guy. Awesome singer and very talented. Sweet he loves horror movies too. He also has great taste in books and comics too.
My love of horror showed up when I used to draw skulls with mohawks or skeletons with spiked leather jackets or even exploding heads complete with eyes flying. But my love of horror showed even more when I used to use my study hall time in school to not only do drawings, but write short horror stories. Anything from zombies, to people turning into other creatures to visits to a cemetary and have a really bad encounter with the grim reaper himself. I handed one of my stories in to one of my teachers and she returned it to me with a happy face and a comment of how I am a female version of Stephen King which was the best comment I ever got. Since that comment, I still, to this day, write short horror. Never published, but write. Maybe someday.
Misfits. Undoubtedly top in top three best punk bands all time. Early pre-Rollins black flag, and either Fear or Corcle Jerks are in the top 3, easy top 4 . Don’t get me wrong, DKs, Flipper, Angry Samoans , Germs, you want to fit em all in the top 3, but Misfits/Danzig created a whole new genre.🐀💥🔨🤘🏼🎸🇺🇸
I was fascinated with horror movies from the age of 5. My dad loved his B movies and obscure horror films. I spent many Saturdays watching monster theater, Godzilla, etc. My favorite genre by far.
When i was in kindergarten i used to read these serial horror monster books... Basically they were encyclopedias for monsters. I barely got to watch the movies but those images were awesome
Salem's Lot or Texas Chainsaw, the 1970s originals not the shite sequels. Tobe Hooper, a horror genius. Horrors using the psychological space between scenes to build up a sense of malevolence and also silence or creative use of music and sound.
Yes Texas chainsaw massacre is definitely one of the 5 best and scariest horror films ever. Tobe Hooper and wes craven are the horror masters for my money....
I think that his point is how reality is worse than fiction, like how the ending of "Suddenly, Last Summer" hit him harder than most any other movie did at the time. Those who have read the Verotik comics (like I did back in the day) will notice that other than "Satanika" or "Igrat"? The monsters are usually people being people, and people are not nice most of the time. That's what I think anyway.
When I was smaller, I used to draw creatures killing each other. Not that I'm proud of it but, it's funny how they were so horribly drawn no one knew wtf it was. Also THEAH COMing to GET EUW BARBERAH
I can agree like when you know what to expect in a horror movie is not scary even though it can be good or it can suck but when it comes to a scary movie is something you won’t expect and then you’re like wtf just happened 😮😅 hope I explained this as best I could but I get Glenn is saying here
No one else here seems to be pointing out the irony of a Glenn Danzig interview cutting to someone else talking about being in the backseat at the drive-in, so I'll do it instead..
I drawn shit like mass purges in cities (or a bit like the chaos you see in games like gta or something). I also drawn shit like star wars but if it was on adult swim. My teacher didn't liked it and thought that I was overly internal agressive and would shoot the school x'D
