I miss living in New Orleans. Was such a crazy adventure for me. Loved the people and they loved me back. One of the few places that everyone mixes and just makes it happen. Can always count on great food too.

I'm crackin' up because I live here and had the same issue when I first moved to NOLA. Had to ask on a regular basis how to pronounce a lot of the street names like Derbigny - that threw me for a loop.

My GPS always pronounced it "choo-pee-too-less". My least favorite embarrassing moments when i had customers though was when it would say Maurepas as "more-rapist" and Fa9ot as well... yeah. I had someone in my car while my GPS was screaming out turn on "Fa*got" street.

tbf the locals pronounce a lot of the street names wrong. if you are an literature major from any school outside south louisiana, be prepared for unusual looks at your confident recitation of nearly all nine names of the muses. (the less said about "cl-10" around first-timer tourists the better) and though a local may drink a glass of wine while wearing a deep maroon shirt and call each one "burgundy," they would never for a moment imagine how someone could drive on a particular street and not understand it to be called bur *gun* dee

​@@erinjh89NOLA people say it the "wrong" way ironically, the word is usually pronounced "BURgundy" with the emphasis on the first syllable but when referring to Burgundy in New Orleans natives pronounce it "burGUNdy" with the emphasis on the second syllable.
