The movie has an alternative ending which I'll admit, was kinda funny. So Matias goes to the place where he and Amaya shared their first kiss (he told her via text to meet him there) and finds out there's a hole in the ground with an open casket. Someone knocks him out and buries him alive. Amaya gets to the place but she can't find him, so she texts Matias and he tries to tell her but the members of the Circle change the texts, so he facetimes her and tries to tell her where he is but the Circle blurs his mouth so Amaya can't read his lips. Moral of the story: he should've learned sign language.

Here a fun fact! Unfriended: Dark Web, actually has different endings! I know that sounds dumb but the way that it worked is that different theaters would get different versions of the movie. So in some verisons of the movie some characters lives, one character lives, or none of them live. That's pretty cool imo.

Yeah it clearly showed the program translated what he was saying to ASL using him doing the signs, so something doesn't add up.

The sentence structure of ASL is different, so it's hard to put a coherent sentence together unless you practice a lot, even if you know all the signs. It's all Subject Object Verb, which is a bit backwards to spoken English. Instead of saying "I want that ball," you would say, "That ball, I want." You have to retrain your brain to think in those terms instead of what they used to do which is Signed Exact English, and is usually harder to understand since there are a lot of phonetic concepts that don't translate well. I took a really immersive ASL class my freshman year of college and I got so into it I actually started verbalizing in Subject Object Verb in my daily life to the annoyance of my family. And that was probably more than you ever wanted to know about ASL from a hearing person, lol....

The Dark Overlord I think that It works more in the first movies favor that the characters are unlikeable. See the whole plot of the movie is that some kids bullied a girl into killing herself, and now the ghost is back to kill them. See now imagine if the characters were like able the plot wouldn’t make any sense, and the film would be totally unrealistic.

So it turns out this movie was sent to theaters with two different endings and I got the one where Matias is buried alive. This does not make the movie less dumb. EDIT: Matias tries to contact Amaya to save him, and the “Charons” interfere with his messages so they say ‘I never loved you’ or something. Then when he calls Amaya they blur his lips so she can’t read them. But what’s important here is that Amaya survives. So that’s great.

Actually dark themed facebook messages that dissapeare is the most realistic thing about this movie. Messanger has (or at least used to have) a thing where you could send someone an "encrypted" message, but it opened a new "encrypted" chat and all the messages were black and you could set them to dissapeare after a certain amount of time after someone viewed them.

Really the only thing I can commend this movie for is accurately representing the struggles Deaf people go through trying to communicate with partners who outright refuse to learn their language, and try to find ways around it (like that "software". Can you imagine a whole relationship built on a shitty google translate?). Other than that it's shit, have a nice day

There is a director's cut with an alternate ending. She makes it and he -- at the end of the day -- should have learned sign language. STEVE should have learned sign language. The alternate ending was better in my opinion. I giggled so much. It was heartbreaking.

Oh, I kind of thought you would mention that the movie had a chose your own ending. I think it was 3 or 4 endings and like Clue different ones were shown in different theaters. I personally like the one where Amya lives but "Steve" gets buried alive and the fact that he couldn't be bothered to learn sign language was his death sentence (because sure it's cool that you made a computer program to talk with your girl but that won't help you in person and the time you spent coding you could have actually learned to sign).

I don't get why they didn't just write him as both having learnt sign language *and*, from that experience, help people who *don't* speak sign language by making the app so they can communicate with deaf people or something. Not to mention that if he made an *entire* *program* dedicated to this, I don't believe for a second he didn't learn sign language on the way. If I made a translator for spanish to english, there's no fucking way I'd be able to do it for the entire language without picking up at least decent levels of spanish unless my brain is literally incapable of making the tiniest of connections.

I once saw on a streaming site, another version of “unfriended” it was dubbed to English, but it seems that it may have been originally in German (the Facebook posts seemed in German to me tho I don’t speak the language) and I kinda liked it but, no one talks about that one??? I found it on Roku a long ass time ago, but the channel later got deleted and haven’t heard of that movie again since.

I would've chose to save Nari if I were her because even though my mother's life is on the line she's still dying while Nari isn't still and is the love of my life. If the choice was between 2 people who were already dying or not dying it would've been a harder choice but if it's a choice between someone who's dying and someone who's not I'm always going to choose the one who's not dying unless the person who isn't dying is someone who I don't know,love, and/or care about.
