I don't have much to add about this video specifically, but I wanted to let you know that watching your videos for the past 3-4 years has truly influenced positive eco changes in my life and my family's lives. We started composting last year! I picked up a whole bag of trash last Saturday hiking a trail! A friend of mine recently asked for laundry soap recommendations because she's tired of orange plastic bottles! Idk, I don't want to get too parasocial on you but I'm so glad that you continue to make these videos and emphasize small, easily attainable changes that build on each other over time. The work you do is SO important, Emma. Thanks again.

My experience in Brazil: most cities have curb recycling, second hand clothes are bad quality, but if you have time to search you can find good things, smaller cities are easier to be 0 waste in, you can buy a lot of vegetables locally and without plastic

I really appreciate your content and the way you present it. In my opinion, zero waste is more of a mindset rather than a specific goal. I also like the term "low waste" as an alternative. By the way, English is not my first language, but I have no trouble understanding you at your normal speaking pace. 🙂

The best thing is to start is what I've gathered. And I try to but it's definitely hard with someone who is very new and doesn't know what to do. I've done the bottle with the rubbish before but I've stopped cause it's hard to keep it going.

Really valuable video that counters the false idea that if you live in a community that doesn't have a very sustainable mindset, it isn't possible to live low waste - the 'if I can't do it perfectly then I can't do it at all' way of thinking. I also think it serves a valuable reminder that we should go easy on judging other people (and ourselves) for how they (we) live zero/low waste as everyone's way of doing it will look different depending on where they are and the circumstances of their lives.

Our condo HOA is going to sponsor its 2nd Swap Meet in March on a Saturday in the clubhouse. This is to encourage folks give away reusable items they would have just thrown out (HOA has to pay by weight for trash collection). Wanted to offer your channel another idea of how folks can get an HOA to be helpful in encouraging reuse, recycling, and now collecting food scraps for the city to compost. Oh, the HOA board created a new committee & asked residents to volunteer for the “Reuse Committee” to take on the zillion issues. The committee also informs the board on policies it needs in place to smooth out the processes.

@@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist it doesn’t just happen, people just make it happen. People tried to get me to run for the HOA board. No way, there’s a thankless job. I’ve done my time on boards… BUT, I’m on our safety committee & neighborhood CERT group, and volunteer for tasks that will sunset.

Where I am in Ohio the people throw garbage in the recycling so it obviously ruins the batch and it makes me crazy 😭🤣

We are low-wasters, but originally not by choice. How? Back when my now 25 & 28 were young, Oprah would do her annual earth day specials. I liked some of the ideas an implemented them, mainly to save money. We've had a vegetable garden since 1994, to save money. We composted, so we didn't have to buy any. I stopped buying single use items, once again, to save money. As someone noticeably older than you, I have definitely seen the change towards zero waste.

Hahahahhahaah I have to speed mostly everything I watch because a lot of ppl speak slowly or they drag everything. I like your get to the point content. Btw you don’t speak fast or too fast 😊 ❤ Also, I live in Texas and in the winter, we are encouraged to drip the faucet so that the pipes do not freeze. What can we do? And, I would love to collect (harvest) water but I am concerned about mosquitos and bugs and the containers are expensive. Any other tips? I know you have a video (few videos) on water conservation and I have seen them. I am not sure if I missed something lol

well, everyone has their preference and some people DO think I talk to fast haha. I'm a fast listener too so I feel you! You can either drip your faucet or let your pipes burst, that's up to you! You may also be able to look into replacing them with insulted pipes, I don't know if that's even a thing haha

I have never collected water where mosquitos are so I don't have tips! Some rain barrels are closed and connect to gutters so check that out
