During today's video we will engage in an activity which requires that you use your English know-how to help me correct a short passage (paragraph). There will be errors in both spelling and grammar which you'll need to help me correct!
Be sure to pause the video when told to give yourself ample time to complete this activity on your own first, before we review the answers! Best of luck!

1) use "and" instead of comma, 2) omit the comma after Lane, 4)His name" can be "He is named" but if the author wants to make it sound as sane, we should consider "He's named", 7) [If it's a series of adjectives, we should use commas and a conjunction], 8) [use commas] ;D

#8 You would use a comma after the word "but" when it is used to join two independent clauses.

@@LearnEnglishWithMatta I'm no stranger to hard work the only worry I have is learning tax law I'm from Germany and getting along with clients. Like I need to talk to them? Put on fake persona or something using voice if I'm not good socially and my spelling English not perfect?
@LearnEnglishWithMatta

@@rol407 Tax law?! That sounds like such a challenge, best of luck to you. With regard to your communication with clients, assuming they’re American (my perspective), we are a very forgiving people. Even if your grammar isn’t polished, so-long as you’re able to communicate your point, we tend to be very open and understanding. In the end, native or not, we’re all English learners. I may have to consult you for my taxes this season 😭

Sir, how do I have to use any symbol in proof reading in exam ? 🤔
@LearnEnglishWithMatta
@LearnEnglishWithMatta 6 месяцев назад
It really depends on the exam, however there are specific markings with regard to corrections being made. Google is a great resource, I wish I had a link to send you directly. However there’s a plethora of resources to show you with the different markings you can use. Hopefully this answers your question.

The first sentence with a comma makes it a comma splice. You should either put a period after Hammond or a semicolon.
@vero8pictures958
@vero8pictures958 Месяц назад
She is 💯 correct. This is definitely a coma splice. A coma comma splice is a grammatical error that occurs when two independent clauses are joined together with just a comma, without a coordinating conjunction (such as "and," "but," "or," etc.) or without appropriate punctuation. This individual shouldn't be teaching proofreading if they're making basic punctuation errors.
