Great work, sir. It looks great. I am looking forward to your Sci-Fi short film. I really can't wait. I think its great that you are trying new things. You never fail to impress.
I filmed it outside and it was cold. I think you can even see my breath in some of the shots. Its warmer in my workshop, but the light is better outside. :)
Your many projects have been an inspiration. I have not copied any of them, but still, an inspiration. I wish I had your vision and artistic flair. I build a 'space gun', but I don't know what to do with it.
We are more than happy for people to copy these projects (which is why we put them up on RU-vid). As to what to do with them, we use these props in our short films, it was one of the reason we started making short films to show some of the props we had made.
Love your style and work man! I plan on taking some tips to help me out since im a recent head in the prop department of my college film club and the best thing to do is learn new innovative techniques. Also, a couple things i noticed was the box at the front of the barrel was a little too bulky for my taste and the clip seemed to obstruct the sights so i would've used the bod to make the clip off-centered more and in place of the box shroud I'd have found some way to connect it to the trigger gaurd to use the wasted space there for a more sleek design. Again just giving you some of my thoughts and I love your stuff man!
I wanted to create a Bren Gun style prop, which is why I put the magazine on top, but I do agree the sights are blocked so its a considerable design flaw. Putting the magazine off centre would have been a better option.
still dude you have a great eye for design. and being a broke college student anything i build is the same way: I stand in a roon full of junk looking at objects and thinking "what could this be" and work from there lol. so your vids are really helpful so thanks for sharing your ideas man
Winging it. Filming the videos slows down the prop builds so I try to shoot the segments as quickly as possible, sometimes it requires quite a few takes as I start talking nonsense. Scripting it would improve the narration but would take more time.
It's A Trap! Where do you live? As far as I'm aware the UK is as absurd as Australia with it's gun laws; here having a magazine even if it were stripped of all working parts (spring and plate, so just pressed metal basically) you'd get 15 years prison.
I live in the UK and you can buy old gun magazines here (usually at militaria fairs) . I suspect I would have more problems If I had tried to get modern magazines. Where these are not available you can take them off toy plastic guns.
