Hi from over here in Perth. That sound of removing the dried leaves is soooo satisfying! 😂 I did the same today. Weather has only just begun to cool down in Perth FINALLY & it’s go time for gardening! 🚦🥳 I did so much today in such a short time it tired me out. Every year there’s more repotting to do. Ow my back!

The lemon and lime has become gorgeous! Mine has survived but not thrown any pup. The dreaded ferocious summers are here so need to ensure they stay alive. The var cotyledon long leaf is also looking very pretty. Just enjoy these propagation and cleaning videos.

🥰 learned something new...sedifolium. I have something similar, and now i know where to start. Currently mine has red dots. I'm trying to determine if it's rust or the color change. Have a good day and hope all goes with hubby. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and plants.

hey Liz what you do with root mealybugs? sometimes i just dont have the power to "restart" the plant🙃. best wishes for you and you hubby

Depends on the severity but I usually spray the roots with my Metho Solution(1 cup methylated spirit to 1/4 cup water), then inspect and spray again 24 hours later to be certain that they're all dead. If not, I'd wash the roots and remove all the soil and re-pot into a new soil.

When u say in the summer the plant dormant n go to sleep, do u mean it just stops growing, or they die, n everything above ground is just stems n mushy leaves, but in the spring the roots shoot up new growth n starts a new?
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 3 месяца назад
Some plants like the Cotyledon just stops growing as if in suspended animation. Others like some Sedum can completely die off to ground level (disappear) but comes back in spring.

Why do you propagate from leaves? It takes SO long. Unless it's like a super rare, hard to find variity n all u can get is a leaf? I know a bigger healthy cutting will do the best, n is preferable, but I just use a really small cutting if I'm limited to whats available, n that's way quicker than leaf prop. But maybe where u live they grow quickly, idk, but where I live they aren't worth the trouble

Waste not, want not 😊 as Liz would say ❤ Circle of life is so rewarding!

I have had many success in growing from leaves. When the plants are mature like in this video, taking cuttings can be a fast way of ending with a mature plants. But with the Echeveria Derlu(started as a cuttings) as an example, 4 plants in 3 years is too slow. I could have taken some cuttings in the first year, but no guarantee that the stump will produce any pups. It had a higher chance of just dying off, leaving me with no plant at all. Leaving the bottom leaves on the Derlu cuttings to root and grow will result with just one plant for a few months. Whereas removing the bottom leaves, increases the chance of growing more plants even if they take a few months to grow. I always say...."Waste not, want not."😊

I have a paint brush I keep near my plants and I use the paint brush to crush the aphids. I have a long form coltydon and I grew it from a cutting, I hope it grows big like yours!
