I cracked up when you tried to RDC using your newly-created account, exactly something I'd do 😁 Thanks a lot for the video, this is going to help a lot. Setting up folder redirection on my home domain and the permissions are very useful. I've worked for several MSPs and it's always such a pain dealing with this "issue", so this is great! Thanks again
What happens when the primary domain controller has to be replaced and the redirection folder and security settings has to be setup again? How can the existing data be copied to the new redirection folder with the security settings of the new DC
i want to redirect my Desktop and My documents folders to the Local PC D or E drive. as like, when a active directory user will login for the first time, instead of C-Drive his Desktop and Mydocuments folders will be created in Local PC D or E drive. please help me to do this
Hi, We have folder redirection set up and it works for the most part but some permissions are a bit jacked up from multiple admins over the years so I want to start from scratch, new server, new file share, new GPO, everything. When you created the "test" on the server as the admin and then it appeared on the Desktop for the user. Could you actually double click and access that file as the user? I have an issue at the moment where it doesn't inherit the original owner of the folder permissions to the file the admin creates. I know this may seem like a strange scenario that an admin would need to create files that a user can see and access but we have photocopiers that scan to SMB shares and we add user's in there to be able to scan stuff to their own documents but we use a global service account which has administrators rights to do this. What we tend to do is manually create a folder called "Scans" and ensure the user has full control over that folder and any child objects which works fine. But I was wondering if there is a neater and more automated way of doing this? Thanks, Mike
