Just drove through Salida, played some golf. Really liked the town. Decided to go on Zillow and some other sites to check home prices, and was shocked at the price of homes out there right now. More expensive than Seattle, Jupiter Florida, some parts of California…. What’s going on?? What kind of people are moving to Salida and what kind of local jobs are sustaining these costs in such a small town?? I would love to live there, but the home prices are just ridiculous for such a small town deep in the mountains. Please help me understand lol
Thanks for your comment. Yes, home prices in the Salida/ Buena Vista, CO area have increased in recent years. As have many popular places in CO. Our current Median Home Price is in the $600's to $700's. It has much to do with supply and demand. There is high demand in this area and not as much supply. There are some options outside of downtown Salida that are more affordable. Where were you visiting from?

I guess what I’m most curious about is what people do for work in Salida that can sustain such home costs? Does everyone work remotely? Or am I unaware of some sort of industry out there? I actually live in Walsenburg, temporary, transplant from Seattle, moved for work but have recently been looking elsewhere around the state for other affordable options. I love Colorado and the smaller mountain towns to offer, I guess I’m just still amazed at the amount of demand for such spots after the past few years. Thanks for the videos and information!
@@C-Weegs Thanks for the reply and explaining your situation a bit more. Yeah, demand in areas like this have actually increased in the past few years, especially with remote work. While there are some employers here, yes, it is a lot of remote workers who can make it work here. Also retirees. Finding a high-paying job here to sustain the higher prices can be a challenge for some. And welcome to the area.
