Sorry you had to work today, mate 😢 it happens, though. Totally understand. I love that you encourage everyone to attend church if they can. Keeping the Sabbath day holy is one of the 10 commandments, and it's actually given to benefit us! But many people don't seem to understand. Have you noticed that the saga of Nephi and his family can also be seen as an allegory for salvation? Jerusalem can be seen as a type of Babylon, and God calls his people out of Babylon, where they wander in the wilderness while He attempts to direct them to the promised land. You can see echoes of the Israelites being led out of Egyptian bondage. I've heard people say that the route that Nephi's family took could likely have been traversed in 2 or 3 months. Instead, they suffered for about 8 years!! You can see echoes of this earth being the wilderness God has called us to traverse en route to the promised land of heaven. This earth will be destroyed, but some of us don't see that. We aren't willing to leave the things of the world behind and go where God wants to lead us. We can't always see that through our hardships, where he's leading us is magnificent and better than anything we ever had in Babylon! 😊

@TorvicsVlogs you are welcome 😊 thanks for reading the Book of Mormon to us! It's delightful. There are so many things we can glean from these marvelous chapters in 1st Nephi! They aren't exactly a church, nevertheless, notice how they are led by a prophet. Lehi. Even Nephi, with his visions and talents and amazing experiences, defers to the prophet. When Nephi has these amazing visions and visitations, his brothers are jealous and say, " God made no such thing known unto US!!" Nephi tells them that they COULD see exactly what he is seeing! It reminds me of something that the prophet Joseph Smith said. He told the early elders of the church that there wasn't anything that God was revealing to him that they couldn't also have revealed to them! Amazing!!! ( he didn't mean revelation for the direction of the church. That is only ever given to THE prophet, but all else, they could see if they were humble and righteous enough to see!) Faith and unity are necessary to make our journey smooth. When they were faithful and unified, the liahona worked, and they made quick progress towards the promised land. But when they were unfaithful and not unified, the liahona didn't work, and they wandered aimlessly and needlessly. We tend to do the same as a people. Nephi seems to have greater patience than the average person because he has seen how this all ends! He knows that they all make it to the promised land regardless of his brothers trying to despose of him. He can bear the now because he has seen the ending. Most of us haven't literally seen the ending, but we have seen it through the scriptures and the words of the prophets. We know the ending. And it should give us patience to bear our trials in the here and now. 🙂
