Prophecy 101: False Prophets, Prophets, and Prophetic Words with Kris Vallotton | Learn More Here: bit.ly/2SiVAJQ
Watch as Bethel Senior Associate Leader Kris Vallotton and Bethel Associate Pastor and Dean of BSSM Dann Farrelly talk about prophecy and discuss in-depth false prophets, prophets, prophetic words, and prophecy's importance in the lives of everyday believers of Jesus Christ.
The Prophetic Ministry of Bethel Church is about igniting purpose, hope, and identity through the gift of prophecy. We are passionate about teaching, equipping, and activating believers in the gift of prophecy and words of knowledge in the local church at Bethel, at BSSM, and in churches worldwide.
The heartbeat of Bethel Church's Prophetic Ministry is anchored in 1 Corinthians 14 - "Pursue love and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy," and it is our mission to see men and women rise up in the prophetic.
For years now, the gift of the prophetic and the office of the prophet have been growing inside and outside of the church. However, one of the greatest challenges for a prophetic person is finding and being connected to a healthy community. We believe that prophetic people find their greatest expression and anointing when rightly connected to healthy leadership, community and training. If Heb1:1-2 is interpreted that way, then there’s no need for Paul, Peter, John etc to write the epistles Ir books after the gospels bcoz Jesus has ascended already. They should just say, hey guys, sorry, we can’t write anymore bcoz only Jesus can speak to you.

They didn’t have the finished canon at that time. Now we have the complete Scriptures. “Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? Maybe if some of y’all stopped criticizing and actually dove into the prophetic with God you’d actually have encounters where you hear Him speak to you in His own way. I’ve had many times God has told me things that would happen before they did, as well as given me words of knowledge about strangers I never met, and those words of knowledge ended up being the reason people came to the Lord. If you come humbly there is always something more to walk away with than sneering and criticizing everything you disagree with

Matthew 7:15, Jesus says "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves." It is dangerous, friend. Not merely criticism and sneering. But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.' And if you say in your heart, 'How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?'- when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him. Deuteronomy 18:20‭-‬22 ESV This man has taught against this passage in order to protect himself. False progress tend to make for themselves safety nets. Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. I coveted no one's silver or gold or apparel. You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities and to those who were with me. In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" Acts 20:28‭-‬30‭, ‬33‭-‬35 ESV

“Dove into the prophetic with God”… can you explain what this means? Also, if God tells you to say something to a person but they believe God is telling them something different… who is God truly speaking to? Also, since God is speaking to people today… should we add to scriptures? Is it always perfect or is it okay to be off by a little bit sometimes? @@monakelley4699 it's not simply about disagreeing. I listen to plenty of people I disagree with. A mature person should be able to do this. The issue comes where teaching and prophecy is damaging because it's twisted and unbiblical, not just opinions. Jesus warned: "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves." We can identify a false prophet by their prophecy not being fulfilled. Bethel teaches that is not the criteria, contrary to scripture. The reason I personally speak out about this is not about me. And I can definitely agree people do that. A false teacher and prophet is making a spectacle of themselves, surely! But many others would challenge these things the same reason I do. To point others away, like the bible says to avoid unsound teaching and expose evil. John 3:20 ESV For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. Ephesians 5:11 ESV Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

This is a very good basics for prophecy that many can learn more, not taught much in many local churches. Believers end up making wrong judgments on prophets and the prophetic in general. It’s honestly a great twisting of Scripture. Malachi 4 is about John the Baptist, not about all prophets. Also what he is reconciling is God’s people (His family) to Himself, both Jew and Gentile. It’s about the gospel, salvation, redemption. “And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”” - Luke‬ ‭1:16-17‬ ‭ESV‬

@@adenwade1260 I disagree with that interpretation. John is the greater prophet because he got to see what the previous prophets only wrote about or had visions about. He was the messenger of Malachi 3 and 4. However, how was those who followed greater than John? Because all those who follow Jesus in faith are declared righteous and blameless by grace through faith. They receive Christ’s righteousness in their place. 2 Cor. 5:21. That is how those who follow (including believers today) are least in the kingdom but “greater” than John. John was the last OT prophet but those who trust Jesus are of the New Covenant. That’s what Christ calls to: to serve rather than be served. To be last. Jesus is talking about our justification (legal standing before God), not some sort of gifting. Bethel looks for opportunities to make passages about the good news of the gospel about how man attains some higher status.

That's just it there are no modern day apostles or prophets. An apostle would have to had been an eyewitness of the risen Christ, no one today saw Jesus after his resurrection and prophets were only active in the old testament, bringing and pointing us unto Christ. God speaks to his people today through his Son Christ Jesus via the Holy Spirit from the written Word of God, Hebrews 1: 1 "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds". There are no new revelations of scripture, if somebody says differently they are adding to the scriptures and will reap God's wrath in Revelation 22: 18-19.18 "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. (God's prophets of old heard him perfectly) they did not have to guess or wonder if God was speaking to them. Many false prophets have come on the scene in these last days, and if you say "Thus saith the Lord" you better be reading from the word of God because he is not speaking audibly to his people today. Matthew 7: 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

This is good. I realized that the most common problem in the church which resulted in all those negative things in the prophetic is the lack of understanding between the old covenant and the new covenant. You cannot use the old testament without seeing it in the lens of the finish work of the cross thats why paul said here. Now we know [without any doubt] that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully and appropriately, understanding the fact that law is not enacted for the righteous person [the one in right standing with God], but for lawless and rebellious people, for the ungodly and sinful, for the irreverent and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for sexually immoral persons, for homosexuals, for kidnappers and slave traders, for liars, for perjurers-and for whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted. - 1 Tim 1:8-11 Thats the biggest error and problem in a lot of churches right now.

In their explanation of “prophecy” they give an excuse for “false prophecy”, they said at around 19:44, “no one hears perfectly”, meaning, no one that is a believer that is prophesying will get it right 100% of the time because no one hears the Holy Spirit speaking perfectly. So they may misunderstand what is being said and prophesy the wrong thing. What this does is introduce doubt about everything written in the Bible. If the New Testament is inspired by the Holy Spirit, written by believers inspired by the Holy Spirit, then it’s possible they wrote something not quite right, because “no one hears perfectly.” Now if they deny this, then their statement is wrong and actually people can hear perfectly. Either way they are wrong in what they are saying. God is not ambiguous when He speaks to His people. I haven’t even touched on the fact that not everyone that is a believer is supposed to prophesy. It is actually written in the Bible that only some prophesy. Paul asked a list of rhetorical questions in which the answer was “no”, in first Corinthians. One of those questions was: “Do all prophesy?” No. Any teaching that says everyone should be operating in all the spiritual gifts is ignoring the scriptures. In the same book of corinthians, Paul says that each believer is given “a” gift as the Holy Spirit sees fit. And it is not for that person but for the building up of the church. Can you have more than one gift? Yes. If the Holy Spirit sees fit to give more than one.
@thirdparsonage
@thirdparsonage 2 года назад
The problem with that particular position is that it does not take account of all what scripture says about the subject. It's not sufficient to look at one or two scriptures on a topic and come to a particular conclusion. The trick is to look at all of the scriptures on a topic. On many topics, there are seemingly conflicting things said in scripture, such that we need to figure out how they both can be true. Paul does say that not all prophesy. And he also says "all may prophesy" Paul says to eagerly desire the gift of prophecy, arguably implying that all may potentially prophesy. Acts 2 (from Joel 2) would seem to imply that some kind of prohecy would be done by essentially all God's children. So the trick is to figure out how all of those scriputes can be harmonized. It seems likely that Paul was indicating that there would be differing levels of the ability to prophesy. An analogy could be made to the gift of teaching. Not all have the same gift of teaching, such that they would get up front of a group and give a Sunday sermon. But every Christian can teach, even if it's just telling another person about John 3:16. All can teach, even if only at some very basic level, and even though not all have the "gift of teaching." And I would argue, all can prophesy even though not all have the "gift of phophecy." That would account for the fact that in one place Paul says that not all prophesy (not all have a significant gift of prophecy), and in another he says that all can prophesy. On another note, why would Paul ask the Corinthians to judge prophecies if they were not frequently getting both good and also not so good prophetic words. And why would he say not to despise prophecy? Presumably there was a big temptation to "despise" it since there were varying degrees of accuracy with it. I've yet to see somebody who thinks that New Testament prophecy is infallible give a good account for why they were having people prophesy and then judging those prophecies. If somebody says something while preaching or teaching up front that is technically incorrect, does that make them a false teacher? If so that would mean that possibly 99.9999% of all teachers are false teachers, for no two people agree 100% on every minute area of scripture. Typically we would reserve the term false teacher for somebody who errs quite significantly on high level Christian teaching (possibly with ill intent) and who refuses to be corrected when approached. Likewise, when it comes to prophecy, just because somebody gives an inaccurate word does not in itself indicate they are false prophets. We should expect there will be errors and room for growth just as with the area of teaching.
@onehappydawg
@onehappydawg 2 года назад
@@thirdparsonage To address your first example is fairly easy. When he says all may prophecy in context he is talking about those who have the gift of prophecy. Just like Paul says, not all prophesy. So he says, those of you that have the gift of prophecy they may prophesy is order. All believers are given at least one gift by the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit sees fit. That is what the scriptures say. That does not mean that you can only have one gift. Paul says to pursue prophecy. That does not mean you will get that gift. If the Holy Spirit sees fit He will allow that believer to have that gift. Just like Paul says, “not all prophesy” So not all believers are supposed to be going around prophesying over others. They are only speaking things out of their own hearts and are not speaking for God. They are doing exactly what all the false prophets were doing in the Old Testament.

When God says that He is going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah and then Abraham asks Him if He will spare the city for the sake of fifty righteous people (and later forty, thirty, etc, down to ten), isn't that God putting a limit on His own actions? When God says He is going to destroy the Israelites and start over from just Moses, and then Moses talks Him into sparing them, isn't that God limiting His own actions? When God talks repeatedly about judging Israel and later Judah but giving them some measure of grace for the sake of King David and the covenant that God made with him, isn't that God limiting Himself? David says in Psalm 139 "Oh, that You would slay the wicked!" But yet many times God doesn't do so. What part of this are you finding it hard to agree with? I'm trying to understand where you're coming from.

I had two very special words from the Lord in regard to the correct interpretation of the Daniel tribulation timeline. I don’t consider myself a prophet, but when you experience audible messages in the night like Samuel did, it makes you pay attention. The experiences occurred in a few weeks in the southern summer of 2011 - 2012 and were followed by a vision of the nature of the universe. Suffice to say the messages are challenging because they show that Daniel’s 1,335th ‘day’ begins in 2024. It is all laid out with a travelogue of an eastern Mediterranean journey which included the Holy Land and (as it turned out) a visit to the Harlot City, Babylon the Great months before the ‘Arab Spring’. ‘Seven Times: Egypt to Istanbul’ published by Scope ‘n Compass.

The fivefold ministry Prophet that is named in Corinthians. As in apostle,evangelist, prophet, teacher, pastor. So the office refers to someone who’s anointed by God to hold the position, recognition, and responsibility of being a prophet over a specific people group or industry, nation… whereas being prophetic is something every believer can participate in.

@@adwoagyabaah9227 -- "...office refers to someone who’s anointed by God to hold the position, recognition, and responsibility of being a prophet..." -your words. ...I was hoping not to learn that definition here, because in the Old Testament those who claimed to speak for God in their so-called "office" were held to a strict standard of judgment by Yahweh; death for a false "prophecy". ...Even should a "prophet" declare a word and it does not take place or come to pass, "that is a message the Lord has not spoken” -Deuteronomy 18:22 ... And since the punishment for speaking falsely in God’s name was death, I am surprised that modern "prophets" do not take that admonition seriously today, -Jeremiah 14:14 ...Bethel's own Bill Johnson prophesied over, and accepted Todd Bentley, into the "office" of prophet, and co-ordained him in a public meeting with Peter Wagner in Florida; this is all a matter of public record. Bill Johnson has not so much as retracted his demonstrably false "prophetic" utterances on that day or offered an explanation to his followers. ... Numbers 15:32-36 32 While the Israelites were in the wilderness, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. 33 Those who found the man gathering wood brought him to Moses, Aaron, and the whole congregation, 34 and because it had not been declared what should be done to him, they placed him in custody. 35 And the LORD said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death. The whole congregation is to stone him outside the camp.” 36 So the whole congregation took the man outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Shalom men of God and many blessings to you and your beautiful families. You both said some beautiful things. I did my best to listen very carefully to what has been discussed regarding this subject matter and I do appreciate you both for taking time out to discuss this issue because the gift of prophecy has not been treated with the upmost respect by some and it has been handled as a common instrument instead of a gift that carries the breath of God. Prophet Vallotton you both stated that in the old covenant one of the roles of the prophet was to judge the people and enforce the covenant, which is true. And Prophet Vallotton you believe that in the New Testament that role changed for the prophet because of the new covenant. Yes we have been reconciled unto The Father through Jesus Christ under the new covenant but the prophet's role has not changed. Because covenant can still be broken by sin. And this is proven by the fact that we have grace. If the new covenant could not be broken by believers there would not be any need for grace. But since we all are still under processes that deal with us dying to the flesh daily, prophets are still entrusted with the task to judge sin and deal with the immorality of man. Prophets have to confront immoral behavior and sin so people can learn how to come out of it and learn how to express the true origin of their kingdom design. Prophets have a responsibility to not only judge prophetic words and prophesy, but they teach and instruct as you already know. Prophets cultivate, refine, spiritually groom, and help people develop in the image of The LORD. Prophetic believers are also entrusted to minister to the inner man in a way that helps the inner man to come into a pure and healthy transformation. Prophetic words are not to just make people feel better or make them feel encouraged. Prophetic words are to bring people into real transformations with Jesus Christ. In Matthew 5:17 Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." Jesus did not only come to fulfill the law, but He came to fulfill the image of the prophet as well. Because the prophet plays an important role in the new covenant. The prophet help people come out of sin. They help people see the need for redemption. That is what the law did. Prophets move like the law. The law helped people to see their need for restoration and regeneration on the inside. And prophets move in the same fashion. They help people see the importance of being born again, and the importance of true transformation. And that cannot be done without dealing with sin and immoral behavior. Jesus came in the earth to demonstrate the true origin of man's design. Jesus used His life to show mankind how they are built to function in the earth, even in their prophetic nature. Jesus is seen moving in the prophetic and moving in the office of a prophet throughout the New Testament. He did not give only encouraging words, but He dealt with the immoral and fallen state of man. He judged cities (Matthew 11:20-24), and judged the religious sect when they said He moved in the supernatural by the way of demons (Matthew 12:24-37). Jesus gave warnings. And He showed people the importance of rebirth and being set free from behaviors and manners that were damaging and destructive to man's image and existence. Jesus was not only teaching His disciples how to move as apostles, but He also taught them how to move in the prophetic. Remember (Acts 5:1-12) when Peter was used by The LORD to rebuke and judge Ananias and his wife Sapphira for lying to The Holy Spirit? Peter was also used in the prophetic during the day of Pentacost (Acts 2:14-47). Peter not only encouraged the people during Pentacost but he dealt with the immoral nature of man and showed the people the importance of repentance and redemption. This is what prophets and prophetic people do, they point people back to Jesus Christ. They point them back to the origin of their existence. We can also see Stephen (Acts 7:49-60) moving in the prophetic in this fashion as well as Apostle Paul in the book of Acts and in the epistles. They dealt with sin and immorality as well as encouraged, exhorted, and edified. And as for edification, this word is built around cultivation and refinement. It is centered around believers coming into the image of Jesus Christ. In 1 Corinthians 14:4 it says, "he that prophesieth edifieth the church." And in verse 5 it says, "for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying." This reveals that prophecy is about bringing people into processes with refinement and cultivation. Prophecy is designed to help people transform into the image of Jesus Christ. Edifying is about building, which is associated with the actual reconstruction of the inner man and the healthy construction of Christ's Bride. Dealing with the immorality of man is done with God's love and His grace. You made a beautiful statement about finding treasure in people. I agree with the intimate act of "finding the treasure or the gold" in a person through the gift of prophecy. People need that kind of encouragement. And people also need the truth about sin and immorality. Because to expose people to the truth about these things is to help them understand how the enemy satan has been having a foothold in their life. This helps to protect them from feeling as if they are being condemned or judged in an unlawful manner. Approaching the fallen state in this fashion gives room for them to see that Jesus Christ truly cares about the value of their existence. This promotes healthy change and real encounters with Jesus Christ. Because "for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." Prophecy is centered around Jesus Christ. Prophecy carries the evidence of His life and image. So if a prophetic word does not enjoin a person to a relationship with Jesus Christ or a much more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, one does have to question that prophetic word. Because prophetic words do not place the light, focus, or attention solely on the individual but on The LORD. And by the way. You were not wrong about President Trump's 2nd term.

Prophet of God, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience in the prophetic. I believe that many of things will be blessing to me. I heard you speak about not calling people's sins out when we deliver a prophetic word because you believe we must focus on the treasure that's in their hearts. It sound like a wonderful and encouraging thing to do. However, I have a concern about it because the word of God has reference for prophetic word that included parts where the Lord sent someone with a message that called out their sins and the need for them to come back into alignment with His word. I have read such prophetic words in Revelation 2: 1 - 3: 22. The apostle John received these prophetic words directly from the Lord Jesus Christ. You have given us the interpretation of the word "treasures," however, I have not heard you provide sufficient scriptures to back up your teaching concerning how we should focus more on not giving prophetic words that call people's sins out. The scriptures from the book of Revelation do include parts where the Lord gives the churches a way they can be reconciled with Him. Your content on the prophetic is very enlightening. However, this time I don't agree with what you are teaching because it does not provide me with adequate scripture to follow your revelation. The prophet Samuel had the habit of calling people's sins out and Saul was one of those individuals. You said that God told you that you needed to deliver prophetic words the way He intended for you to do it. Help to understand how the scriptures from the book of Revelation should be applied when we deliver prophetic words.

There are some scriptures in the Old Testament I specifically talk about false prophecy that affects both the Old and New Covenants first of all the one in Deuteronomy 13 when the word of the false prophets come to pass you'll recognize them when they want you to go worship other gods and then it says God is testing you Jeremiah 23 is a very easy one for me to fall find false prophets Jeremiah 23:22 but if they had stood in my Council and had caused my people to turn from their evil ways and from the evil of their doings and Jeremiah 23:29 is not my word as a fire saith the Lord and like a hammer that taketh the rock into pieces? Fire cleanses and purges and the hammer that breaks the frog is breaking bondage has the word of God that comes both from the prophet and out of the mouths of anybody and even the Bible will cleanse asperges friend break bondages That is how to spot a false prophet is that they will turn you from other gods and they will not repent of their sins and turn from their Wicked Ways and they will not cause the people to do so Also in Isaiah 8:20 to the law and to the Testimony ,if they speak not according to this word, it is because their is no light in them. The scripture is talking about the law is the word of God and keep his Commandments and the testimony is a testimony of Jesus Christ in Revelations 12:17 Matthew 22:37 don't show love the Lord my God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind Matthew 22:38 and the second is like unto it ,though shall love thy neighbor as thyself Matthew 22:40 on these two commandments hang the law and the prophets If you notice it says these two scriptures handle on the prophets they fulfill them you cannot obey all the Ten Commandments without first doing the two greatest Commandments the first four Commandments of the Ten Commandments fulfill the greatest commandment the last six fulfilled the second greatest Commandments because love never hurts anybody and God is love but if we do not obey the Commandments then we do not show we fear God nor do we show that we love God there is no such thing as an old-time prophet and a new Prophet they're all the same it's all one book to believe otherwise is deception you need the Holy Spirit to understand the word of God and if you do not have understanding you will not have the power of God which is God in you which is the Holy Spirit Sardis in Revelation 21:3 also had no understanding Job 28:28 says understanding is to depart from evil And Proverbs 21:16 the man that wandereth away from understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead. If you're in the congregation of the Dead then you do not have the Holy Spirit if you do not have the Holy Spirit than you will not make it to heaven I hope you really really sick the Lord on this because you're wrong and you really need to repent I'll keep you guys in prayer

A false prophet would be someone that tells people something opposite of what the bible says. God will never say something that does not agree with the bible. What is said must come true. Sometimes true prophets learning God’s voice can mess up and not be false prophets. It takes awhile to learn the differences. Concerning the bible: it seems to have many inconsistencies, however the more you read it the more you understand what is actually being said. The verse you quoted is a bit difficult to explain. You guys moving the goal post. The only way to judge a Prophet is this... does he prophesy right or false. Simple. That's it. God doesn't lower His standard because of the old or the new Testament. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. You can have a great character but be a false Prophet. You can have a thriving Church but be false teacher. Also the scripture about prophesying in part doesn't say prophesying falsely, it means that God doesn't give you the whole picture but He still requires that you prophecy that part accurately. Your conversation is filled, sad to say with a lot of excuses. A false Prophet speaks falsely. With your comments you just added more self-appointed RU-vid prophets, you lowered the standard. By the way consider the love and severity of God which keeps you in the Fear of God. True PROPHETS give you the whole counsel of God. God warned very sternly NOT to add to His Words. The reason why the prophetic movement has such a bad reputation and lacks credibility is because of false prophesies and missing major world events that happened. The grace of God here it is .......For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, Titus 2:11‭-‬12 NKJV The true PROPHETS need to walk and act under the true grace of God. Denying ungodliness, prophesying righteously, NOT falsely. My God, why is this so hard to understand because you making excuses for yourself.

This attitude of saying we have an R&d culture with respect to prophecy is very dangerous and unbiblical. It is unbiblical in the 1st Corinthians says to desire the greater gifts (1Co.12:31), but nowhere does it say you can practice and experiment, assuming you have the gift. It clearly says that the Spirit gives the gift as he desires (1Co.12: 11, 18, 28-30). Also the scripture is very careful to say that any prophesied needs to be judged on the spot with others bearing witness, and to readily reject false words, to protect the gift and protect the one behind ministered to. (1Co.14:27-29) It is also unbiblical in the sense that tongues is a gift to prevent and accompany prophecy as a witness to it and safeguard from generating your own thoughts and claiming them divine. If a person cannot yield themselves to the Spirit to allow Him to give him words he cannot understand, how is that person to be trusted to be given words he can understand?? These are gifts and not toys to be played with. They are holy and not common and base. It is dangerous psychologically, in that when you were asking people to stretch out with their imaginations, and guess, with their thoughts... the person develops no discernment between their the voice of their own thoughts and the voice of the Lord. There is no sense of reverence for the fear of the Lord, no check in the spirit to take the name of the Lord in vain, but actual encouragement to do so. The immeasurable damage, done to people receiving false words and giving false words is huge. This is recklessness.

On the flip side, if you say it and it doesn’t happen, is that just “not hearing clearly”, “getting wires crossed”, or even “people didn’t have faith” or, as scripture says, that’s a false prophet? Here’s some problems: the role of prophet never changed The New Testament states that a man will repent when the secrets of his heart are disclosed, his secret sins But no one can tell you these things because you have so built your position so as to be impervious to rebuke and sound doctrine. You also can’t build doctrine off of one verse. Just saying the ministry of reconciliation means you can’t call out sin is a super stretch. But who cares about this comment right?

40:14 Mm, Timothy also says nothing about the elders giving a gift. Reading through several translations you'll find that it was the holy spirit imparting gifts. It was not a gift of one person being shared to another. The original text just says that laid hands, cheirotonia, which isn't some sort of transfering power. Its saying what we do, and they just prayed to the spirit.

Oof. Marker 55:18 Corinthians 25:14 uses the word Krypta for secrets. There is no way to misinterpret this for the commonly used thesauros, treasure. Considering this is used throughout the New Testament is a sense of the hidden things will be brought to light, shameful hidden deeds, it really seems like this means sin, not treasure. It is not the treasure in the heart of man that leads to repentance, but a recognition of the Grace that covers there sins. So, in essence, 100% wrong about the salvation brought to the unbelievers who here prophecy. Now we can talk about bad interpretation leading to bad implementation and the streets ministry that bethel is familiarized with. You see the problem here being the pride of man. @kevmv1 so Jesus has paid for everyone's sin but they have to receive it? The problem with that is that means there are people in hell who's sin is "paid for" but yet they are suffering in hell for it? Either it is paid for (which means universalism) or Christ paid for the sins of those who believe. It's difficult to be somewhere in the middle of that. Jesus lays his life down for his sheep...not everyone. John 10.
@jonathanchaney5896
@jonathanchaney5896 3 года назад
@kevmv1 I've taken Greek, I'm aware of kosmos. The question I would ask is how do you get the meaning of kosmos here to be "all of creation"? We may read "world" to mean every single person but that's not how the biblical writers would have understood it at that time. In John 17, Jesus says he doesn't pray for "the world" but only believers. In John 10, he lays down his life for "the sheep". In Matthew 1, Jesus is said will save "his people" from their sins. If you interpret that Jesus died "for all people", then there are people in hell right now who's sin has been paid for but they are still suffering? What did Jesus' death accomplish? Did it make salvation possible or did it actually do something?
@jonathanchaney5896
@jonathanchaney5896 3 года назад
@kevmv1 Friend, I'm not trying to prove the Bible wrong. I'm actually trying to help you see just how powerful the atonement really was. Jesus doesn't just make forgiveness possible and it takes faith to receive it. But rather Jesus died for every person God knew would believe. As John 3:16 literally says in the Greek "all the believing ones" (whosoever is not in the Greek) You're right Jesus knew that only some would become believers, that's why he doesn't pray for the world, but rather only for believers. He lays his life down for his sheep, not everyone. He doesn't lay down his life for the wolves, wouldn't you agree with that?
@jonathanchaney5896

@kevmv1 are you sure about that? Look at this one verse: John 15:19 - " If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." Do you think that every use kosmos here means "all of creation" or is Jesus making a play on words and using figurative language?

Ephesians 4:11‭-‬14 ESV Travis, is it your understanding that those conditions have been fulfilled? If not then we're still intended to have prophets.
