“As to the divination which takes place in sleep, and is said to be based on dreams, we cannot lightly either dismiss it with contempt or give it implicit confidence.” These were the words of Aristotle, written in 350 BCE, and taken very much to heart by a British psychiatrist in the 1960’s, when he took on the monumental task of collecting and collating hundreds of premonitions from across the country, with the ultimate goal of not only researching the phenomena, but then also using the data to avert disaster and perhaps even to save the world.

The sound of your voice possesses certain hypnotizing qualities that I would listen to it even if you went through a phone book

I consider it the perfect algorithm hack. His voice lulls me to sleep, but the story is compelling enough that I have to listen again and again until I have heard it all. And sometimes I play them again just to hear even if I don't listen. It really is a splendid thing Ben's doing here.

My favorite podcast voice ever ever ever. Languid and sleepy but the accent adds something.

I remember the Aberfan disaster. I was 14 and all the kids at school were really affected by the thought of it, even though we were in the US. I did have to shake my head at Barker's joyous reaction to a "successful hit" when some plane crashed or a trail derailed, leaving hundreds of people dead.

In the case of Aberfan, the danger the tips posed and worries raised by minor slips had been raised before. As a kid I remember imagining all sorts of natural disasters I'd learn about befalling me, I wouldn't be suprised if children like Eryl Mai Jones heard adults discussing the issue and had similair (though sadly far more prescient) thoughts about the tip above their school. The sad thing is, perhaps if Bureau was observing Aberfan before, maybe they could have called attention to these worries. On the other hand if first hand, factual observations of the danger where ignored, what hopes would dreams have.

What is the word for knowing something has happened after the fact but before you've seen or heard any news of it ? A postmoniition ?

Pretty wild you did a story on this subject without even mentioning the Global Consciousness Project. Also, it's not a moral failing to simply say you believe something is happening you don't fully understand.
