I love how Tomoya is the one who needed support from Nagisa, when in some pairings, it usually is the girl needing comfort. Plus probably the fact that it was the first time someone was able to be with Tomoya during his moments since he was always alone in moments like these. They're such a perfect match for each other :*)
In Biology, we learn an important piece of DNA called Okazaki Fragment. It basically helps the lagging strand to replicate. In this story, Okazaki Tomoya has helped people around him to be happy. He helped Nagisa to be stronger, he helped Kotomi to recover, he helped fuko to fulfill her dream, he helped Yukine to realize his brother's dream, he helped his father to be happy, he helped Shita by telling his message to Misae, he helped Youhei to reconcile with his sister,...
Thanks for unlocking a part of my memory. I remember too now the surprise I felt the first time I learned this in my 9th grade biology at hearing Okazaki
I really like this kind of proposal. She knows so badly that she wants to be with Tomoya that she doesn't hesitate , she just says "Okay." because she knows she wants to be with him. Why get excited or all "surprised" about someone/something you know so badly you want to be with?
Notice during their small struggle, Tomoya doesnt fling Nagisa off once. Even in his distress, Tomoya never attemtps to hurt her, he doesnt push her away or anything... he just doesnt know what to do...
he helped Toyomo to be a student council president, he helped kyou and ryou to be good sisters, he helped Ushio to have a good father, finally he helped himself to be what he is supposed to be. Thinking of it, all these characters are like lagging strand that doesn't have the ability to replicate on their own. That is when the Okazaki fragment helps to initiate the move. Okazaki Tomoya... A Character that has helped me, a lagging person, to learn a lot of life lesson.
0:53 I'm going to walk by casually and have no reaction to the two people who are on the floor hugging each other. There is absolutely nothing strange about that...
I love how towards the end everything falls apart. But just at the end it brings everything back and theres happy ending. It's almost as if everything sad that happened was a dream but it felt real.
i have watched many animes after i watched clannad, but i still can't find an anime that tops this one. This story is so amazing, sad, lovely, sweet.....i could go on, i love it!!!!!!!!!!!
Small things like preparing your dinner, running your bath, protecting you from harm... A loving, obedient wife is the most treasured thing in the world to a miserable guy. I'm fortunate that I found mine, and I wish this for everybody. Clannad really captures those moments.
Romance wise, this is one of the better scenes out of both series. I wish they had more moments like this (not proposals, that would be ridiculous) in the first season. It just felt they didn't really do much with the build-up before they're relationship, and left all the touching parts until afterwards.
@bananadecosplit no..i think ushio came when tomoya asked nagisa of what she wants and he'll buy it for her then nagisa says that what she wants is having a baby..i forgot what episode it is but maybe that's the time that ushio created..
Also, looking back at my Clannad collection, the bonus episodes with Tomoyo and Kyou themselves are literally titled "Another Word, Tomoyo Chapter" or "Another World, Kyou Chapter"
@subiechan1995 Yeah, they hint it a lot in the anime but the visual novel is so much easier to understand at some points. One of the few hints to this conclusion in the series is that Kotomi and her parents mention an alternate reality, tomoya gets "flashes" of the girl in the empty world, the BIGGEST hint is when Akio says that he feels like the grove was Nagisa's double, the next biggest is Tomoya had an idea that Nagisa would be better if he interrupted the construction of the hospital.
This reminds me of myself when I punched my fist against a wall and it bled because I was filled with anger just like Tomoya did. But in my case it didn't end with a romantic proposal. What a pity. People around me just said I should stop trying to look cool, they weren't trying to cheer me up or something similar.
there was afew thigns that bugged me about the anime compared to the VN, but this scene was a great addition - that fierce, strong look on her face while holding him back from harm.
I had the exact same concern as you, but I gave the anime a shot. Wanna know what I think? People misunderstood something about the story. While the ending IS a bit of a cop-out, it's very satisfying. If the anime ended on the note it almost did, most peoples' hearts just wouldn't have been able to handle the depression and stress. The ending is foreshadowed multiple times throughout the entire series and it DOES make sense. My only small complaint is that it's, like I said, a bit of a cop-out.
actualy im just like her :) im caring, heart felt, dont like seeing people be hurt, im sensitive, my dad told me i was born with a combination of a soft and warm heart. Ive never dated anybody but people tell me im beautiful and im very soft and sweet. i dress just like her too my dad loves my personality and hopes it will never change and i have redish brown hair like her. I hope that everybody can find a girl lke me and nagisa but i am waiting fr someboy and i think he s waiting for me
He did remember a little. There are various scenes, especially when Nagisa was talking about the play, where he would mention something along the lines of "haven't I seen this before?" or "I remember something like this." That was why the play that they did seemed extremely familiar to him even though he doesn't recall any of it. Also, if you think about it, why would he remember any of it in the first place if his life was started over each time? He doesn't possess a Reading Steiner. xD
I knew Tomoya was wrong for neglecting Ushio for 5 years but I just couldn’t bring myself to hate him after all we went through with him. Seeing Ushio resemble her mom so much stung so bad
a bit weird way to propose.. but touched me too... When I think how Tomoya was f*cked by fate (Nagisa and after - Ushio death), I am crying. In his situation I probally try to escape in alcohol or hazard like his dad, or even.. finish it all by suicide... Great anime. I am glad in anime is the happy end.. p.s. sorry for swear..
Well you'll have to watch it. Clannad is not something someone can tell you about, (not even Salvador4ever966, tho he was pretty accurate) you have to watch it all to get the entire idea. Have fun. :)
i really hoping that every couple in our world like these two no matter what the hardship they had they will no stop love each other because of these hardship
@YukineSenritsu He wasn't having a dream...sort of. He lived through different realities to collect the orbs of light to grant his wish and save Nagisa and Ushio. Each reality, he does something different to collect the orbs of light (this is noticed through the game as you go through each arc). Thus, the bonus episodes where he ends up dating tomoyo or he ends up dating Kyou, those are other alternative realities that he went through.
@Intuitx500 she did die after giving birth to ushio but just like in game, after tomoya and ushio dies it's as if the game restarted and he woke up right beside nagisa and learned he was just having a dream.
gah, i wish you included the scene before as well, when tomoya was so angry.. this anime is so real.. I mean someone as perfect and angelic as Nagisa... marrying a wreched guy like Tomoya.. and Tomoyas life changes for the better.. its all reality.
believe me when i say, i have been in your situation and have taken the path of not confessing, not because i didn't want to but because i just couldn't. Believe me when i say, you don't want to follow this path, there is so much regret. not so much regret that I am not with her, but rather, because i didn't know where i stand. If she loves you back, great. if she doesn't love you back, that means you at least know and can start moving on. better now, then later or worse yet, never.
I just noticed that Nagisa was calling Tomoya by his given name. Completely forgot when this happened as she usually called him Okazaki. Also, I just noticed her personality feels so similar to Honda Tohru from fruit baskets.
II would like to say this. Please watch the Movie. Sure it is a re-edition of the anime's story. Several characters are very very minor or have no role and just cameo. But it was beautiful. I personally enjoyed the Movie too. The anime was good and my favorite. But watch the movie as well. It really describes (in reality form) Tomoya's depression. I know its a bit spoiling. But if you have watched this anime you should know already. Tomoya just sits there with no emotion but sadness.
I got my copy awhile ago. I do know that there are still some file sharing sites out there that people have uploaded their copy of clannad's visual novel. (it's pretty big, about 2gb) but if you search around for a torrent you can probably find one.
