In this video I talk about 4 great things and 4 negative things about living in Chicago. I absolutely love living here. There are endless things to do and a lot of great people here!
What about the crime?? I want to move there but it seems like its gangsta land. Im in L.A. and I can't wait to move away from here but idk where to go.
@@GSM92 you have a higher chance of being killed in a car accident than a victim of a violent crime in Chicago if you take the per capita numbers. Violent crimes happen, but the chances of it being you are no higher than any other major city. What you should be worried about is the winters you’ll experience here compared to California lol. Chicago is one of coldest! It got to -20 one time in January 2019
@@LivingInChicago the highways and the way people drive scary man I was all over Chicago last year. I was stuck at a shelter in downtown Canal street. Of course what goes on in the streets is bad. Police don't care about homeless people I learned that
A con is constantly having to explain to my mother who lives out of state that NO, that shooting she saw on the news was NOT me and was NOT by my building and YES I am still alive🙄
I love Chicago! Hyde Park resident here. Such a beautiful city. I just wish we didn't have crappy winters 🥶 Even with the high taxes, we are way cheaper than NYC and LA.
@@Mr102185 Not like this level of poverty this is the most dangerous city in America with most currupt police department, per FBI studies. Im from fuller park the poorest community per capita in the United States, I also spent time in bronzeville in the Ida B Wells housing project. In actuality, it was worse in the 90s than now, its just now the kids are the savages with underdeveloped emotions and minds
I went to chicago a couple of weeks ago for my second time and lemme tell you i am so in love w that city. It’s GORGEOUS. I’m 13 and I really wanna move there when i grow up when I finish college and stuff
Yes, Chicago is a thriving, vibrant place. Parks, museums, places to go and see, or eat. All top notch. You mentioned that winter is COLD, but you skipped over how hot it can get. I also noticed that all you realtors neglect to mention how violent it can be. I've been here 65 years and never seen it like now. And I used to hear gunfire nightly. You mentioned that taxes are high but not that prices are also high.
Thank you, I’m glad the videos help. If you ever have any questions about the city my videos haven’t addressed yet just let me know. Email, IG. Whatever is easier for you. I’m here to help.
@@Chierushi I actually moved in June 2021! it’s nice here but definitely different! I’m in river north, it’s so pretty love the architecture. I love change so it’s been interesting getting used a different lifestyle: public transit, more waking, the weather. I’ve never experienced seasons before and the whole city drastically changes. The fall time was my absolute favorite, so magical✨ I came back in January after 2 weeks in Texas, pretty cold and gloomy, we’ll see how it goes!
I’m 20 years old and I’m currently in college. I was born and raised in SoCal but there are several reasons why I’d like to move to Chicago when I graduate. My mom grew up in Chicago her whole life and she’s very proud of where she’s from. I also have cousins and an uncle living there and they’re thriving. The cost of living in Chicago is way lower compared to other major cities in the US. I also would like to be around more diversity and with people who are hospitable and have family values. Growing up in San Diego, I didn’t relate to anyone I grew up with because there was so much arrogance surrounding me day after day. Unfortunately, the stereotypes about narcissism and grandiosity ring true in SoCal, as a SoCal native. That’s why I’m over California and I want to move to Chicago, Illinois. I’ll definitely be subscribing to your channel to learn more about Chicago so I can be prepared! Thank you for this!
Moved from ATL to Chi in 2012. Returned to Atlanta in 2017. As much as I complained about the coldness I almost can't believe I'm considering moving back again 🤪
@Zanda Williams not being from chicago and not knowing the areas I understand your concern. because of my profession I am not allowed to dive into specific neighborhoods and violence. It isnt the same as a personal opinion but area vibes and neighborhood scout are great resources to use.
@Zanda Williams yeah but not as much in the winter its more active and fun in the summer but it's safer in the winter since the goons are hibernating and making babies and stuff
Coming from Houston but I’m a Midwest gal I HATE THE WINTERS AND TAXES... Traffic is not worse than Houston 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ I’m trading my super hot spring/summers for extreme winters 😬😬 Keep doing a great job!
I've been living in Chicago for 6 years now. As as young black woman, I will say I've had WAY more fun as far as nightlife goes in other cities (ATL, Miami, LA, Houston, etc.) and also just felt the vibe with people in southern cities have been better. I personally think it is very clicky, as far as meeting new people. Chicago is also very segregated. Big city with lots to do but it's better if you had or have family/friends already here or you are coming for school. I could not imagine moving here solo as an adult 25 or older.
That's interesting. I love Chicago, but tell me how do you handle those winters? And you say you had more fun in ATL, Miami, LA, Houston...I'm not a party person, but that's very interesting. I guess it's true, to each his own.
ayo can you tell me more about it? I'm 17 (I'm not american) and I want to live in Chicago in like 10 years from now, so isn't really a good place to go if you don't have friends or family there?
I see a lot of comments on vids like this saying shit like "moving in May, trying to learn as much as I can", do people just decide to move before doing research.
Austin. sometimes people know enough to move. but there is always more to learn. I've been in Chicago my entire life and there is still so much for me to learn.
I love the underground tunnels that connect to some if the high rise apts downtown I don't think any other city has that it's great for the brutal winters
Winter comparing to Minnesota? We have loads of snow from October-April and sometimes even into May. Summers get above 100 degrees and Winters get below -50 degrees. Its insane
Chicago gets boring after a while of living here. Coming from a native. Half of the year is no sun and always cold then if it’s not cold it’s cloudy and rainy. To be honest the only best months are from May - September
Welcome to the Chicago Area. I grew up out that way. there is enough to do out there so that you wont be terribly bored. but not so much fun it will take your focus away from saving. so win win
I have had several people reach out that are moving from indy to chicago. There are always going to be people leaving chicago for cities that are less expensive. northwest indiana is an area that gets a lot of chicago people too. they want to live a bit cheaper but dont want to be too far from the city.
Claire. thanks for watching. there are a lot of options in the suburbs. First we need to decide what area is most convenient for you. southwest, south, west, northwest, etc. let me know and I can give you some options. Feel free to text or email me.
He was only supposed to mention four things that he liked and hated about Chicago and he went beyond four when he talked about the things he hated about Chicago.
I’m not going to let it deter me but I am planning on moving to Chicago early next year. And I’ve heard mixed things about crime there and I will be living alone just wondering if anyone has an opinion on this my mentality is if I just don’t get involved in anything I won’t really have to worry
@Anabel Hadad i agree w/ you. I’m thinking about moving to chicago myself and i’m not sure about living alone either. What neighborhood are you thinking of?
That is a great question Anabel. There is a lot of research you can do on crime online. Living in a big city like chicago it's important to have an understanding of your surroundings. Same for ALL big cities. If you would like to discuss things more please email or text me. My contact info is in the video description.
Most of the crime happens on the Southside and Westside. 90% of the time it has to do with people that’s in gangs. As long as u not involve, nobody will bother you...but it’s still good to watch your back.
Greetings sir. I have a lot of questions. I’m from California. Particularly about fixer uppers and neighborhoods. I want to buy and invest in a duplex. I’m looking for a realtor. Also what do you know about Detroit, MI.
I Married Sara-Jayne the Everton USA Chairwoman 2009 In Chicago Illinois USA In 2009...She has Buggered off to Sunderland or Durham and I am furious...Not-Fucking-Really...She was an absolute Fucking Nightmare...
