A big con to webclients its still stored server side... dunno if u trust that or not depends on the organisation you are in. A big plus is dat most things can be tweaked there on a error level. Stuck e-mails, setting up forwarding etc, any major rule i use directly in the webmail client so it does not need to speak to my e-mail client and pull in a mail thats gone already. I subscribed to your channel cause i like how u pointed out some things in a calm natural sounding voice. This was plessant to my ears and i even leared something.
Thank you for the compliment. Most email clients today use the IMAP protocols, so the email resided on the server after downloading to the client program. Its so you almost never lose an email, but if you have a very small mailbox file size, you can fill it up quickly and that causes problems also. Spectrum is horrible for that. They only provide you 5GB of space, and when the box is full, emails bounce, and things break. Its a real pain.
@@ComputerGarageLLC all clients can be set to use POP3 which delete servers emails after set amount of time. I’m using Microsoft outlook for my entire life and this is the best solution for me. Even email clients like my native iOS mail app is configured to use POP3 settings.
I guess you could say that I am an older user, and yeah, I use an email client. My personal reason for favouring a client is not related to having my email locally--I do prefer keeping email in the cloud. Instead, my reason is convenience when accessing the cloud: I don't want to go to the browser and log in everey time I check email. Besides, I never see the info I am looking for when I check email through the browser--Outlook Web App and Gmail are the worst offenders. And there is the look and feel, as well as the customizability through addons that only email clients can offer. In short, I use an email client to do email in the cloud.
Let me stop you right there 2:27. I use an email client. Kmail in Kontact to be exact. All my emails are still in the cloud. I can still get them in K9 on my phone. If I delete one, it's still sitting on the server till the next sync. So, you're wrong about that being a pro of webmail.
depends on how you email client is configured. if you are using POP3 protocols, the email is deleted from the server once download. If you are using IMAP protocols, they remain in the server until you delete is on your client. the majority of people who sit up their own email clients use the default POP3 setting cause they dont know.
@@hellomiakoda3782 sadly I have many client still using POP3 because their ISP only provide POP3 service. I'm attempted to convert as many that are willing to something like Gmail that has IMAP, but sometimes that is like pulling teeth.
