Did the army corps provide a rationale for no longer issuing permits? This would seem like a way to get the price down but maybe thats the reason why there arent any more permits 🤔
The Corps is trying to prevent over crowding and keep the lake a safe and fun place. Lanier is already very populated with docks and marinas. There was a planned specific number of 10,615 permits and that has been met. Permits are good for 5 years so if someone does not renew, that permit may come available. The issue is that there are far more requests for permits than there are permits coming available.
