So after moving to the desert of southern AZ, one of your cons is that you don’t like desert landscaping? If you can’t appreciate the beauty of the Sonoran Desert that’s fine, but don’t try to change it into a lush and verdant landscape. The constant threat of drought is the biggest reason for not having a green lawn and other beautiful but thirsty plants. Xeriscape is the only option. It’s the desert- love it or go back to where you were previously.
There is jet noise in Peoria, but I have heard very few complaints about it. It isn't loud enough to end a conversation usually, and they only have certain hours they can fly, so it won't be waking you up. Many residents like the sounds of jets above calling it the "sound of freedom". That easily could be a con though
