A 14-year-old conspired with an out-of-state adult to conduct a "mass casualty event" at Mariemont High School, Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers said.
What an amazing young man, telling his Dad what was going on. He had been raised well, and will be someone that will go on to grow into a great man. His Dad has reason to be very proud.
No this was the bare minimum. This should be expected of every human being. We should live in a world where this kind of event doesn't happen. We have enemies of the United States operating within our borders celebrating the failures of mass murder and operating as if the mass murders that happen daily are just business as usual and are the acceptable norm. Evil has won out here and it wears a MAGA hat.
Well, this isn't an uncommon thing. Lots of these shootings have people come forward, the schools and the law simply fail to act in most cases. It's very unfortunate.
Though I’m so thankful for him reporting this, I am very concerned for the safety of the teen that reported this. There’s still someone out there who could harm him. I’m a little surprised they named him since he is still considered a child.
The problem with the attitude that you have, it will stop anyone from reporting a crime. It’s like saying you might as well just hide in your home because you might make eye contact with someone out in the world and then go home and be afraid they’re going to come get you. Who wants to live that way I know I don’t.
At our school, we had huge posters hung in the stairwells saying: IF YOU KNOW OF A POTENTIAL DANGER, TELL SOMEONE.” This paid off in so many ways. So often the shooter will tell someone or show the gun to a classmate. We had a policy that if a student had to report something, he could write the teacher a note or whisper to her, “I have a red flag.” This meant for the teacher to find an immediate way to get the student to the hallway, the guidance counselor, the main office, the coaching staff, the custodians, the nurse, or any other adult in the building. The entire staff was trained to know what to do with a red flag situation. All of these procedures came after Columbine and our community was determined we would not suffer that kind of tragedy. We recovered knives, guns, and other weapons thanks to our RED FLAG protocol. I hope this helps some school out there to adopt similar protocols to stop this kind of thing from happening. Above all else, we protected the red flag informer!
can't stop bad guys from getting guns- that's a fantasy...they'd just get richer outlawing guns? we should have stricter gun laws- license AND INSURANCE just like the other weapon of death - our vehicles - NRA IS doing that crap of blocking laws being made for our protection. GREED KILLS DEAD NOT GUNS@@captainblacktooth371
I think we definitely need to get people to rethink how important informing is and not to be hated on for telling. Think about all of the things that can happen to kids or their moms at home that need to be brought to the surface I think it gives them a better Outlet to feel comfortable bringing attention to things that are going wrong to not stay silent and have the courage to come forward knowing that you'll be protected and appreciated
@captainblacktooth371 Excellent comment. Americans don't get it that there are countries around the world that function very well without firearms. Remove all gun ownership and all firearms except for the police and the military. How many children have to die before the American people say no to firearms. I get ridiculed all the time for my comments on gun control, but I keep on saying the same thing over and over again for all those children and adults that are senselessly killed from being shot.
I hope Boom has special protection. Who knows how many were involved in the plan outside of the texts discovered. May God bless and protect Boom as this story is still under investigation. Thank God he had the type of relationship with his father that he could bring any topic to him and know he would be listened to and taken seriously. Thank God the plot was foiled and no lives were lost.
@user-st6nt4ou6f People like you are holding this world back millennia. The governments and scientists at work know that if they came out with everything they've learned about Earth and the universe, that every religious nutcase like you would have a crisis and burn the world down right along with your mental state.
25 years ago if someone turned someone else in for this: "They were just playing. You're over-reacting..." 15 years ago if someone turned someone else in for this: "It was just copycat BS to scare people. You're over-reacting..." Now: You just saved lives. ... Scary progression there...
@@Kamawan0 I never said they didn't get turned in or investigated... I said that when that happened, the commentary was more in the line of "They were just playing... Kids being kids.." ;-) Also... Lots of people were in school 25 years ago. Are you saying that because you are the spokesperson for all of them? ;-)
@@TheLisclark The assault weapons ban didn't actually do anything at all for firearms, except not allow random cosmetic features that ignorant people like yourself think look scary, and somehow make the gun work better. Pistols couldn't have a magazine that attaches outside of the pistol grip, because it looks scary. Also, the handgun couldn't have a barrel shroud, again, because it looks scary, even though it prevents the operator from accidentally burning themselves on the weapon after discharging it.
If you know what you're doing, it's not _that_ hard to communicate with someone anonymously. For example Signal and Telegram store very little information about accounts, and literally cannot provide details to authorities even if they wanted to. Check out the responses that Signal has sent when they were given subpoenas for subscriber info, they've published some of them and they are two lines long, saying only when the account was created and last online and absolutely nothing else. There's a reason this app is used by security researchers.
My kid had to wait over a year for a referral to a therapist after making self harm statements at 6 yrs old. She has a genetic mental health condition. We do dialecticalbehavioraltherapy at home and she goes to behavioral therapy 2x a month. It's very hard to get help, even for children who really need it so we didn't wait to implement some type of in home action for her.
@@YernBelfus400 it's legit about so many more things than dads. You saying fatherless discredits the millions of single moms and dads in this country. Parents are only part of the equation. It's not always about how they get to the point of no return. It's a bout the entire the community noticing someone is on that path and doing something before the train leave the station
So now that they publicly identified the reporting kid it worries me for his safety especially since the older person hasn’t been arrested or picked up by police
Wouldn’t it have been more than 8 students and one teacher? One of texts said you’ll need to take care of the front office first. Front office usually has at least 3-4 staff. They may not have been “on the list” but were definitely going to be targets
Boom's dad seems like a really stand up guy, and that's why his son is such a great kid. Don't underestimate the power of having these good bonds with your kids. It's this that stops these things from happening.
An adult that conspired with a kid in the Crumbley case? Did you watch the trial? Seriously people - if this mother knew her son was going to kill children at the school she would have done something. She is not the monster. She gave birth to him, but she is not responsible for his actions. People are saying all sorts of nonsense that have nothing to do with the case. She had inadequate counsel. This case is setting a dangerous precedence. Any family that has guns will be a target. Personally I don't believe in guns, but I respect your right to have them. The situation is sad, but let's put the blame where it belongs on the perpetrator. I am proud of her son, who at sentencing took full responsibility and said his parents knew nothing.
You believe a convicted killer who said his parents knew nothing? The jury SAW and the jury SPOKE because they had the evidence. Both parents were inept and selfish losers who didn't get the boy help when he needed it. I hope the POS mother gets the maximum 60 years behind bars as she deserves it. Can't wait to see the outcome of the father's trial and hope he's found guilty and sentenced to the max also. Neither one of them EVER need to be able to parent again and I use the word parent loosely in their situation. You go on and have a nice day with your rose colored glasses!@@MaggieMiller1
@@MaggieMiller1 Jennifer and James are both monsters. They knew and thought it was going to be a suicide plan. They didn't get him the medical help he requested nor did they catch onto his killing fantasies since middle school. They bought a gun under false pretenses to let their son use illegally while knowing he had mental health struggles. They didn't even get him health insurance. They fled and popped pills. They are monsters that failed their child in tremendous ways. Not only that but they failed their community. They didnt take his drawing seriously enough and treated it like a nuisance and not a cry for help. They probably had poor parenting growing up too.

I dont think I’d be plastering this precious little hero’s picture on national media and tv! He’s a minor and needs to be protected from would be shooters friends or associates! Makes me sick what media will do for a story! Sheesh!
I haven’t had many experiences with good dads in my life. My dad loved me but wasn’t around much, and everyone I grew up with had similar stories. Their fathers abandoned them. As I have grown up I’ve seen the guys I went to school with turn into the same. Some shining stars stick out but it’s otherwise sad to see This man is an amazing father. I can tell by the way he talks about him and the way his son talks about their interactions. It’s so good to see and shows how important a loving home is for a child to grow up into a stable functional adult. I’m so glad this was stopped and that kid and his father are truly good human beings.
I can almost guarantee you that they’ll disclose who he is after they’ve had an arraignment hearing or just before trial. It’s all going to be public record at that point.
wait a moment... you're telling me you believe preventing people from obtaining the necessities of life is not killing people? why is starving 99% of the human species ok, but well off eurocentric peoples lives ending early is not? you rreally think 99% of our species are not fully human because they were born poor?
This mentality is one of the reasons why these shootings keep happening. All you’re saying is that you want the guy glorified, because that’s exactly how these people see it. It’s their 5 minutes of fame when their face is blasted all over the internet
@@user-st6nt4ou6f you’re an idiot! STFU do you know what the problem is in the UK ? Well they got rid of guns, so knives. They can’t even carry a pocket knife. I’ve carried a gun for over 25years and never shot one person, haven’t even pulled it out.
My dad said there was shootings every day near schools when he was young... He said that the difference was, two people fighting... Pulls out guns, get shot in the leg or foot
How many close calls and actual school shootings do we need to endure before we can all admit that this country is facing a mental health and a gun crisis? But nah, let's just keep sending those "thoughts and prayers" and the problem will fix itself.
did that lady just say theres no doubt in anyones mind that this was a joke???? girl what who cares anyone who fantasizes like this should be thrown in jail and never let out
Thank God. Bravo to this wonderful child. I disagree with the child who reported this being named though. Why were they so quick to name him. They usual hold that info in many instances.
In college I knew a kid in my dorm with a hit list. Absolute creep. He eventually got expelled but he stuck around way way too long. I think what got him was a series of ODs & too much porn on the school internet. I dont even know if the death threats were a factor. Will never forget going home one weekend and telling my family if I was shot at school it was this kid.
@justdoingitjim7095 That’s exactly what I was going to say! They always go after the shooter or soon to be shooter first (and I agree with that), and now the parents are next (and I get that because if they didn’t secure their weapons, then they need to be held accountable), but then it stops there….what about the kids that pushed that kid so far to the point that shooting them felt like the only way to make it stop (if that was indeed the case and I would be asking the kid who made the list, not the ones ON the list because they’re just going to play dumb). There’s a difference between bullying and straight up harassment! And it needs to stop!!
I was recently familiarized with confirmation bias. And how it's frowned upon. But I see this as what the potential shooters are doing. By sharing their plan, they're confirming their bias. They want to tell someone in the hopes that they get validation. That's my theory anyway. So really sometimes confirmation bias is a lifesaver
GREAT JOB BOOM!!! Proud of you bro!! Youve had a greater impact by saving so many lives than most adults ever have in their entire lives. Your dad is right that Jesus put you here for a reason!! Keep God 1st and He will continue to bless you 🙏🏼🥳🙌🏼❤️💪🏼
He planned to use a gun in his home, once again access to a firearm for a minor can end badly. It should be common sense to lock up any firearms in a house with minors, they do not need to use them unsupervised. Lock up your guns guys.
I'm so glad I'm moving out of the Tri-State area. It's a blessing to be able to get my family away from the crime, drugs, violence, and aggressive culture. I hope you all can get yourself and your families far far away from this place. It's too dangerous to risk losing a loved one over a random stranger's mental health problems.
@@rosep8481 Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana all meet at a single point kind of. We call it the "Tri-State" area cuz of the vicinity that the three states connect at right where Cincinnati is located.
Packing up our apartment as I type ...trying to get out...but the cost of living rates everywhere else we might just live in the Rodeo for a minute. I mean where else can I rent a two bedroom for less than a grand a month. Louisville is cheaper but way worse. But yeah I gotta get my son outa here ...somehow someway...from Covington ky.
@rosep8481 I just Googled "Tennessee school shooting" and pretty sure you all had one of the most notorious school shootings of the last 10 years (the covenant high school shooting).
Kudos to that student who said something. I'm also thinking that some of the students across the country are asking adults why we have to have a society that is completely overstuffed with guns.
You're absolutely right about the second thing you said. There's a reason the youth votes overwhelmingly Democratic and that is because Republicans refuse to address gun violence among other issues we face as a society.
Apparently the Colorado Springs police department know who the adult is, have made contact with him.... but for some unknown reason are refusing to make an arrest and are not calling him a co-conspirator. They are to blame if something happens.
These situations are the result of gentle parenting. You've got an entire generation of kids who have never been told no and have been coddled and told their emotional outbursts are simply them expressing themselves. Then they get in the real world and can't deal with it.
But, by stopping the shooting how will republicans be able to give out their minimal "thoughts and prayers"? (I am glad that the shooting was stopped before any blood shed)
The authorities should contact each person on the hit list individually and try to figure out why they were put on it to begin with. Maybe some of those people might want to change the way they interact with others. I'm speaking about the ones who were possibly bullying this kid. That's fairly common in these types of situations!
nah. remember, in eurocentric culture, well off people are always in the right. they could fund giant child trafficking rings and still be seen as saints
They are referring to the plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer by a group of individuals enticed to near completion by, i believe it was, an undercover FBI agent. They are saying maybe the adult texting was a person working for the government and trying to talk thi kid into commiting a crime so they can arrest the kid. But idk 🤷🏻♂️
That’s actually stupid. How does it make sense that an agent would talk a kid up to have a school shooting and not do anything about before the other reported it?
