Prospecting for gold on a dry seasonal creek in the Southern Motherlode of California

Rubber Ducky Prospecting #5 with another edition of Andy and Barbara on the Creek. In this adventure we are back in the Southern Motherlode region near Groveland, CA on Garrotte Creek and the creek bed was bone dry. We break some exposed faulted bedrock and use the Mini Monster in a recirculating system to process the material. We left just in time to miss getting rained on... I am guessing there was water in the creek a couple hours after we left... Wait until you see the impressive sky and lightning!

I just discovered your channel! The gold mining and prospecting community will get your subscriber count up! Just keep at it and keep up the good work. It looks like you might find some good gold in the heavy boulders and crevices. Good gold hunting to you both! Be safe. Take care.

You have a great wife I can't get mine over the cliff lol. She would go I just won't let her 200 feet is a long way it's where the climbers go on ropes . Yes for flower GOLD. What a hobby. Blessings

I ain't saying she's a gold digger... lol. Barbara is a great partner in life and the 2:20 outdoors. She is not afraid of getting wet and dirty and will go anywhere I go. We are both Search and Rescue as well and she has no problem on a rope off a 200 foot face.

Yeah, that is the challenging part with gold prospecting. I occasionally explore the idea of moving but finding a place that we can have as much fun digging in the dirt is challenging . :-)

The rubber duck is cool but I think it hinders your flow which will effect the capture rate. Good video.

@@RubberDuckyProspectingyou should not run dry material in a Sluice or Highbanker if possible. Recover the water from the back of the Highbanker and pour it back into the tub .

Yeah, we went small on that trip partially because of impending bad weather and partially because the mini monster is the only high banker we have to recirculate with. We also did not sample that area but blindly decided to just work it based on looks alone so it was a crap shoot. I guess you could say the modest volume was the sample and based on that return for that spot it was not really worth moving a large amount of material... at least for *that* particular spot on the claim.

If that's the original matt that came with the mini monster you need to swap them out, no good. They sell them now with gold hog or dream matt

If you’re in SoCal & working dry washes you should try a mini dry washer. It’s obvious you are able to move enough dirt!!!😊 If you need pointers on doing that drop me a line.

Love the feedback! We are in Northern Central Cal and spend most of our time near Yosemite as that is only a couple of hours from our home. This was a seasonal creek near Groveland that was dry in the middle of the summer that we wanted to play in. The creek was heavily mined by a group of Mexican miners back in the 1800s. Most of the time we are at spots with year around water so we have not invested in a dry washer at this point. What is a good mini drywasher you would suggest?
@PHUCKyoutube689
@PHUCKyoutube689 Месяц назад
I love dry washers. I let someone else dig the material, use their washer to put it in a nice pile, then I take the tailings and get the gold out of it using a highbanker when they are done. Seriously like 10% of people uaing drywashers know what they are doing. It really is a horrible for recovery rates unless you are an expert.

Hi there, not here to bash but I find myself needing to skip through your video in effort to escape the horrible yt quality music. Speaking for myself, prospecting and mining in the wilderness and almost all music created by man just do not mix. In between your commentary I think most people would like to simply enjoy the sounds of digging and sluicing and nature. Btw, running your 12v system instead of a gas motor is the way to go and gets two thumbs up from me. Even if most people don't stop to think about it, I believe most of us are out there for the nature experience first, and the gold second. If the struggle for gold wasn't out in our amazing wilderness, I think prospectors would be quite a miserable sort. Your videos are essentially emulating a trip out in nature for us and any music just breaks the immersion we are trying to experience as viewers. Everyone seems to think that by injecting their presentation with stunning dramatic music that it will improve the production quality and it doesn't when it's coupled with the wilderness. It makes it a bit painful. With that said, thank you for the video and I look forward to future installments.

Thank you for the feedback and for watching our videos. As the music is in a way a part of the channel; branding", I will probably not eliminate music all together, however I will try to perhaps use it a bit more sparingly. I do try very hard to keep the music levels to a very low background behind the content in most places. Again, Thank you for the feedback as I would love to improve our product for everyone.
@SilvasSmallMining
@SilvasSmallMining Месяц назад
Just my two cents, but background music is not always a good thing. I personally enjoy the sounds of the water splashing and rocks moving around during mining activities. It’s really peaceful to me. I’m sure, I’m not the only one. It is your channel and choice, and I’m sure everyone respects it, but low views and skip throughs will be more frequent in your content. I say this as respectful as possible.

@SilvasSmallMining I will take the advice given by several people now and reduce the use of the music in my videos going forward. Thanks for the feedback and thank you for helping my channel grow!
