'Protect teachers' right to teach': Fighting abuse, suicide among South Korea's educators 

The parents should be charged for assult if their child is hitting people.

Last saturday, I was a parent volunteer in a P6 catechism (religious) class. It wasnt my first time, but this was definitely one of my most horrifying experiences. These 12 year old boys were rude, noisy, mocking, disruptive, and uncooperative. The teacher prepared his lesson very well and made a lot of effort to make it engaging. But the boys were simply unrelenting as they knew the teacher could not do anything against them from his end. The teacher's son who was placed in the class ended up in tears, but the boys still persisted. I was very heartbroken to witness such a lack of empathy, respect, and courtesy... 😥

Parents of South Korea should be the one showing example to their children how to respect Teachers .

I believe this situation, although may not be as abusive, is evident in Malaysian schools - parents show no respect for teachers today and the new Gen of children pick up the 'scent' from the parents on how they talk about the teachers at home. It's all about RESPECT. We must agree that Narcissistic characteristics are seen among students where manipulative ways to play the 'blame-game' is on the rise. It has become rampant that teachers are blamed for students' poor performances despite many teachers giving more than their normal teaching hours for students today. As someone from the Education Industry, I wish to advise parents to work alongside their children's teachers for effective learning..... before it does become too late for Malaysian teachers and parents. Much can be discussed on this issue/topic/matter.

I would like to strongly advocate that MOE has a school counsellor for teachers in every school. The counsellor is a space for teachers to decompress and also bounce ideas off to figure out how to work with students who are more challenging. Also, teachers need to be able to confide in counsellors without being penalised. Also, we should have teachers teach like in the past, and be supported by administrators who do all the other paperwork etc. if not the teachers are overstretched. CCAs should also be helmed by special CCA teachers. In this way we also create more job openings for new roles, we ensure teachers have proper balance and support so more of them stay on in their teaching career. Many start with enthusiasm and burn out or feel so broken by red tape. If we help our teachers, we help our kids because teachers who are in the right emotional and mental space to educate our kids mean our kids have better support academically too. I also urge parents to encourage their kids to have respect for the teachers rather than spoiling the kids rotten.

It should be mandatory for all parents to take a behaviour management course.

Sadly this is a worldwide phenomenon and even teachers here in the US are quitting like crazy. They need to do something about it before it is too late.

SG private schools in are quite pro parents and don't manage the parents but expect the teachers to please the parents making it very difficult to do their job. matter of time this will happen in sg

Back in the day, they used to have corporal punishment in Korea. If you get out of line or didn't do your homework, you'd get a nice slap across your face and the parents were ok with this.

Educators in s'pore are well protected and so much more fortunate as compared to their counterparts in korea. Many thanks to the PAP govt.❤❤

선배 선생들의 업보를 후배 선생들이 다 받네..이런 규제가 왜 생겼겠어? 자기 기분 나쁘면 이유없이 선생이 깡패처럼 학생을 때리고 차별하고 했던 시대가 불과 몇십년전이다. 이런 어린학창시절을 보낸 아이들이 성장해서 이런 규제법안을 만든거다.

The child obviously has behavioural or development issues. Maybe he's neuroatypical. He might need a special educational environment in order to thrive and where educators are trained to handle him. I'm surprised this angle was implied so heavily but not directly acknowledged.

....not professional man i mean there no need go to united suicidal.......u can simple go take breaks in phuket, halwai or simple seek professional help......than i be honest here dumbstruck
