Thankfully, there are several things that you can do to protect your camera from humidity. @@daktarioskarvannederhosen2568 Hi! Absolutely! humidity is really bad for cameras over time. This is why we need to protect them. Generally speaking, the more expensive the camera the better the weather seals.

You are as paranoia as i am when it comes to changing lenses while being outdoors ! Great tip. Two bodies with the most required focal length, yeap thats the way to go.

Thank you for the tips, I’d like to capture a Timelapse of the sunrise, but my lense stays foggy (Houston Tx.) 🤦🏻‍♂️ Now I know I need to put the cam outside about an hour earlier. Thanks again~

Hey Dan, I have a question in regards to humidity. See I live in Florida and here in Florida it is extremely humid all the time. What should I do in my situation? I’m quite new to owning a camera. Expensive too in my opinion. Will I be only able to use 1 lens and never be able to change them outside?

Hi! Love Florida although I haven't been there for a long time. Luckily, we have similar climate here in Sydney where 95% humidity is not unusual in summer. The good news is that you can definitely change lenses. The key is to let the camera and the lenses come up to temperature. If you do this you won't have a problem. Let me know how you go. Dan

Great! Please, help with a doubt about freeze cold whether: the cameras are damaged in winter from below zero to minus 10-15 degrees (I'm in Norway). Are cameras damaged at these temperatures? In the instructions it says to use it at temperatures between 0 and 40 degrees. I have canon eos m50 mark2. They saying it because of the batteries, or because the sensor, lenses, electronics, screens, etc. get damaged? I know I have to bring backup batteries and keep them warm and also do not enter the house with the camera, before putting it in a sealed plastic bag to avoid condensation. But, just the fact of taking the camera out cold, would it harm it? Or you are safe, as long as we ensure a slow and safe temperature transit of the camera. Maybe put heating tapes on the Camera and lenses, like the ones on the telescope? Thank you

G'day Mike, this is a really good question.The coldest I've operated my camera is around -5C. This was with a 5d mk IV and didn't give me any trouble. There are a number of things to look out for which you've already mentioned but let's go over it again. Battery is going to be the most important one. When they get cold, batteries just stop working. The second thing is condensation. I don't use a plastic bag. I just leave the camera in the camera bag for at least 1 hour after coning in from the cold before accessing it. Changing lenses in the cold is a no-no. As far as electronics go, a lot of them fail when they are exposed to freezing temperatures. This is not limited to cameras. The good thing is that in most cases, bringing it back to room temperature fixes it and the camera starts working again. Something I do in cold weather is to have my camera hanging around my neck under my jacked to protect it from the elements. As long as you are not walking too fast and sweating this should be ok but check for condensation build up every once in a while. Every time I've done this, I've never had any issues. A friend of mine did this whilst photographing in Antartica and he was fine also. I've never hear of using heating tape but anything that provides insulation should help. Also, materials like plastic and glass get more brittle so be extra careful with them. Lastly, the M50 is not weather sealed (as far as I know) so watch out for melting ice getting in between the seals. Anyway, hope this helps.

Hi great video. I’m heading to Sydney for a few weeks over Xmas. Is humidity much of a problem in Sydney compared to more tropical climates or do I still need to be super careful? Cheers .

Hi sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Humidity can definitely be an issue in Sydney. Specially this year. You can expect it to be around 70%-80% most of the time. But to be honest, the last few years it's been a bit all over the place. Still, nothing to worry about as long as you take precautions. Just make sure to aclimatize the camera before using it and you'll be fine. Hope you enjoy Sydney. Let me know how it goes.

@@DanCantero thanks for your message, I’ve put a weather sealed lens on my weather sealed body ( Fuji xt3) might stick with that but have few shots I want to take that will require more than a 35mm if I get stuck I might walk into a well air conditioned store to change lenses thanks for your message , I appreciate it it !
