Very nice Rob! That shield really covers everything up well. With the way it looks, a thief will definitely more than likely just go onto the next vehicle when they see that. I see what you're talking about that even without the shield, the placement of the cats are kinda tough to access. However, I think with no shield, the thief will more than likely start cutting anyway and try to get them out. Nice job with the install! 👍

Good video, I left the passenger side wing off so that I could move the plate around to line up the long screws then attached the wing and the crossbar. I've got the pro skidplate and it didn't interfere with the cat shield.

That is a good way also! Good to hear further confirmation it won’t mess with the pro skidplate too

Thanks for this latest Millercat Tacoma shield. The other video from last year got me confused with its 4 front fasteners. The one you ordered has 3 front fasteners. Mine will also have 3 front fasteners. I ordered mine from Amazon and is shipped from Millercat via FedEx ground , it is suppose to arrive today after going all over California. Almost a week, and I am in Socal
@RobsAutos
@RobsAutos 2 года назад
Nice! Sucks it’s taking so long, it took maybe 3 days to get to north California for me. But I have had shopping woes like that before! I did notice the 3 fasteners as well compared to the older videos. Wonder what instituted this change.

It arrived at 2pm today, got my Tacoma up my Autozone $60 ramp, and total time to assemble and install was only 30 minutes ! Did a Test Drive, no rattles (Unfortunately our roads in Menifee are too smooth) , best I could do was go fast on dips. MillerCAT did improve the CAT shield, kind of expensive but made in USA. Tonight I am ordering on Amazon a MillerCAT shield for my daughters 2021 Prius Prime!

Regular oil changes you are fine without removing it. Notice that it basically stops where the OEM skid plate starts aka where the oil change action commences. Transmission oil changes though would definitely require removing it.

Will this shield with recessed screws that you are installing in the video work on a 2018 Toyota Tacoma that is a 2 wheel drive model? Also, is it steel?
@RobsAutos
@RobsAutos 10 месяцев назад
They do have a 2WD model, and also have 2 steel options.
@michelesimmons8837
@michelesimmons8837 10 месяцев назад
The 2WD shield that they offer in steel does not have recessed screws. We want one that has the recessed screws and noticed that the one you installed had the recessed screws but it appeared that yours was a 4WD. Which is why we wanted to know if your 4WD shield would fit our 2WD Tacoma.

I am concerned that it will act as a heatshield and will increase heat around the converter or worse...cause a fire. I saw someone post about how insurance would not cover repairs for a stolen cat if they installed a shield like this due to fire concerns
@RobsAutos
@RobsAutos 2 года назад
I don’t think it would honestly. The shield has a decent amount of space between the shield and the cat. And I doubt the 1/8 aluminum would act as enough of a heat container for the cat, and then the vents are also there to help.

@troy3456789
@troy3456789 2 года назад
@@johnbielenda7336 You can drive it home, but it would be a horrible idea to drive it. The catalytic converters are an integral part of the exhaust pipe that holds heat in after you stop the engine. Without the catalytic converters, cold air can go straight up the pipe to the head and warp your valves (especially in winter time).

Does insurance covered 🤔 the catalyst converter on 2022?
@troy3456789
@troy3456789 2 года назад
@@spacecoastz4026 I'd rather not. For one thing, if the catalytic converters are stolen; it is a showstopper. The pickup is undrivable in winter where I live, because cold air will go straight up to the head and warp the valves without a pipe in place that can hold the heat in and cool down slowly. The more that people make claims on their insurance, the more the insurance rises for everyone that has it. Insurance companies are in the business of *making money;* not in the business of providing assurance (contrary to popular belief).
@spacecoastz4026
@spacecoastz4026 2 года назад
@@troy3456789 Insurance companies should pressure auto manufactures to help protect that exhaust system.
