A short compilation of moments of the Spice Girls being protective and sticking up for eachother. Sometimes in words, sometimes in actions and sometimes their faces speak volumes.
"no, outdated culture" Geri ate that. I can't believe that almost 30 yeas later in Netherland they still do Cinder Claus when it's clearly a form os minstrel / black face
I have never seen this footage, but I can’t believe Melanie B already criticized Black Piet back in the days. She saw already that it is not the way to celebrate “culture” and said something about it. You go gurl!!
@@Khenfu_Cakeand they now really did update our sinterklaas culture. We are not allowed to have black painted faces anymore at sinterklaas. They are not called black piet anymore they just called piet now. In all sinterklaas songs the word black in front of piet is removed. And it is forbidden to call them black piet everywhere. Kids in elementry school are thought they are just called piet. If parents still say black piet the kids will look shocked and say mom dad you can't call them that, they are just called piet. And there faces are not painted anymore. So they really did update our culture. Mel B en Geri were right. Ps the guy with to microphone paul de leeuw doesn't meant anything racist. In fact he already had 2 adopted black son's at the time. It really was hunderd years of tradition and culture at the time. But now the culture is updated. No more black piet, just piet without the painted faces.
Loved Melanie C's reaction to the host getting a bit creepy and handsy with Emma at the 3:41 mark, like she was considering for a moment wether to push him away or not 😄
From what I've noticed with some of these old interviews is that some of the hosts are thinking they could get away with their handsies. On camera nonetheless!
Some of these 90s interviewers were disgusting af with their racism and misoginy. I feel awful but at the same time admire the Spice Girls for what they had to go through. Their music helped a gay kid like me growing up in south america to get through the homophobia I experienced and made me feel better about being myself
i don't remember when the interview was or who was giving it but i remember melanie c was discussing her past with eating disorders and the interviewer tried to bring up victoria and melanie immediately cut him off and said "i'm not discussing her like that". i think there was another clip in a documentary with victoria where she found a picture of melanie in a tabloid where they were discussing her weight and she discussed how angry she was about it.
I love the last bit right there. Anyhow, there's also a more recent gem of a moment at Wossy's "scoop" of an episode pre-2019 tour and all girls came into V's defence when he asked, quite cheekily, who would take Posh's place in the tour. You remember that moment, I'm sure, and Emma and the girls say "I will..We all will." I thought it was a lasting testament and quite a culmination to their being protective of each other even more so now than ever. Great job as usual, thank you.
Aww, the Girls looking after each other like sisters. 😍 Creepy men got punched by girl power in the face. Lol. Wish I got friends like our Queens.❤ P.S. Victoria's so Aries here. Didn't know she's a protective friend. Sass gurl!
Vickie wanted to do the same thing to Eddie Murphy that she did to that dude from Spice World for sure. She was ready to drag him for trying to play Mel crazy. 😩😩😩😩
Mel b: UPDATE YOUR CULTURE. SHES SO REAL a black queen defending minorities!!!!! It’s the goddamn 90s and that shit was going on…. Thank god for Mel B what a legend
@@galegorgeous8857 mentality back then if you have a dark skin tone... you're ugly! believe me, I have a darker skin tone and I remember back when I was a kid my mom called me ugly because I always spend my days playing outside, and she be like "why you wanna play outside? you wanna get darker and uglier? you are already ugly, so stop playing outside and start putting that whitening lotion"
