This happened to me late 2020. It took a long time for my hair to reset and quite honestly, I don’t think my hair has been the same since. My hair doesn’t look the same, but I’m working on it. Glad you caught it early and it didn’t take long for you to begin seeing improvements.
It’s horrible!! I agree! My hair isn’t 100% yet and I do think it will take a while or will need to be cut as it grows out. I really can’t believe how many products have protein in it 🤦🏾♀️
It’s been about 5-6 months for me and I was really praying like what is going on. My iron levels were back regular and everything. Praise God I was able to pinpoint it with these videos. I went to a shop that did aloe Vera (I don’t think it was the aloe Vera but the products and excessive getting under dryer multiple times with the product. I kid you know I went to Sally’s yesterday (typically when I go there the sales people can’t help me but this clerk was an angel and suggested this reset!!!! I’ve also been doing a regime this month but I’m finally on track. 5-6 months 🥺🥺🥺 but praise God my journey will be able to help someone.
I banned all protein containing hair products and started using moisturizing that don’t contain P. That immediately brought a change in how my hair started to look and feel. Only thing that was a mistake is I went to a curly hair salon and the lady gave me a bad haircut. Now I have to let that grow out to get a better haircut next time ( for sure not at her salon). It’s hard enough to find good hair stylists for Afro curls in my area here in Germany. But that lady boasted in her skills. Came to find out she mostly does Caucasian curly hair and has little expertise of African curly hair and even refuses to do type 4 hair!!She herself being half black… Unbelievable. Anyway, ranting here 😅 for what it’s worth. Greeting to my fellow Afro curly sisters across the world. God bless you all.
Hey :). I’m also in Germany. What moisturizing products are you using? I’m also having a hard time with protein and finding a good stylist. Had to do a big chop and i am still struggling. Please recommend some good moisturizing products i can get here in Germany. ☺️
Hi! I’m really not sure what you can get in Germany. I have a video in my favorites playlist highlighting moisturizing products! If Miche Beauty and Bask and Bloom ships to Germany check them out.
First off, you look gorgeous 😍😍😍. Hair, makeup, everything! It’s crazy how many products have protein. I didn’t even think to check my edge controls until you mentioned it! Great video ❤️
I know she said this already but ECO STYLING GEL will definitely cause protein overload. I was using it around my edges and the front and back of my hair when I tied it in a high puff and anytime I washed my hair the outside perimeter would tangle BADLY.. It literally took me hours to separate my strands. Thought it was the hairstyle, but got curious amd ran across this video. Lol I'm super grateful that I found the issue. I'd like to add that I just did the "cup of water" hair porosity test and learned that my hair is low porosity. Anyone that has low porosity should def limit the amount of protein they use.
i use a deep conditioner just on my ends it was advertised as hydration but the first ingredient was protein which is don’t realize til after and my ends were transparent 😢 mind you this was after my healthy hair cut which was suppose to start my healthy hair journey smh lesson learned always check ingredients list
This happened to me but it wasn’t just hydrolyzed proteins in products it was also aloe, extracts and coconut oil any products with any of these ingredients made my hair feel exactly like if it was protein, it’s so important to start reading ingredients and learning what they are and what they can do to our hair instead of buying for packaging or even the front label
@@EishaTaylore I’m already dealing with it. My hair has been falling out at the scalp for weeks now. 😭 I did the Aztec clay mask, and braided it up for now.
I literally have the Aztec Indian clay in now, gonna wash with sulfur8 deep cleaning shampoo and assess the damage. I got olaplaex and moisturizing products with no protein so I’m ready anything😭
I had this problem to,use tgin honey miracle mask, kinky curly not today, Aztec clay mask and not your mothers green macha mask it worked wonders I promise!
I fel into this trap too since I was using alot of heat I was using aphogee for months. My hair is so dry but still porous. Im getting a steam dryer. And just going to try to steam once a month
Thanks for this video the same exact thing happened to me after a protein treatment my hair looked like i put a perm in it it’s still thin so I’m doing to try your tips
Thank you for this video . I did a Texture protein treatment by Aphogee , because I colored my hair and my hair hasn’t been the same 😢. At first it was shedding a little bit. It’s getting better , but is not the same at all, and I didn’t leave it on for a long time also . Maybe five mins . I’m going to keep washing my hair and deep conditioning it hopefully it returns back to its natural state. No more protein treatments for me
I am a teen and got protein overload. I did a protein treatment without doing much research and i’ve been in it for 3 months. My hair is brittle, shedding, and breaking. Pretty sure my hair is thinning. :( I continued using protein unknowingly but i got new products and i don’t see a lot improvement. I think maybe I need a new deep conditioner and a cream. I only use leave in which I love but i may need more moisture. Can I use As I am So Much Moisture? The second ingredient is aloe and I read it can either help or make protein overload worse. It’s a humectant so I would think it would help? Love the vid Xx
I’m sorry that happened to you. Start with clarifying your hair with shampoo or an Indian clay mask to detox. I’m not familiar with the As I Am product but make sure your using a deep conditioner that is moisturizing and doesn’t have protein.
Use a sodium laurel sulfate shampoo to get rid of the protein. This worked for me. It washes the protein out. Make sure to Deep condition after. It make take a few times. Just be careful not dry your hair out with the shampoo.
Idk what I have but I'm assuming it protein overload but idk. I just know even when applying my deep conditioner or conditioner I can feel the roughness at the ends
I wish I saw this before I did it to myself, ugh. It is finally back to normal somewhat and I owe it to the same clay you suggested and oplex. TBH at first I loved how my curls were popping and that my texture was smoother but by the time I noticed what was happening my hair was bone straight..wtf. People kept asking if I was using a relaxer and did not believe me. My hair dresser said it was hormonal and I needed to get use to my new normal.. wtf. I decided to stop using the curl line I had fallen in love with and started using clay and Olaplaex. My hair instantly began to curl back up but the texture is different from my new growth. Do you have the same issue? I am not sure how to fix it but to transition again! Any advice???
Did you use heat at all? Either way you will just have to grow it out. I also would suggest getting a good moisture treatment at the salon and a trim. I did and my hair looks much better
Check out my favorite deep conditioner video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VmKgakao3bU.html. The one I didn’t have in this video is Adwoa Beauty Blue Tansy Line and Olaplex bonding treatment. Here is the video about Olaplex: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AWqn2xl3Uis.html
