I have a question for the band: how does it feel to know that you are one of the most original, interesting, progressive, melodic, technical bands ever?, and that you are way more interesting musically than a lot of older "big brand" bands? Also, can you please start your Kickstarter stuff again, so we can help you to create more masterpieces, please?
Hey guys, it me, the drummer from the early days up-to-volition. Was just trying to find stupid videos of me with my dumb dreadlocks and ended up here. To answer your question ... we just made music that was fun to play, because we knew we'd have to play it 10000 times live. It was a happy accident anybody else wanted to listen to it too. To the fella in the thread asking about being a band from Ontario in the early 2000s .... there kind of wasn't anything else to do? it was either make music with our buds or else get into some real trouble, and we were all 'good kids'
@@m0rgtr0n Lots Of respect Moe, that you even bother commenting all these years later. Your work on the original albums were great. Hope you are doing well dude
I've just discovered this band this hour, listened to a couple of tracks and i'm impressed, but the greatest hook in all of metal? Gonna have to say a big solid nah.
The depth and detail to the composition is incredible - very romantic. Lots of major key sections and multi staff voice leading, picardy thirds, fugue fragments...these guys are monsters. Then, Rody comes afterwards and adds mind boggling vocals to what are full-fledged instrumental tunes already... musiciangasm!
Criminally underrated band, they deserved so much more success. Brings me back to early high school days haha. They should have been bigger than they were
man why aren't there any other metal bands out there as good as PTH? it's hard enough to find a metal band that utilizes CLEAN VOCALS as the primary, and even harder to find ones that even come close to the epicry of Rody's voice
Yeah even though I ppersonally thinkg volition is their best, i dont think any band has had such a consistent discography. Im guessing theres an even split for every PTH fans favourite album.
IMHO Maiden would have a ton to learn from PTH, even if PTH most likely have been greatly influenced by Maiden. I love both bands, but I think i can say that objectively, PTH is the better group.
Arif is so fucking cool, I stopped listening to these guys a while ago so its probably old news but did he actually leave the band? PTH's loss seriously.
Yeah, he left the band. Although the new bassist (Cameron) is just as talented. Of course Arifs personality is irreplaceable but they keep doing amazing stuff. You should check their new record pacific myth.
beautiful, artistic, poetic, spiritual, and to think this just came out. it sucks we have to look for good music, unlike in the 70s when good music was everywhere
I've been replaying the shit out of this part on Guitar Pro 7... the octave chords are just beautiful, definitely the one of the most wholesome chord sequences I've heard.
This album should be made into a play. also kezia should be made a play, and scurrilous and volition and everything that Protest the Hero ever makes in a full length album.......pardon my lack of punctuation knowledge, I hope you get what i mean. These dudes monsters
What are the backing vocals lyrics during the "deflesh the world...." part at the end? I really like the melody of that part especially that one note held out at 2:43.
Iv seen these guys on first ever tour an it was 4$ for door an they use to come an play for us all the time :) the good days when the scenes were not almost dead
@borntobe44 first off, not my account... and i listen to PLENTY of math core to tell you this is not math metal. half of their songs are in 15/16 and thats it for the whole song. if thats math core then my marching band show is math core. im on drumline playing 3/4 6/8 4/4 2/4 15/16 (different times in the show) and one other time signature that i have forgotten
nice, great, hard beats, fantastic, i love it soooo much, and my soul is on fire as soon as i hear this song, lol, thumbs up all the time for this band
@SoopaFries Try to look up tool, Symphony x and dream theater just as a start if you want technical good musicians xD see thats advanced and awesome stuff (;
@JapanRepresent666 Oh hell yeah, without a doubt. I love his growls, his high vocals, and everything in between. He is one of the most talented singers I've ever heard.
One of two metal bands from canada that are absolutely amazing(the other being blackguard which is a folk/death metal band). Every other amazing metal band comes from Finland, Sweden, Norway, and the such. But since more people encourage musical technique in those parts of the world, it makes sense that more would come from there. I just wish i had more chances to see amazing bands perform live. not many chances in canada.
Moe is one of the greatest drummers I've ever heard. Such a small drum set but he does so fucking much with them. That's what makes a great drummer. Not someone with the biggest drum set.
Well I learned my lessons from other Protest videos I now watch in a fire proof suit with sun glasses on to keep my face from melting off but I have sad news my dog got to close and the epicness of this music just melted his face off!!!! Now my dog is scary as hell!!!!!
How so? It's literally just silhouettes of the band against some lights, with some silhouettes of a crowd with some lights. I don't see how that is in anyway better than this.
Not sure what you mean, if you are talking about guitars starting off, it's just them playing on an open string and doing some pull-offs on some notes, then switching to dual-guitar arpeggios. If you are talking about a fast guitar part, they are called arpeggio.
@@Rykiniafan1 Ok, I understand. In my opinion, Protest's music is so dynamic and active, that it is hard/impossible to categorize certain parts of the song. For me it is just another breakdown in the song. PTH music seems to be way too dynamic to fit into a classic standards of verse/chorus/break/bridge. But that's just my opinion.
@@rebelScience ye i thought its a lead up into a breakdown but it seemed too fast for one. but it really isnt a break even tho the drums are sick at that point nothing else really "takes a breather" so i guess i settle on unconventional breakdown :D thx for ur help :)
@MotionlessGhost886 animals as leaders first (and only so far) album is just tosin abasi, he got the other guys so he could tour the drums on the album were programmed by misha mansoor, the guitarist of periphery, just a little trivia for you
I watched this after finally watching a deadmau5 video to see what all the fuss about them was... You can probably tell how relieved I feel to hear this
