To the guy looking for the lyrics, a clear set absolutely exists: It's in the very nicely designed, heavy-stock zine that comes with the LP (which also includes the download key). Totally worth the purchase.
Howler, this is an amazing channel, and hits my musical tastes sweet spot. Just found you after trying to find Ought's latest, and kept reading about Protomartyr, and then saw you had NMH, one of my favorites. So, great work. I'll keep checking here for what I want to buy next!
are you kidding me? haven't heard stuff that left me wanting it to go on at the end like this in quite a while I wish a clear set of lyrics existed somewhere...I have a feeling some of this shit is way beyond brilliant
This is without question my favorite album of the year but no one I know seems to have heard about it. There are some imperfections: the singer's voice is a little off key, the lyrics get a little silly at times, and they aren't the cleanest musicians in the world but aside from rather superficial issues like that this is damn near perfect. The track-to-track fluency is so amazing I'll try to revisit one or two specific tracks and just wind up listening to the entire album again. Everything is instantly memorable and there's just such a good flow start to finish. As with any great band, they maintain their unique sound and style with every song but never get too repetitive. The last time I felt this way about an album was the Red Album by Baroness, totally different sound but same structure and vibe. Everyone I show this album to gives me kind of a "meh" response. Even friends I share 99% of my musical taste with. Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way!
I can definitely understand what you like so much about the track-to-track fluency. "Everything is instantly memorable and there's just such a good flow start to finish. As with any great band, they maintain their unique sound and style with every song but never get too repetitive." 100 % agreed! Personally i think Oughts More Than Any Other Day and Iceages Plowing Into The Field Of Love are a bit better but they are more or less on the same greatness level than this record. For me Plowing Into The Field Of Love is the best record than really close to that Oughts More Than Any Other Day and than Under Colour of Official Right .This order can change from day to day. The fact is that this year was pretty rich of great Post-Punk records. (sorry for my messed up english. Iam just a german 16 years old music fanatic whose english sucks pretty bad.)
Haha dude I didn't even notice any poor english, good work man. I am compiling a list of great 2014 albums for my friends so I really appreciate the response. I will definitely check these albums out if they are at all similar to Under Color I'm sure I'll enjoy the crap out of them. Thanks!
His voice like a newsie, used to shouting about murders and the local drama that drove little sales for his sad rag, who got older and failed to move into a different racket, losing the energy to put on so boisterous a display, and in his quite quietudal sales scheme duelly discovers that getting in the patrons face and just honestly telling them about the horrible headlines that his paper printed for the last years. Like actually making eye contact and trying to look into their souls sold precious papers.
I really needed something as goos as this. Unfortunately I've been listening the same stuff for years, and I was getting kind of sick of it. I'm really glad to know such a band.
Yep, just listened to The Agent Intellect and now this one. Brilliant. Love their sound. A bit like a combination of Mark E Smith (Fall) vocal sound and The XX guitar sound. To me this is a totally new sound (thanks to Iggy Pop radio programme) and it is great. They need much more promotion in the UK - will hit like a storm.
I cant stop listening to Come & See. The whole album is great but I've really enjoyed it. I stumbled on this album from a spotify recommendation of the band viet cong
Is that unpopular? It's the album that got me into them and I listened to it every day for about two years. It's phenomenal. They have been my favorite band for a bit now. Go see them asap. :)
Mount Average I'm going to have to blame that one on Motherboard Mac and their A. I . Siri , who I find after proofreading , managed to scew up my choice of words more often then not , I've posted a reply and had to delete it shortly after reading , only to repost it
yesterdays' papers The original post was only a jest , as I live 60m from Detroit where they have many gigs , this LP is promoted by College stations and comes highly recommend by the DJs'
Yeah, it was on my listen list, and I don't know the genres of everything on there. Thought it would be like harsh noise or black metal or something when the album art loaded up. This is certainly not what I immediately picture for a punk album cover.
