Speaks good English and pronounces very well. Great intonation as well... Well done GC. And the team at Autobuzz. Even the video editing is very professionally done...
Very impressive car, changed my perception of the brand. Geely totally revolutionise Proton, injecting Volvo technology. And this is probably the best Malaysian car reviewer I've come across!
Thankfully it’s GC Mah presenting this epic vehicle every Malaysian has been waiting for! His explanation is very direct & easy to understand and his Malay interjection is most welcome. Good job mate 👍🏻 P/S: when you say drive fast, how fast is fast? And does this mean that the car isn’t ideal for long distance driving? Hope can get clarification 😁
GC even if the X50 was priced the same as all the same segment SUVs, I still think the X50 is the clear winner regardless of badge, pricing, nationalism or brand association
Love AutoBuzz review. Just and knowledgeable reviews on the cars. Unlike some other reviewers that criticise to show their shallowness. Keep up the good work team AutoBuzz
the Geely Proton badge swap works this time because these are new models, not old end of life models like the Inspira/Lancer, Accord/Perdana, etc. and because Geely itself is not selling directly in the market vis-a-vis Mitsubishi and Honda.
Actually the old days proton rebadged from mitsubishi were quite well accepted (wira, perdana, saga), but when it comes to the inspira i think mainly because the lancer is selling along side in Malaysia at the same time, so many people will see it as copy cat product. Until today they are still tons of people do not know about rebadge exercise in automotive industry. Since the Geely Boyue and Binyue are not avaialble in Malaysia, most malaysian do not know these car are rebadge from Geely. Sure, all the tech savvy guy and car enthusiast on the internet knows about this, but the "General" people outside has no clue or no interest in knowing these at all. They see nice car, they like. They see same car with different logo, copy cat product. Sad but true.
Nissan, renault, and mitsubishi. Always rebadge they car too. This called cooperation . Renault have share in nissan. And mitsubishi have share in nissan . Even toyota and daihatsu have similar cooperation . Is normal in car industry
first time im watching your review, very commendable description of the car with some tasteful jokes placed through out, ill be looking forward to seeing more of your reviews in the future.
since Proton is planning to launch his car in Pakistan also, i watched your review and bro you do awesome reviews informative and entertaining...10/10 from my side !
kelisa over 10 yrs old already, of course it will vibrate. the X50 has got all sort of new tech to overcome the vibration. but i would like to see how it’ll be like after a few years, even with all that tech at the end of the day it’s still a 3 cyl.
Really love your presentation and acting, it's the best of the best car review that I've watched so many years, even better than Tai Choo Yee ( he is good too but too tension and serious feel). Wish to see you put more effort in Mandarin and keep it on.😁😁
Agree with GC Mah on the conclusion. If you seek "substance" in your drive (especially at higher speeds), this is not the car for you. The one I tested had very disturbing wind noise at the A-pillar area past 120km/h. The body roll is also very significant in sharp corners, not confidence inspiring. Otherwise, driven at normal speeds, the car is very well packaged and value-for-money.
@@terryfu830 cool! Good that you have tried it already. If we buy this Proton X50 use with Petronas Primax 97 with Pro-Race, its gonna be damn nice not only with the turbo function.
I think it’s because of the moneys worth for the features and specs we are getting...that’s why we are singing praises instead of criticising despite the rebadge.
Thank you for the comprehensive sharing. Wow! Very insightful. Great job Bro! If the price is 30k more than now.. well I would prefer to go for imported car.
I think it's due to the combination of rebadged model execution plus the price tag. Previous rebadged cars of Proton tend to make the car feels somewhat a lower grade iteration of the original car due to the built quality and discounted features. And this is because of the Proton's strategy where they focused on them as being a cheaper option as their selling point. Current Proton cars, albeit rebadged ones, barely discounts any features from the original model, except for the price, and they make sure whatever the competitors are offering, they could offer for a lower price, sometimes better in terms of quality/execution. And this somewhat cancels out the perception of Proton being that cheap car for those with no budget, to a bang for buck car with features and quality you could previously only find in a car at least 50k more expensive.
Im jealous with this proton version since this is named as geely coolray sport in the Philippines and it lacks the voice command, ac vents at the back and auto rear open.
I think the volvo name really helped when geely first bought m took helm at proton.. imagine geely, a chinese brand selling their cars rebadged as a proton here without the volvo association, I believe the sales wouldn't be that good. Even when x70 came, everyone was hyping 'volvo tech here, volvo tech there'.. even the SA used this to promote.
This car looks tempting in Malaysia because of the taxes. NAP artificially inflate the prices of cars that made the X50 and X70 look like a bargain when in reality, Malaysians are still buying substandard cars at overpriced tag.
Exactly. Don't think it's right for him to say it's cheap while Malaysians have been paying way too much for cars all these while. In fact, why not match the price China is selling this since Proton is a domestic brand? 🤭
@@fuzaitux Perhaps if we adopt left hand drive where the car can be wholly imported from China. Thing is you guys dont understand the basics of economies of scale, we dont have the market volume like China for Geely or Proton to be able to sell at their price and still make profits. When we have a billion population perhaps we can start barking louder, for now, lets just say we should consider ourselves lucky that we dont need to see the Juara, Tiara or Savvy nonsense that comes out of Tg Malim.
@@Jamesdevil it's not about economies of scale here. If Proton is allowed to sell Geely made cars at an inflated price, while charging exorbitant duties on other foreign brands, it's just bad for average consumers like us. I don't see the justification why X50 should still sell at higher price while Honda or Toyota sells almost the same price at the same segment class? So we're only left with either Perodua or Proton's lower segment cars. Btw, X50 is still manufactured as left handed car but switched to right handed in Malaysia under CKD.
So many X50 video review out there and yet I'm keeping it for Autobuzz and GC Mah. And for your question bro. If this thing are 30k more i would just take X70 anyway. But I have to admit that at this price point it is way more affordable than other competitors. Rugi tak beli bro! GC dah bakar line tu. Tengok wallet mampu test drive je dulu haha
Because of the built quality and the reasonable price range. X70 and X50 have definitely increase the competitivenes of our local brand, despite it is just being a rebadge model.
Test drove this car. Gotta agree. At low speeds around 90-110kmh its fine. The moment you push it to 160kmh and above, it feels like a freaking boat. Not stable at all.
Everytime Proton launches a new car, car review channels and portals are encouraged to give good impressions. Im glad they did the same for rebadged cars too. We need more sites that churns out positive vibes rather than focusing on 'spare parts availability' 'china marketed' 'resale value' mentality. Every car have their own set of problems but nationalistic pride should come first.
Great car from price perspective when comparing to the features offered. But it looks a bit Ahbeng la with that obnoxious red accents (AMG?) on the inside and excessive chrome on the exterior.. and what's with the quad tail pipes?
The Proton brand name and price isvthe reason. If the car was a Geely and costed extra 30k, it wouldn’t sell as well. Ppl would go for other globally established and more popular brands. It would be the same if the Proton X50 costed extra 30k.
i think as u saw in the video is a good one. for starter If u think myvi is too basic xD. but most importantly is to choose a suitable gas cause that is the one that you will be paying monthly too
@@historiariley1562 truee. haha bcs im still surveying over two brands now bcs one the petrol pump is very near to my house. not sure if I'm gonna use that one or continue on searching
@@selenakesom9988 i think i would suggest u to use shell since it's very good in terms of saving your money and their petrol is very good for engines to absorb
@@historiariley1562 yess!! ive heard about it. because I tried to compare with others and I'm gonna start with shell first. and see if i could adapt with my budget. plus the petrol pump is very near to my house.. it will be easy
