I told you in the last video about how funny I found this book, and discussed the parallels I found with Tati's movie "Mon Oncle". Now I've finished it, and want to give some more thoughts, in another #booktube friendly vid, as well as showing you my Proust-related bookbinding project. "In Seach of Lost Time" (or "Remembrance of Things Past", depending on which translation you're reading) was originally published in 7 volumes, and I've rebound second hand paperbacks into volumes 3 and 4, with a view to upcycling my second-handers into the original 7 volume set, in a very personalised collection. I'm also rebinding my copy of Neal Stephenson's "Cryptonomicon", and customising it so it'll hold together for another reading, and look cool on my bookshelves.

I forgot to mention in the video that I also did a small artwork based on the "Intermissions of the Heart" section of the book, which anyone interested can see on my Donna Emerald channel. I called it "Dreams Mirror" because that section of the book had a thing about dreaming that I got really inspired by.

p.s. I'm aware that pigeons don't tend to bob on the sea, as stated about 3mins in. I know gulls do tend to.

Some lovely papers around to chose from. I could have made my own, but I thought this paper was so pretty.

So glad I found Your channel! Also, what a great idea! I must admit I have a full shelf of Dostoyevsky´s paperbacks and now I´m thinking that they will need this delightful makeover...

I liked the guilt free aspect of the upcycling old books, because you're not buying the same thing again, and this way you get to express how you feel about the book, as you are designing the new cover. Your Dostoyevsky collection could really look amazing when you get "a look" going for them. I found two channels really helpful, when learning how to fix and rebind my books; these were Anessi Bindings, and Four Keys Book Arts, as both were very clear on each step, but of course there are lots of great channels with tutorials. It's really a whole lot of fun to do, and not horrendously difficult either, once you watch a few good tutorials first, to get into the mood to start.

@Skavop Thank you for the tips! I have just curated my book collection and donated hundreds of books away. So now I have left the dearest of books, most of them classics. I feel redoing the covers would do them justice.
