Thanks for the tour. It just gives us a wonderful view of what is coming. We can plan for our own gardens with this information. Love the aqua pot addition where we can use our own pots. That is one great idea. I don’t plant in pots because I never remember to water them. This might make it possible.
Good eye. I was so absorbed in the plants and what Heidi was saying that I didn't catch JB on there, so I went back and found him. I'm really liking the Snow Flurry Caladium and the Double Up White Begonia.
I have added quite a few plants purchased through your site- all are growing beautifully adding color and interest to my ongoing gardens! Looking forward to seeing what you have to add for next season!
Thank you that was fun seeing what coming next season I'm loving the Lantana that is one of my favorite plant I have some this summer and there beautiful.
hmm queen tut as houseplant (might be good at work). You also mentioned Caladium for Christmas? Will they do ok in Michigan indoors during winter? My desk at work may be getting some new plants to brighten up area. Thanks so much for sharing this video. Have to admit kept spying Jack B. in background by the AquaPots. LOL. Really excited for the AquaPot inserts to come out.
We are considering carrying them as a Christmas option for indoors. I am not sure how long they would last, but I think it would be similar to a Poinsettia
Thank you for taking us along, excited for next years new varieties! My question is which Supertunia do you recommend that when planted in ground will give me a mounding habit? I planted Supertunia beaudeux in the ground this summer but it’s growing flat like a pancake. I live in Northern Calif by the beach and we get overcast weather most every day in our micro-climate. Thank you in advance.
2 Points I will say as an elderly person. No Names of plant seen in pots of the species just the variety! Also the very nice lady who knows every plant by heart .Says the name Once a the start . So i return to catch it to write down. Thankyou
You also did not see any new shrubs. This display was the annual and house plant display. If you go through my videos and look for one at Walters Gardens, that will show you all the PW Perennials.
Can you comment on the new rule for next year that Proven Winners is making all retailers use their containers that have proven winners labels on it? Some Nurseries have said that they won't be carrying Proven Winners plants next year, because the plants would be more expensive because of that rule. Is that true?
Yes, that is a new rule that started this year. It should have been implemented from the start. Most brands would not sell their products in an unbranded container. ( Think Coke is a bottle that doesn't say Coke but has a sticker on it that looks like coke. I wouldn't be confident in what I was buying) Many garden centers are upset about this. The additional cost is approx. .15 cents per quart pot, based on 2022 pricing. Not enough to make a difference or to put up a fuss over it in my opinion. Customers recognize the PW white pot and feel confident in what they are buying.
@@gardencrossings Thank you for your reply. You make a good point. See this retailer didn't mention that it would be only about .15 cents. They made the argument over a dollar more. I don't care what they say, PW plants are simply the best for our area that we live. No bugs attractions, no disease, once the grow, the plants are getting big and lots of bloom. I do hope that we will still some places that will continue with PW.
...so when you see other big gardening RU-vid celebrities, like Jack Barnwell, do you get starstruck, or are they basically colleagues to you? Gee whiz, YOU'RE a celebrity to me! 😍🥳🙃💞👩🏼🌾💚 =^..^=
Jack is an industry friend that we have known for several years. A great guy. So, I probably shouldn't tell you we went to dinner with him that night ;)
I know this is a trade show but a little advice from someone who's retired from the industry. All the advertising, branding & cutie names only go so far. Selection, price & performance have to stay important. I've stopped buying PW branded plants, their performance wasn't worth the high price. Even expensive garden centers didn't have many selections & the plants looked terrible after a few weeks on the bench. I know good sales help is hard to find but at $3.99/4" annual, I expected a superior plant & one that will perform. Not finding this with PW lately.
I agree that performance is important. I actually almost exclusively buy PW annuals. Nothing else compares in my opinion. The most vigorous plants for my short 2.5 month summers.
I agree with SR, they outperform any of the comparable generics we have every carried. A Supertunia VS. a seed petunia, Supertunias are hands down better.
In our experience the PW products have out performed any of the generic annuals we have every carried. Each garden center has its own right to carry as few or as many that they want. What they look like on the bench is up to the staff that is caring for them as well as the garden centers turn over rate. As for pricing, we get the same price for the PW annuals as we do for the few generic annuals that we carry. You have the right to your thoughts and opinions of the product. We stand behind the brand because we have seen how they out perform so many others.
