Timber management is one of the most over looked practices to improve your farm for whitetails, turkeys, and other wildlife. Whether you're looking to increase bedding areas, winter food, summer food, daylight activity, or overall wildlife use don't overlook timber management.
In this video we discuss the transition that is occurring on the Keith family farm. This area was once closed canopy forest and is now a much more productive landscape for wildlife, and the land! Managing timber is a must, but knowing how to do so is the issue many of use struggle with. Increasing sunlight, removing invasive species, releasing crop trees, and increasing diversity will all result in a more productive landscape. #forloveoftheland

Lots of good stuff. I’d like to see more details on the plants you’re pointing out. Why are they good? How to identify them. Where they grow, etc. Really dig in deep on these common species of plants we hear so much about on the podcasts

Would love to see you dive into some plant ID in a little more detail... pick one or two plants a week and do 60 seconds on how to ID them and where you might find them, etc... great content, guys! Thanks for everything!

You note that it is a southwest/west facing slope and therefore it catches a lot of sun. Why would have shallow soil? Is it because it would also be the windward side?

Looking great boys! Can't wait to get the chainsaw fired up again this winter. Gotta keep grinding away at the never ending hoard of Japanese stilt grass for now.
