I've been playing with AOI for a bit now and it is pretty interesting. Forcing myself to learn NodeJS and grow my Python skills.

Thanks, very useful to know about this provider. It will definitely help to know about it if AzureRM is not updated yet, or even has a bug. And it's so convenient that resources on Azure have their ARM deployment available to download. I'm curious how would you create a serverless application. Would you use only Functions with some public IP, or put them behind an API Gateway/CDN? And how would security work? For example if I have an OpenAI that's used inside a Function that's only available for registered users, to prevent spending resources on guests.

I'm studying to get AZ-104. Serverless is kinda unrelated to preparing for that exam, but it's a fun topic, which allows one to develop quite complex application with minimal time.

Good question. I'll be starting an Azure Function series here soon. Will be building end-to-end solution using Azure Function hosted API. We'll tackle authN, authZ, load balancing, secrets management, dependencies on other PaaS services like OpenAI.

Truth. I really like Azure Functions. Built a lot of stuff with them. They don't even need Azure to run. They can run in a Kubernetes cluster. So you could theoretically take your Azure functions and move them to AWS EKS if you wanted to. Many people are unaware of this.

That sounds cool about running them on k8s, that's a new for me. Will they also behave in similar way as cloud ones, with stopping completely after a timeout, or they will behave as a container by running continuously? I guess one of the main selling points of serverless is "hyper-elasticity" 😄

I think they would run more like they do when running on a traditional app service plan or a premium Azure functions plan.
