We are not a post-racial because the extensive work to become such has not been put in. Just allowing the clock to move forward while NOT addressing the ills of a nation built upon the institution of chattel slavery, a revolutionary war from being a part of the imperialism of the British empire, using the ideas of democracy while secretly resembling and mimicking the feudalism and calling it capitalism, deliberately failed reconstruction (blaming that failure on the carpetbaggers), Jim Crow, civil rights movement which was ended with the assassination of MLK, Jr., affirmative action being highjacked by white feminism movement, the great society being overturned by policies, welfare reform, war on poverty, military industrial complex, war on drugs, mass incarceration, prison industrial complex, police brutality...and this is my short list.
