OMG!! Thank you. After extensive reading, watching, and even testing, I think I finally have a handle on proxies and optimized media differences and applications. You obviously work from a script to eliminate prater, so thank you for that as well as for not trying to entertain us with an inane background sound track. Good-on-ya. Subscribed? Oh yeah.

yo, this whole video is gold. Thank you so much! One question that I had was, does proxy media compress audio files as well? I am trying to send a timeline to a sound mixer with all the related footage and audio files. I am not sure if the sound mixing will require original files or will proxies effect the audio's quality?

Appreciate the informational insight. Definitely taught me something. I've been using both. I've seen that if I use one or the other, the playback is still choppy. But if I implement both, the playback is smooth. I shoot UHD4K Footage, 24fps, from a Sony A7c camera, and edit on a MacBook 16GB M1.
