Phenomenal video. I’ve been struggling with editing on the Color page and in determining any process that would alleviate the play back and scrubbing issues. This video is instrumental in explaining why I’m experiencing these problems and defines possible solutions to this. Up to now, I’ve resorted to converting the H.265 files using Media Management. This works great but sure doesn’t seem like an obvious long term solution. Sincere thanks for such in-depth videos. They are a blessing to me.

thanks for these in depth looks at features. An additional problem I'm seeing with proxies is that proxies are generated with the exact same file name as the original file (Albeit hopefully going into a different location) with no indication that they are the proxies. This really does build in the opportunity to get in a muddle when collaborating or reusing assets in different projects. Of course you can work out which is which by file size , codec, resolution etc. But really do I want to have to do that with multiple files?

Is there a difference between proxy media from inside davinci and proxy media from blackmagic proxy generator?

hey this is cool, i have a question, If say i have a 20 second interview that is then cut up on the timeline into 5 segments and so we now have 5 individual fusion clips with an expensive denoiser node, can we somehow cache to disk that expensive denoise node in one fusion and it is accessible to all those 5 fusion nodes since its all using the same 20 second source file, alternatively i could denoise footage and then re load into resolve, but essentially all these 5 cuts on the timeline are all using the same fusion logic but when you make the cuts on the edit page it creates distinct fusion pages for each cut so now it seems hugely redundant and if i cache a denoise node for one of the 5 cuts it wont help the other 4 fusion nodes. any way to manage working with one source file and caching an expensive node operation across cuts?

Usually when i would do this I would go to.. playback>render cache> user. And then select my whole timeline right click "render cache fusion output> ON". Is this making optimized media also with this way? Thanks!

Hi, Great video. I am missing some information about the Render Cache Format and I can see you have set it to the same as the Optimized Media Resolution. I have almost the same HW and I at times don't understand why CPU and GPU is used very much. ASUS TRX40-PRO S with 3970X 32-Core. ASUS RTX3090 128 Gb Ram and lot of 980PRO 1Tb in different RAID setups. Some times it feels like DR can't use all the good HW

So which of your class talks more about the proxy workflow? or a class the is more indept about proxy for colorgrading and vfx?

Even if we have converted the source media to proxy. The proxy media playback on time line is buggy on 17.2.11

I am facing audio desync issues when creating proxy media. Proxied a 4K (Quicktime Format video) to Quarter Res using DNxHR HQX. Also, the audio pitch gets significantly lower.
