So I went into Guitar Center yesterday. They actually had one. This thing is WAY better than my Gibson Studio Deluxe II. I don't prefer a wide neck. But this one is great! The craftsmanship I am blown away. I am really in on the SE line now. Fretwork smokes my Gibson. Tuned and setup right out of the box too.
I’ve had this guitar almost a year now, it is an awesome guitar. The tuners on mine were terrible so I upgraded to some locking klusons but otherwise it’s stock and I probably won’t change anything. It’s beautiful, it’s comfortable to play and sounds great. Tuned a half step down it sounds even better in my opinion.
I have one of these guitars in Trampas Green . I upgraded the pick ups with a set of Duncan's I got off of Craigslist and upgraded the tuners to the PRS locking tuners from Mann's Guitars ...It Rocks !!
This is the only PRS I own...the neck is fantastic....the weak point is the pups IMHO...that said I highly recommend it....nice demo and review as always guys !!!
This seems like a well thought-out guitar. I honestly don't see any features or specs I don't like on it or that are missing. At $850 as well; that's pretty unbelievable these days.
I tried out one of these in a local music store today, and fell in love with it. It holds its own against my non-import Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 and SC245. I know it might be superfluous, but I believe this will be my next purchase. The finish is gorgeous, and the feel is amazing.
I owned one of the original Trampas green models ( Korean made ) great guitar well built and so light. It just didn’t have that “ magic “ that certain guitars have. The tones were really great but it had tuning issues from day one and after a setup it still didn’t cut the mustard. It spent 5 or 6 years sitting in it’s case unplayed until recently I traded it for a Vintage 335 copy with P90 pu’s.
That 245s pickup is just better than the 85/15s. The new 594 tcis sound great too if you like that vintage voice. The 85/15 has too much high and bottom end cut and sounds more sterile.
Not a fan of Les Paul like guitars, but this one may be the best-looking affordable guitar. Of the same competition. PRS makes the best-looking guitars for sure.
I’ve got one in Trampas Green. The only thing I don’t like about the design is the tuners, they feel a bit cheap and tacky. They’ve got that seam around the plastic where they’ve just been popped out of a mould and put on. Will replace them when I’ve got a spare £80 but they’ll do for now. Been playing jazz and Motown on it and it sounds beautiful 💚
Hi I'm Paolo from Italy. It's a great guitar... very versatile... gorgeous for different genres: from heavy metal to jazz... and without dividing magnets or shifting guitars! The price is affordable... so I think it will be my next guitar purchase...
I have had this guitar for over a year. It plays well and the fret work is very nice but the tuners are terrible, the switch is garbage and there isn’t much taper on the tone pots. I also find the neck pick up to be quite dark.
Had this guitar, sounded beautiful but to thick of a neck for me, traded for an Epiphone elite les paul, much better for me. But if you like a thick neck grab one.
Agreed. PRS should offer this model in other finishes. I would actually like to see it in a satin finish on the top with tobacco finish, natural blonde, black satin, creamy or vintage white are some ideas. I think PRS needs to come out with a CE24 SE model too. I like bolt on neck of the Silver Sky SE but I don’t like it looking like a Strat.
@@im58woodythese have came in tobacco/vintage burst, natural, and satin black. As well as trampas green, black fade, charcoal cherry fade, koa topped, and spalted topped. Just gotta find them 👍🏻
PRS are totally overpriced! The SE models have cheap pickups and hardware. That guitar is maybe worth $500. Multi-piece neck and body. Poly finish. Maple veneer. $850+ tax and first thing you have to do is swap the pickups? No thanks. For 850 you can get the Epiphone 59 with Gibson pickups and a hardshell case.
…and all you have to do with the epi is level the frets, file the edges, crown and polish, adjust the neck, change the tuners, reposition the bridge and refinish. I kid; I know Epi’s QC has gotten a lot better in the last few years, but when the SE line came out, everyone was blown away by the consistent quality at their price point. Their prices have risen and other companies have stepped up their game, but when I’m noodling around at a music store, I still find a lot more crappy unplayable epis than SE’s.
