In this video I take a Chinese Juniper Itiogawa that has grown into a bit of a blob and prune it, creating pads.

Beautiful transformation! The shadow that the final tree casts in the wall is art as well!

When I go to the garden center looking at raw plants or when working on those, I now always have Peters voice in my head telling me how to look at the trunk and what to choose and what to cut off :D. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge, this brings everyone further and helps enjoying the Bonsai hobby even more!

What a transformation, and after seeing how the tree originally looked it makes me wonder how many bonsai are out there overgrown being passed onto the next generation and them not knowing its a bonsai thinking its just a shrub in a pot

Nice and efficient work. I thought that the bottom of the pad is supposed to be flat and the top is rounded. Steve.

Beautiful tree but not so well maintained. A well known problem: people buy beautiful trees but at the end, they do not know how to maintain the design/shape of the tree. It is not always easy, that's for sure and this tree looks very healthy indeed. Problem now might be, that there is quite a chance that the tree will respond with juvenile growth, since a lot of foliage had to be removed. On the other hand, patience does it at the end and Junipers are very strong trees. It's an Itoigawa, isn't it? Anyway: 425 K abo's, that's another milestone in my opinion! Again: congrats to you and your team, mr Chan! Good luck and keep up the good work!
