Do you recommend trying to find dwarf trees from Nurseries or just to buy online? Im having trouble finding nurseries that know what the rootstock actually is.
A lot of comments about pruning standard tree and it’s lopsided. He’s not worried about those lower limbs on a standard as they will eventually be cut off later because you want upper branches to be out of reach of deer. And the other upper branches were cut to not compete with leader or they were wrong angle-too weak.
I'm living in MN (zone 4 B ). I got some Asian pear trees. I watched a lot of clips about pruning. I'm confusing about that. What's different between summer pruning and winter pruning? which one for more fruit and which one for shape
Winter pruning is basically giving the tree its shape. I dont know if youre having your a. Pears in a V shape or as a regular standard and keeping it short. Like getting rid of crossing, rubbing or dead branches. In the summer, youre taking off the new growth back to where theres going to be bud set. Youll see the new soft growth and follow it back to a set of bud eyes. Which are pointy growth with a leaf or two. The new growth wont have flowers yet for a couple of years. So if you want to maintain the tree size prune the new growth back to a bud set growth or leave it be and have your a. Pear tree get bigger. The same rules goes for all fruit trees.
You might consider trading the bleach for alcohol it's a lot easier on your skin. Perhaps you have some bad ass microbes who will just drink the alcohol. Then I would stick to the bleach.
