UPDATE: There is a new 2023 method that doesn't require a PC! Check out the video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hiq-ttpU6bU.html
Took time to figure some of the issues of connecting vita to pc but the driver insisted to put on computer did do the trick. Man this is cool. cant wait to figure out other ways to get the games onto vita. Thanks!
i want a psvita, but they cost too much and used ones are in such terrible condition. i swear people carry these things by tying a string to them and dragging them along the concrete, and then they want $200 for it.
Yeah, seriously. I already have a hacked Vita, but just love listening to Rus talk about gaming. I feel like I know a lot about the world of handhelds thanks to him.
@@NAT3.323 you can do it with just the official Sony memory card, but why? The MicroSD cards are just more reliable, have larger capacities and IMC Unlocker can even make sure you never need an official Sony card again.
Thanks for the tutorial but I have 2 questions: 1: If Can I still play my physical game cards with a jailbroken psvita? 2: Can I still play online with my friends in a jailbroken psvita? Anyway, thanks for the tutorial.
Yo I’m kinda new to this so I’d like to know some stuff. How likely is it to get a virus if I go through with this method? Will my PSN account get banned? Will I still be able to access the ps store? (Thanks vita community)
I want to know this too. He said the 1000 model needed the Sony card, but never elaborated on why or how exactly. I plan to use a 256 or maybe even 512 gb card with adapter so im not sure how that matters or what.
I bought both Vita models last year and I had really easy time jailbreaking the OLED one with your old guide. I was just thinking about using my 2000 model instead cause the X-button is starting to get a bit worn out on my OLED model and this new tutorial came at the perfect time! Thank you so much for your work. Honestly, you are one of the only youtubers who's guides and reviews I can 100% trust without any doubts.
@@ryanreynoldsw655 I'm probably gonna do that at some point but I actually prefer the 2000 ergonomic wise so it's a nice change anyway. Good to hear you had easy time with the analog replacement. Opening up a PS Vita always looked a bit scary for me since I'm a total noob when it comes to repairs and it's not like it's broken right now. I'll probably look into it after I've changed buttons and shell on my old PSP. That will probably make me feel more confident with the Vita.
@Bitterspit That's a trip! I did the exact same thing around the same time... actually it was a little longer over 2 years ago for me. (In the before C-19 times...) but yeah I picked up a candy red OLED model from Japan and then a black 2000 model from North America. 🌎 I actually use my 2000 model the most because I want to keep my OLED model in great shape. It's a beautiful little machine. BTW if you've worked on PSP hardware, the Vita should be no problem!
@@JakeSulinjr I haven't fixed my PSP or the Vita yet, had problems with my current screwdriver set so I need a new one and I've been busy with other retro gaming stuff on my free time. Great to hear it's actually not that hard though! I'm really inexperienced when it comes to any hardware related stuff but PSP seems pretty easy to me. I assumed Vita would somehow be difficult so I feel better now to know that it shouldn't be too hard. It really is a beautiful machine! It's also the only OLED panel in my home so the colors are always really impressive to me.
Hey Russ, It would be really nice, if you could make a video about jailbreaking Nintendo 3DS systems. Your guides are awesome and with the 3DS eShop closing next year, it would be the best time to jailbreak it. 😊
3DS is easier than Vita to get going, but there are some aspects that some people miss that I think could be included in a guide. Like virtual console ROM injection, it's the most compatible way of playing GBA games for example.
@@steel5897 Injection kicks all sorts of ass if you have the time to do it or you can find every GBA ROM you want pre-injected. If you intend on doing it yourself, set a few hours aside. If you want to install regular DS games to your SD card, though, you're probably gonna wind up with both TWLMenu++ and GBARunner2, both of which I wish I'd known about sooner. GBARunner2 definitely has some glitches, but it's much more convenient than injecting. It's also the way to go for DS flash card users.
*PERFECT TIMING!* I haven't buggered with my Vita for maybe a year and decided to charge em up. I modded my V1 back when I got it, but it was always buggy and would only load games 1/3 of the time, and then not at all. *_But_* I decided to see if there was anything new and more permanent nowadays. *And here I am!* Unmodded the V1 and followed your written and video tut. It's perfect! *_Thank you and the entire Vita modding scene for making this happen!_* I greatly appreciate all the work that went into this over the years!
Hye. I'm kinda in a same situation like you. I modded my vita when the first exploit came out(3.60) and updated it to 3.65 enso when it first became available. I'm planning to start a new with my vita and my question is..How do you unmod your vita? Is it by formatting the vita?
How do I actually install the vpk roms?? My buddy jailbreaked it for me and I setup the micro sd card using this guide but I still dont know how to install and run the roms. Help would be greatly appreciated.
I saw exactly 3 videos of this method and none of them works. Just the same guide, download, move into folder and run .exe Did everything without any problem but when I need to move the 2 applications from PC -> PSVITA, the applications are not there. How come? I downloaded the right files from the site, did exactly every step but the 2 applications are not shown here. Any help?
Do you have to start with the authentic Sony card, then switch over to the SD card? Or start without the Sony card, then use the SD card? (Anyone can help me)
Adding my vote that this is PERFECT timing! I avoided the Vita for a decade (I spent $300+ on a Day 1 PSP and hardly used it) and finally ordered one a few days ago. If Amazon had actually delivered it on time, it would have been mere hours after you posted this updated guide. Now it's here (a blue 2000), and your guide worked flawlessly (other than NoLockScreen not working). I'm really taken aback at how slim and cool this device is. Thank you yet again!
Anyone have any recommendations: I have a Vita 1000 that I hacked _years_ ago, and it's sitting on spoofed version 3.73 but h-encore2 v3.60. For some reason I stopped the hack before I installed Vita Deploy (even though I've owned that adapter for about as long as I've had this thing hacked). Do I need to re-hack my Vita with the most up-to-date e-encore2, or can I just update & install Vita Deploy? IIRC my Vita was an absolute b1tch to initially hack...
There’s literally 30 videos like this in 2022 already how about we make one showing exactly how to do it on Mac because a lot of people can’t even do it due to you can only use windows. Like this whole video is sad it’s a complete remake
This tutorial overall is great. I was able to jailbreak my vita and now I got more games to play and with the micro SD tweak I have a whopping 400GB of storage space to use with retroarch! Thanks Retro Game Corp, I now can enjoy my retro arcade games on the go! 🌟
I followed the tutorial step by step on my PS VITA 1000 and when I got to the step that you have to download 3.65 OS my vita's screen went black but the ps button was still blue after a bit of downloading the part 1.But I managed to fix it by going to safe mode and restarting my vita. I'd like to ask you if this happened because i didn't press the screen while it was downloading the OS or something else.
Please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!! After installing h-encore and exiting the app my vita downgrades to 3.72 automatically and hence as a result its not modded have tried tons of solutions but nothing helped.
For me its all working. Only the sd2vita Hack wont. It works But if i shut down the console it Says format your Memory Card otherwise it wont work with the Vita
Anyone whos downloaded games prior to getting the sd2vita i recommend deleting the games and starting fresh. Copying the memory card over will be a hugeee headache. Retroarch took almost 2 hours. And little big planet causes an error code every time you try to transfer it.(or at least it did for me)
What’s up everyone !! So if i have the psvita 1000 model I will need an original ps branded memory card for the initial process but after I complete all these steps I can just take out the authentic one and put the sd2vita without needing to anything else ?
Do we really need to have PlayStation account or only if we want to play our games and get trophies? Also, I saw the note, but how can we be sure we will not be banned?
It will be nice if someone could elaborate a bit on the annoying ¨COULD NOT CONNECT TO THE PC¨ I tried all the steps and it doesn't work. EDIT: It just randomly worked lol.
Is 256GB the maximum size that can be used as a MicroSD? Why not 512GB or even 1TB? EDIT: The WellPCB website states: - Micro-SD card(s): you will also need a standard micro-SD card to store games and setup files. SD2Vita supports up to 256GB.
I’ve got my Japanese Ps vita 2000 from old game store and it’s become my favorite handheld ever since I modded it. It’s a shame that you can’t emulate that many games on there without some issues depending on the game, but psp and ps1 still work like a dream and a joy to play along with your vita games. I hope he makes a video on the new 3ds xl and how well that can emulate games in the future
Hi I'm having trouble reading the FinalHE_v1.93_win32.7z file It couldn't read it on my own and asked me to download an app to read it. I accidently made adobe read it which just converts it to a pdf file Now it's stuck in that setting and I have no clue how to change it back, nor which application to use to read the file, so I'm basically stuck in my task of modding the vita. This really bumped out my little brother who wanted his Vita 2000 modded I'm using Windows btw
Would it be possible to create a new folder and throw in the source code in that? Or do I have to use the 7z file? The VitaDeploy file seemed to download totally fine, but the FinalHE 7z one is totally busted now I'd greatly appreaciate some answers
This guide is pure gold!!! I m gonna do this process on my Vita , but it's a 1000series console. So I m wondering: is there anything else that it's not mentioned here that I should prepare to do? I speak of the moment when it's time to move from psVita original memorycard as a storage to the new microSD inserted with the adaptor case. I m gonna check the written website, I guess it could be there are some specifications about this that are illustrated there. I'm very very new to this kind of processes, therefore I might be having worries that are not important, but I thought better to ask also here.
Question for 1000 oled series...the 4gb or 8gb memory card you put at the bottom of the console, once you've hacked the console and have it reading MICROSD as the source, do you still need it in? I ask because I've bought a psvita, but it doesn't come with a memory card...my friend said don't buy one, use his and return it...won't I need it further down the line? Please help.
ITLS didn't work for me. PS store just says "The connection to the server or device has been lost". Don't really plan on using the PS store so may not be a big deal
Bought everything I needed to Jailbreak, followed the super easy instructions and downloaded the files, and then ran in to the "Could not connect to the PC" error msg when trying to run Final h-encore... I can't be the only one with this issue... anyone able to assist? (Vita 2000)
Managed to finally get it done via the latest instructions/ vid from Retro Game Corps (Thank you!!). Only issue is u have to pull out the SD card every time you want to install a new game etc since Windows still won't recognize the Vita via USB, but that's a small price to pay.
i feel like this was a direct response to Bob Wulff completely blowing his vita hack and hitting every possible roadblock. i already have a hacked vita but i like to watch Russ break things down.
His video definitely inspired me to update my guides. Although to be fair, he didn't use my guide when hacking his Vita, so I claim no responsibility for his problems :D
Great video bro I had my psvita jailbroken since 2020 but it always froze so I decided to format it and update it I followed your guide everything worked perfect and my ps vita is full smooth again also thanks for having the sd card in the description cause my sd is only 3gb of space😂
I'm getting all the nostalgia from when I first started following you because of the first PSVita hacking guides :) Watching again even though my Vita is running brilliantly (even those Undubs are going smoothly thankfully)
This was great. Was having issues setting up my sd2vita adapter through molecular shell and yamt because my uma0 file would not appear. Followed the steps with vita deploy and bam, my stuff is being copied over as I type. Thanks a bunch my guy.
Thanks a TON! I had my Vita 1000 hacked already, something messed up. So I factory reset it, followed your guide, and it's back and better than ever! Thanks again. Subscribed.
great guide, i had some issues with the usb not connecting and had to do it over wifi but the process was almost identical, thanks man! For anyone else trying this in 2022, CMA probably won't even install now because sony removed the microsoft x86 redistributable and the installer fails as soon as it begins. I had to go with QCMA, make sure to allow it in windows firewall also (there was a pop-up for me), cheers!
Seems pretty good so far but there is an error. iTLS Enso - adds TSL v1.2 to the device, which fixes many plugin errors, adds more installer options, allows secure (https) internet access, and restores access to the PS Store. You should remove Enso in front of the iTLS and add installer just so it is clear and concise i had to go watch your video to verify.
Maybe consider covering some best plugins, like overclocking, disabling lockscreen and led light, making several games run in native resolution with uncapped fps limit by vitagrafix, disabling boot screen warning about epilepsy etc
First of all thanks for this complete guide, I really appreciate it and secondly if you have problems with connecting the first time your ps vita to your ps vita try installing the provided drivers and then reinitiate your PC, yes I know it's silly but I didn't do it so maybe someone else is having problems so try that.
Hii! Thank you for this clean guide! Waiting to get my joystick replace and I have a question. I have a 32gb sd card and I like to update it to my 256gb/400gb sd card. Do i just copy the content inside of the 32gb to the new one or is there a way for it?
Bought an used ps vita, could't login to psn because it said old owner's account was attached to device, read that factory reseting the device could solve that, do that, now i can't login either sends me straight to np-2239 error 😭 so basicly am i screwed? Been loooking for a solution everywhere but nothing seems to work
Shouldn't have done that, You can avoid factory resetting if your vita's hacked, u can installed Adv account switcher (homebrew) that lets u switch psn accounts, Anyways search the error number and what it means, unfortunately i don't know nothing
9:05 I'm so afraid to do this step on my new vita I got for Christmas. The last time I did this a year or two ago using your old tutorial, it completely bricked my beautiful red japanese psvita from reading any memory card at all. It goes in a loop of "this memory card needs to format then restart" and when it restarts it gives me the same prompt over and over after every restart.
Perfect timing for me also. I have a blue 2000 on the way from Japan as well this week! Got my sdvita card today and ready to roll! I had a psp 1000 back in the day so I am fond of these devices and look forward to getting my retro gaming on with it as well. I did watch a video the other day about vita app launcher which looked really great. have you heard of it?? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y9DHarg_iKk.html looks amazing and a much more streamlined set up. Would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks again for the great content!
Jailbreaking your Vita won't affect your PSN account, I've done it many times with my main account. As long as you don't try to run stuff like trophy hacking you should be totally fine.
~2 years ago I got a Vita 1 with the intention of hacking it to go with my collection of modded consoles. I've got a modded PSP, DS XL, Wii, Wii U, OG Xbox, and GameCube, so this wasn't my first time. With my Vita though, it only sorta worked. It was a perma mod and everything installed properly etc but it wouldn't launch game back-ups all the time. For instance, it didn't launch Uncharted, but after a couple times it did. But then it would only launch it 1/3 of the time, and eventually *not at all* with *any* game. So, I gave up and put it up in my display case and got a Vita 2 and played it as is. Now with the advancing on this, I'm charging up the V1, factory resetting it, and giving this a try.
Got a little collection myself NES mini full library SNES mini full library Genesis mini full library PSX mini 298. Long story lol Atari non moded Portable x arcade stick with pi3 inside and 1200 arcade game Stand up 4 player custom made cabinet with pi400 with arcade plus consoles And a 350m and 351p moded. P can play psp but barely and we’ll no touch screen for DS. So I’m hoping this vita hack will solve it. Ps vita/psp/ DS handheld.
Hey! Thanks for the video! I just have a quick question. I followed the video and everything has been running smoothly for me so far. But by the time I got to 9:07 I realized after my vita restarted, both Vita Deploy and h-encore are no longer on my device. When I check my system information, it looks like it's jailbroken and my System Software is 3.65. But I can't find vita deploy. Do I have to reinstall it or is there a way around this?
My guess is you have the Sony Memory Card still in your device and it's not picking up on it after you make the storage device adjustment in VitaDeploy. I would recommend going in and changing the uxo/umao options to see if one of them works better for your setup (it can vary depending on the 1000/2000 model).
@@MooMooTheWolf I don't remember how I fixed it but I managed to fix the problem lol I suggest looking at the reddit page as well bc there are tons of resources there too
Thank you so much, i picked up a vita the other day and didnt plan on hacking it until i saw that most of the games i wanted to download from the store had been removed and the physical games were ridiculously priced. This worked for me perfectly. Thank you so much
You will have a lot of questions now, since they moved the payload to browser only and one app (hencore I think) will be discontinued, I'm afraid you need to make another video with Henlo installer
So it started with me and my brother, then a co worker, then another co worker, and now two more co workers have PS Vitas ordered and are eagerly waiting for them in the mail haha. This video refresh came out at a great time! Thanks for keeping it up to date!
Is there a better solution than YAMT? I noticed that this guide slightly differed from the one from last year. I am trying to follow this method for a 512 gb card.
Okay guys, I have successfully hacked it. Note that this already contains nonnpdrm plug in,you dont have to do it again(just copy files into directory and refresh livearea). Thank you Retro Game Corps. The only problem was the connection to pc at the start. (somehow managed to get it connected)
I've fallen down a rabbit hole the past few days... My Hori case i have used for Vita since 2011 broke, so i was shopping around for what replacements are available. Well this led me to wonder if the memory cards are still overpriced and how big of a card can i get? Spoilers: Sony's proprietary cards are still stupidly priced! HOWEVER, i notice some things for sale that are "micro sd vita converters" and.. are you telling me i can have *512* gb of space on my gods damned VIta?! But apparently you have to jailbreak it to get it to read the converter? idk... so lets looking into jailbreaking... oh.. its very easy.. oh.. its LIFE CHANGING. Okay then.. count me in! And now i am doing research!
Great video, worked for me. Just a question, if I want to upgrade my sd card storage, do i have to reinstall henkaku² after inserting new sd, assuming I've done copy and paste files from old sd to new sd.
My mod didn’t install VitaDeploy by default, so I got to use the Vita storage manager pretty early to send the VPK over manually using FTP. Now I’m working on more of the second half by downloading the other OS and downgrading
Once Vita is modded... You can hook it up to a Samsung tab S7 through a dongle with HDMI out to any HDMI input of a tv or monitor... just RU-vid search it... You'll need a plugin for the vita and a camera app for the tablet... also you can have you DS4 controller connect to the vita at the same time...🤯🧐🤔
Currently followed all the steps up to Going to Vita Deploy and Formatting SD Card with SD2Vita, for me it just says Format Failed (C1-2755-9) error code after formatting two separate SD Cards
Hello! I loved the video! I don't have my Ps vita yet but the video is very clear and specific, I do have a question thought, is it possible to run genshin on a Ps vita? I have seen many people playing it on the Ps vita but I am not 100% sure on how to get it install, do you have any info on that matter? -thank you!
